@@alertelass It definitely is. Remember conventinal approaches, fx a VOR approach, is made to ensure your alignment and descend towards the runway stays within a defined safetyzone. If you achieve the alignment turn, racetrack or teardrop and descend in LNAV, rather than VOR/LOC HDG SEL, then you are fine. In my Operator we are encouraged to fly in LNAV for all NPA approaches, except a LOC approach, as the Localizer is more precise than LNAV (GPS).

No door has ever fallen off any 737. Try and read the reports, thoroughly examine the material, and then think one extra time before you make this statement which may unnecessarily scare nervous flyers’
