BTS was invited three times to speech at the United Nations. Why? Because they are relevant! Not some lolipop superficial group of people. They are extremely humble, polite, grounded to earth, have highly respect for their Armys and through their charity and Army's hundreds charity programs around the world they realy make the difference. 💜

When a fan base is THIS huge it’s impossible to not have toxic fans. I’ve been an Army since 2014 and even I was sometimes taken aback by certain group of Army’s and how toxic they can be. It’s unfortunate because these types of fans put BTS in a bad light but it is what it is. At the end of the day there’s is more of genuine and truly loving Army’s. 💜 thank you for your great reactions.

Few months ago, here in Mexico in a football game (soccer) fans of a team killed some visitor's team fans. What I'm trying to say it's toxic fans are everywhere and not just in music but if you look up to another xceleste video called Who's the BTS army you may see this army fandom does so many good things following the BTS leading that I think it's sth to be proud of despite the toxicity in some part of the fandom

They do a lot of charitable work in Korea, even when they were small and did not have much money, they donated to the winter relief for old pensioners to keep them warm in their old houses, Hobi and Jimin have been donating to dance projects at schools, RM donates to artistic projects also for schools and small museums, Jin to food banks, V has donated to art and farming projects, JK support youth singing etc etc. Most is done low key and only yeats later ppl find out what they do. As for BML - outside of the US it is not known that the org is so shady. That was news to me here in Europe.

And something that gets overlooked is that their donation was made while cities across the US, despite pandemic lockdowns, were having protests and riots against the police brutality and racism leading to the deaths of so many. There were cities around the world that protested in support of the US protesters. That summer it seemed the whole world was in flames. (Not just from the protests, but also wildfires out of control across Australia, western US, and the Amazon.) Anyway, at the time, it seemed BLM was a leading organization for the protests against racism.

I actually really love your honesty. Your the first reactor I've seen touch on the BLM controversy. And your right BTS is so much more than one thing. There are a few bad apples in Army, however the community is OVERWHELMINGLY beautiful and positive. Don't let a few ruin your experience. I can't wait until you get into the "map of the soul" where BTS touches on Carl Jung and other great philosophers. That's what had me hooked. Loving your journey! 💜

9:40 there were some activities where one of the members was missing. For example, at the end of 2020 Suga had shoulder surgery so while he was recovering BTS performed, attended award shows and filmed RUN BTS without him. But as the members said, BTS is seven, they always left a spot for him in the choreographies, they mentioned him is their speeches when accepting awards and wherever they went they carried a little picture of Suga with them :)

“If someone is authentic, they won’t grow in an environment that doesn’t reward authenticity.” PREACH! Being their genuine selves and prioritizing their connection with us is the primary reason (I believe) that ARMY has grown so big, but that hasn’t yet translated into the level of respect from the western music industry that they deserve. However, the tide is slowly turning and the wave seems to be speeding up. I hope that more of the industry starts wondering what it is that has made BTS such a juggernaut. Even if the reason they take a closer look is just so they can try to replicate some of their success, if they approach with an open mind I believe they will be surprised by what they find. That’s certainly the case with the general public. People come to BTS with preconceived notions about them being a “boy band”, guessing that they fit the stereotype that western boy bands made. That stereotype is so widely held that as soon as the phrase “boy band” is attached to BTS, few people question their assumptions. To be fair, that stereotype exists because most boy bands really have, historically, fit a rather narrow mold. When all the boy bands you know of have had most of the same cookie cutter elements it’s hard to imagine that a boy band could be anything other than that. Something that will never get old to me is seeing skeptics take a peek behind the curtain expecting to see one thing only to come away with boggled minds and wide eyes, saying, “Wait, what?? Holy shit, I had no idea.” And, dearest Qofy, you have only seen the beginning :) Regarding the toxicity, ARMY is *ENORMOUS* and while the toxic elements are a small percentage, they are, unfortunately, very loud and visible. I’ve been frustrated this week seeing SOOOO much talk of “the scammys”. You are correct that ARMY’s behavior reflects on BTS, and sometimes we look really, really bad. I wrote a long comment about this in another forum so I might as well copy/paste it here. I was expecting backlash but, surprisingly, I only received likes and agreement. That reaffirmed my belief that the majority of ARMY is *not* loudly toxic and combative. I wish more of the positive side of ARMY would find a way to be even louder than the toxic side. Anyway, here’s my copy/paste: I think the fact that so many are FURIOUS that they didn’t win and keep calling them the Scammys is incredibly childish and makes us look bad as a fandom. What exactly are people angry about? Disappointed is totally understandable but angry?? The Grammy is not an award given based on any objective measure of popularity like weeks at number 1 or streaming numbers. The nominations and the awards are voted on by the 12,000+ members of the recording academy (including BTS themselves). Last year before they got rid of the “special nominating committees” that acted in secret to choose which artists would get nominated there was an argument to be made that their lack of nominations was because industry insiders pull the strings but that’s not the case anymore. Every voter chooses the “best” but there is no universal definition of “best”. Voters each have their own unique reasons for choosing the way they did. Did BTS deserve to win? Of course they did. But that doesn’t mean the other nominees *didn’t* deserve it. I think the fact that ARMY is used to BTS winning so many awards has made a lot of people believe that they have to win them all and that not winning somehow means they are hated or there’s some racist, xenophobic conspiracy to keep them locked out of the western music industry. Pardon my language but that’s fucking ridiculous. I *DO* recognize that they have been treated horribly in many ways throughout their career, particularly in South Korea itself, and that their “outsider” status and the language barrier make it more difficult for them to break through in the western market but ARMY showing it’s toxic side so loudly in the wake of their loss is only making it WORSE. As for “BTS was used for ratings”, OF COURSE THEY WERE! Literally the entire point of having a televised awards show is to generate ratings so that advertisers pay more. The production team would have been stupid and incompetent if they had put both the performance and the award category early in the show because millions of ARMYs would have stopped watching. If you actually think about it for a second, the fact that they performed early, had their little thing with Trevor Noah in the middle and then the award category almost at the end is a direct indication that the Grammys recognize how important BTS is. I don’t remember seeing them courting anyone else’s fandom like that. Let’s appreciate the fact that the epic performance they put on live in front of an audience full of academy members will do a lot to help them win nominations and awards in the future. So, too, was the fact that every single person who attended the show walked through the lobby where there was a huge sign for the Permission to Dance live play that will be held there during the concerts. HYBE/Big Hit knew what they were doing scheduling stadium shows in the same city less than a week after the Grammys and putting the Live Play overflow in the MGM Garden Arena. They guaranteed that all those industry people who arrived in Las Vegas for the awards would see BTS signs everywhere and that everyone would be talking about them. Next year when they are up for more nominations (which they no doubt will be), those academy voters will remember their performance and all the buzz about them. Personally, I want them to only remember the talent and artistry of our boys, not the angry mob calling the recording academy “Scammys”. We know that not all ARMYs are like that but, from the outside, we are seen as a single entity and right now we look like entitled brats. I love those 7 men with my whole heart. Their dream is my dream and they want to win a Grammy. I hope we will all do what we can to support their goal and stop sabotaging them by shitting on the very group of people who have the power to make our boys’ Grammy wishes come true.

Love that you know how bold that move on incorporating karl jung’s ideas in their craft!! You’d be surprised on the amount of theories circulating throughout their music and mvs theyre very psychological, along with the music and lyrical parallels that Rm likes to do in their songs! Also, he basically inhales sophisticated books and lives in art galleries. Im saying this because the guys’ interests often provide insights on what mindset the fans should be using in consuming their music or what kind of things or clues the fans should look for in their releases.

I don't remember which organization(s) BTS and BigHit donated to, but One in an ARMY (armys who kind of centralize the charitable efforts of ARMY) created a list of several organizations for people to choose. They also created a page on a service which allowed to donate on one place and distribute your donation as you wanted. One in an ARMY has a team researching organizations to check that any donation would actually make a difference to people who the organization is advocating for, so most of the money ARMY donated went to worthy organizations

Either way you were spot on about your comments with fandom at the end. People are too passionist and unfortunately that leads to a lot of toxic behaviour. @@QofyReacts oh on the BLM thing (i don't wanna write the whole thing because Dale here addressed the vibe of it) the info about BTS donating to BLM came out when the protest was at peak and a lot of people were donating, it was also hinted that BTS also donated to a lot of different places too (one of them being to the organization of tour people/roadies). Also, when the ARMY matched it, they didn't donate JUST to BLM, OneinanARMY was keeping track of how much was being donated and people were donating to different things, organizations like food drives, shelters, lawyers etc. who were working on ground during the protest providing food, shelter, bailing people who got arrested etc. So, ya, the variety took up BLM because THEY confirmed BTS donated, the other places kept things down-low... All this info is all on twt, you can ask the OneinanARMY account too, they have the receipts and tracking public. Jin (the eldest) came from a well off family but embrace the trainee life. When they were still starting and they lack funds and resources Jin would randomly treat his members paying with the credit card his mon gave him when he was away for training. From a small 1 bedroom dorm now they own a big house where all them equally own and share. They still are still the same humble and down to earth boys we all have come to know and love. Jin and Suga would cook for all the members and the rest of the boys would do their fair share in doing other household chores. Like V & J-hope would do the dishes while the others would help in other chores.

I feel like a part of the reason why the Industry is very prejudiced against them is because they had nothing to do with BTS' success. They're already very powerful with ARMYs' help alone and if the Industry gave them as much support, their other artists would go down. BTS has the numbers and everyone else has radioplay which we all know by now has become company vs. company at this point insead of what the actual listeners demand from the radio. It's also very unfair because radioplay weighs heavier when counting towards charting on Billboard Hot 100 compared to sales and streams which is why even if BTS outsells and outstreams other artists 5x more, their radio brings them down because other artists heavily rely on radio. Did you see the recent controversy when Easy On Me (don't get me wrong, it's a reallly good song) was #1 for a while and We Don't Talk About Bruno was #2 even though WDTAB was outselling EOM but EOM stayed at #1 because the radioplay was at 100M something while WDTAB's was around 8-digits only... ALSO, they might be threatened that the Korean music scene will take over the Music Industry and they won't have the power over music anymore.

Suga was gone due to surgery at the end of 2020 & beginning of 2021(about 3 months). He missed a lot of important events. They kept a spot in the line up for him and had his photo/depiction whenever they were doing a group event. I remember one of the members being missing earlier on but don't remember who or when. ARMY can chime in with details. V was not shown or talked about in the pre-debut interviews/vlives/photos. People only found out about him when they debuted. Throughout all, ARMY stood by BTS and spread their love around the world...and helped them climb the mountain together... that's why they always thank ARMY. I'm glad xCeleste had a shout-out for the ARMY translators.

A good intro that will describe each member and how the were discovered as well as their rise is "The Most Beautiful Life Goes On" by the Rice Squad, the updated version. The "Karma is an Army" series shows some of what BTS faced and answered by simply overcoming. Most of the issues BTS faced can be traced to two factors: 1. The status of an idol group in SK is determined by the size and power of their company, until BH&BTS built HYBE there were 3 major entertainment companies. Being relatively new, small and underfunded, BH was at the bottom of the hierarchy. 2. When BTS seemed to be a threat to one of SM Entertainment's biggest groups, perhaps the most beloved K-Pop group at that time, they used that groups fandom to attack BTS, and one of their popular rappers to do the same. The "Big Three" agencies were able to direct fan interest because they employed the fan club presidents. BH never has done so.

RM is not only incredibly smart and wise for his age, but he has the old soul of a poet as well, he is responsible for many of their lyrics. BTS performs with such feeling and throws in a few English words so that I can usually get the main meaning of the song and be very moved without understanding hardly a word of it. But then when I look up the lyrics, I'm really floored. So beautiful. And yes, JK has a deep speaking voice and has far more range than what you hear in their records. Look up his cover of Harry Styles "Falling" - you will barely recognize his voice. Normally he sings with almost angelically clear tone, but he allows his voice to shred a bit in this, as well as letting a note soar that causes mega chills - plus he harmonizes with himself. Actually there has been a couple of performances where some members are injured and there almost always there and sing and sit in a chair off to the side or dance some songs but not the ones where you have to move a lot like Jin for the Grammys this year jin had a hand injury but he still showed up and put work in and on there tour PTD (permission to dance)he put in so much effort and j-hope at the end made a speech for Jin and said he was happy he came and Jin got shy and hid his face with his hand like he usually does but it was his injured hand so it was so cute.

they always carried standee picture banner of member missing if only 6 member when filming their own variety show 'Run BTS'. example on end 2020 - early 2021, Suga had shoulder surgery & when going to award show & win, they use phone call for Suga acceptance speech. you can find the video behind in Bangtan TV (KZbin channel).

There was a time when Suga was not able to joined for certain period of time because of a surgery. Everytime they perform Suga's place was never filled in. They left it open. In there other shows or engagements or appearances they always carry Suga's picture and placed beside them. There are a lot of videos, run bts episodes and more to prove it

Missing members: they find a way to keep them included. The only time, I know of, they didn’t was very early on when (was it Suga?) had an appendectomy so the main choreographer danced in his place while one of the other members did the vocals. (Someone will fill in the holes of my vague memory of this incident) JK cut his foot during 2018 tour. He was on stage but unable to move around. He sang his parts. Suga had shoulder surgery and was out of the picture for part of 2020-2021. All performances were taped (pandemic) so his voice was inserted. The members danced their original positions. During a holiday performance a giant snowman took center stage during his vocals. Jin had shoulder surgery 2022 so his activities are restricted during the 2022 Las Vegas performances. He sits on stage or dances minimally while protecting his hand.

I have to say, I've been watching your videos on BTS since you started. You are such a genuine person, I love the amount of positivity you have! I'm envious of the people around you (friends and family). Its so refreshing knowing there are still amazing people in the world, that's one of the many things I've found in becoming an army, meeting and coming across genuine, pure hearted and kind people! Yes, the fan base does have a good bit of toxicity in it...some of it is understandable and then some of it is just straight bananas.. I for one like to take RMs approach on things when it comes to people being negative towards BTS. I stand up for BTS but I don't do it in a way to were it could cause people to look negatively at them. Its a delicate balance lol. I'm so glad I came across your channel, I enjoy watching your reactions!! 💜💜💜

He always comforted us with his speechs and he’s very very respectful and kind i really love him sm :( he's called the wizard of songwriting and composing for a reason..Writes and raps in 3 + languages , amazing lyrically, and has a big hand behind the formation and success of BTS, he's a GENIUS you'll know more how he is a lyrical genius along the way. btw his stage name used to be rap monster, but he changed it to rm ‘Real me’ because "it doesn't represent him or his music" besides he chose that name when he was like what 16 or 17? lol so he doesn't really like it that much. But thank you anyways for having an open mind and actually reacting to them!

BTS was attended many shows, performances, awards shows, and many more, only with 6 members. And they said they felt very empty without Yoongi there. We felt it too😭 And also in old era, at some moments, they were only 6 members to perform on the stage because of some reasons

There have been times where they performed missing a member...rm got injured once and couldn't perform but the other members still performed...recently suga had shoulder surgery and couldn't perform for a few months and the members still performed but they always found ways to make it feel like suga was still there...but usually if a member is injured they will still perform on stage even if they have to sit in a chair and sing while the others do their choreos, jimin has done this and jk has too and even right now jin just had surgery on his fingers and he is still performing with the others even if he can't do alot of the dance parts he is still there to do his part...I know u watched the grammy video and you probably noticed how jin was sitting in the chair acting like he was operating cameras and stuff through most of the performance and you'll also see he has something covering his one hand to hide the cast on his hand but he still did his part and he also joined in the last bit of choreo as well...bts don't let anything stop them from performing and doing their best at what they love to do 💜

BTS have had several instances where a member was missing from a performance due to injury/illness/exhaustion. JK is usually the one who fills in the vocals for missing members. They've also had performances where they made accommodations for a members' injury by placing a chair somewhere on stage for the member. This is all pretty standard for the music industry; not just Korean Idol music, but Western artists as well. If you Google search any major artists' name + "exhaustion" or "collapse" you'll see how common this is. This isn't meant to diminish how hard BTS work or the emotional & physical difficulties they face, but rather to say that all over the world, the music industry has issues with overworking artists. From my perspective, BTS is special in how they've dealt with their difficulties - they've grown & evolved through their crises and stayed together.
@yoonfie
@yoonfie 2 жыл бұрын
About the "have they ever performed with only 6 of them?" question, the answer to that is yes. They have. However, every single time that happens, the one member who cannot perform usually has a chair beside the members on the stage which he sits on and watches (He still sings / rap, only his actions are limited) For the Grammy performance & the ptd concert in LA, Jin was healing from a hand injury. In the Grammys, he was shown sitting down on a stage prop and singing. However, in the ptd concert, there was a chair but jin didn't use it because he wanted to perform. He danced and sung all while he was injured. When there was large situations in which their safety was threatened or any other reason, they have canceled them. Most of it was due to death threats and antis threatening to kill them at concerts. There was one in Japan though, when Suga had a panic attack just minutes before they went out on stage and they had to cancel the whole thing.

These videos are great and well done, but I would suggest and would love to see you react to The Rise of Bangtang….they’re an army made documentary series that follows their story from the beginning and is hands down the best and AMAZING imo…. I think they’re currently at around 21 chapters right now and have bonus content chapters and deleted scenes too. They could no joke be an actual documentary and are SO WELL done. Totally blew my mind with the content in them. I’ll reiterate though, that these are great too. I know a lot of reactors react to it on Patreon and would 100% support you on there to watch it as I’m sure a lot of army would. I love your reactions you are hands down my favorite. I love your knowledge of music and true love for it. You notice things a lot of people don’t and appreciate great music of all kinds. I agree with your take on the Grammys. ARMY jokingly say they are too good for the US music market and I believe their is truth in that. They are genuine, kind, loving, smart, and talented....kind of opposite of what we see here at times. Also, the US music industry can't make money off of them or control them and they hate that. And they have an indescribably connected fandom that is hauge, organized, knowledgable and committed to their music and their sucess. They can't control them either. As a unit BTSxARMY are both an enigma. It's frustrating when their music and talent is disregarded. I think its hard for people to accept them for the incredibly talented artists they are because how often do we find even a single artist who is this well rounded...and good humans.

Qofy so right about the hypocrisy of Hollywood. Good people aren't supposed to win, which is why we love seeing BTS excel on kindness and respect. Add to the issue: they started as hip hop - a genre that spouts "being real", but only if you are toxicly masculine. BTS' success in blending different styles of music and expression, freaks out an industry that insists on segregating people by genres.

Just in the latter part of 2020, Suga had shoulder surgery so for about 3 months prior to releasing "Butter" the group had to perform with 6. They always leave the missing member's spot open. And they use the backing track to fill in or Jk will fill in. 💜🤗🇺🇲💜

there are a couple performances where they are missing a member. during 2020, suga has a surgery done on his shoulder and was unable to participate in performances. you can watch MAMA 2020 I believe. They do not cover up his parts in the song or adjust the choreo. His space is still there and they peform as though he is with them. There is also their docu series Bon Voyage, in season 3, V and Suga were absent from the shooting at separate times and the members constantly mention them and miss them.

i get what you are saying about the army and the negative portrait of bts and i think you are right. i am a proud army but sometimes i get embarrassed when army go as far as criticizing innocent people and other artist because they won the Grammy that´s not there fault it´s the Grammy. but the fact that army are so loud on twitter and other platforms it makes people hate bts for no reason because they are sick of the fans. but army can also be a force for good they have stopped racism many times and if they set there mind to it, we can achieve everything. army might be obsessed and loud but the love we have is real. all we want is for the boys to get a fair representation in the industry. being loud also make more people curios about bts and want to see why they are loved by so many people.

They always left his spot open in the choreography and when taking photos and nobody took over his song parts either. They just let the track play it. It was really beautiful how they treated his absence and it was even more beautiful when he came back! What an emotional show that was. Good comments at the end. I've always been a bit sad that Army has people who are that extreme in their reactions to the slightest perception of negative treatment of BTS, and I am convinced that we would not see any of that from the actual members. Unfortunately it gives material to the haters, and also since it is sensational it hits the media, and so people get the completely wrong impression of BTS and the vast majority of Army. I am an older Army (68) and have never felt this way about a group in my life, they are my daily touchstone to keep positive, yet that does not mean I adore every song, every thing they say or do, every thing their company does....and I get impatient hearing fans say everything about BTS is perfect. I will enjoy watching your BTS reactions, you are a thoughtful young man and it will be fun to come along this road with you.

It's probably already here, but Suga had shoulder surgery in November 2020. He was not able to attend events or perform for 3 months. There is a video of how they left his spot open and how he was CGI'd into one performance. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2nGoqhqZaeIeKs In general, the members will appear and sing even when injured by sitting or standing on the sides. The latest example was Jin at the Grammys. He injured his finger badly enough to have surgery about 10 days before BTS was scheduled to leave for the US. The "Man in the Chair" spy trope was used in the Butter performance so that he could still perform. You'll notice that his left hand has a black cover over his fingers. He only appears on stage to dance when they do the final chorus on the round stage.

The core values of bts & armys are solid and a foundation full of positivity and kindness. Toxicity is unavoidable in fandom, more so when it's as big as ARMY community. But the basis of what BTS and army stands for, are very important to our society. I grew up with kpop knowing it's just a fun music genre with not much meaning behind them. I thought bts are also like that until I give them a deeper dive. BTS are a phenomenon. They started off well, by staying true to their passion of writing music, writing their own stories through songs. They crack the code from the very beginning of being successful. Though that's not what they intended, but the amount of success bts have belong to them. There are reasons why it's BTS on the top despite what ppl say. I believe it's fate they are this far, this powerful, this big. And I'm glad it's them. Fandom culture has never been like this until BTS and ARMY. When it comes to music, I think you'd really like RM. He's the brain of bts. From songwriting, concept ideas, mostly came from him. His words are wise, very philosophical. The concept of Carl Jung are often implemented in WINGS album, and Love Yourself series albums. I bet those ideas came from namjoon as well. Since he likes to read, ideas often derived from him. He even likes to read books abt philosophical figures like Socrates etc. Their lyrics often have multiple layers. Meaning that you can always interpret them more than one ways. I believe that's why so many ppl resonate to their music. But BTS's masterpieces is more than just the music. The way they deliver messages comprises of the lyrics, melody, feel of the song, the visuals, their fashion, the choreography, their VCR, the music videos, everything they include in the process of their songs are meant to be looked at and often have deeper meanings and very detailed.
