TBH, I can't wait. Hardware wise it looks really solid, and the image quality is really nice. I wonder if it has some nice Google Street View integration and features like in-camera stitching, low FPS mode with GPS etc.

Yes absolutely. My review will compare it carefully to x4. As for the new GoPro, we can only speculate. GoPro spent a lot of money developing their new camera. Ive seen some comparisons to the X4. Image "quality" seems to be better, especially in low light. There's something thats not pleasing my eyes though. Also, when Insta360 launches a product, its in production and ready to go. I dont like this "preproduction" model of introducing a product. There are noticeable issues that turn me off. The weight is another problem. I just spent weeks making a floating "invisible" selfie stick for my X4. It was difficult because of the weight. This qoocam is close to double the weight. Theres also a good chance the mobile and studio apps wont be as good. If gopro is seriously making an attempt to get back into 360, i think they will make a superior product. I also think they have to keep it at or below the X4 price to stay competitive. Im not sure what Kandao is thinking pricing it at $100 more.

I understand. FWIW, I have had no problems with the Qoocam 3, which I've had for almost a year now. As for the Ultra, my unit is a pre-release beta version is working ok, and they have been updating the firmware every week to fix bugs and add new features.

Even if the Qoocam's IQ is better than thr X4, for sure that the Insta360 software and editing features will be faaaaaaaaaaar superior to the QooCam's. My question is, will it be possible to import the QooCam's files into the Insta360 desktop studio app? The reality is that for me 50% of the user experience of using Insta360 products is how awesome and easy it is to edit on their software. Thanks again :)

Yes excellent point. In my review I will discuss in detail. Kandao has improved their workflow a lot. For example, they now also have AI tracking. The video you saw was done all through AI tracking in Kandao software. Their mobile software also works similar to insta360. Anyway, I will show this in my review.

Do you have any thoughts on how the photos compared to the Xphase scan? I know they are fundamentally a different camera but I’m curious as to your impression and comparing the finished products.

I haven't tested them side by side, but my impression is that the Xphase Scan is higher resolution and seems more detailed, but the Ultra has much higher bit depth and with AEB, it has better dynamic range. Also, Ultra shoots its AEB using DNG photos and merges them into a DNG file, whereas Xphase Scan uses JPG and then merges the JPGs into a DNG file. Ultra workflow for photos is also a lot simpler and more intuitive. Just load into studio and it merges them automatically. Xphase software works similarly but has a strange interface.

@@Dvm2003 Xphase can shoot in raw dng but it takes a very very long time and the camera heats up a lot. It’s not practical to do it for a virtual tour. Meanwhile, ultra shoots its AEB burst very quickly. Like 1 sec total when outdoors.

@@360vroomers In the alley picture if you look to the right side of the image the "mood" sign and dresses are on your right and the wall of pictures are on the left. At the end of that corridor it starts to get blurry like it is a stitching issue. Same problem in the sample boat pic just a different location. The up close area looks fine but the distance is blurry which seems weird to me. Same thing for the boat pic

What about the handling of switching light when moving outside you had with the Qoocam 3 (not ultra) → Is this now gone? Please give me a hint about overheating and also what fan settings there are since I want to order with early bird coupon...

Hi captain. It has noticeably less glare than x4 but if there is glare, you will still see a difference between the two lenses as shown in some parts of this video. As for overheating, I’m running tests now. Re fan, there are 2 settings: in the high setting, you can hear it in a quiet room. Outdoors in a normal environment, I don’t notice it.

The battery is included, although you can also buy extra batteries in the future (right now the extra batteries are not yet available for sale). Regarding storage, it has 104GB built-in memory, and you can also add a micro SD (I recommend a fast micro SD card such as Amazon basics, or sandisk extreme (red and gold) or sandisk extreme pro (red and black)).

Having said that, pls take a look at the ground while I’m riding around in the video. You’ll see a motion blur effect. Is that what you are looking for in an ND filter?

@@dimitrimoonlight I believe the motion blur you see here in my video is from Dynamic Range boost. In that mode, some sub pixels are underexposed to capture highlights. Because the camera is shooting two or more exposures at the same time, combining them looks like motion blur from a slow shutter.

How hard is work flow do you gaming computer to edit the video on or can you do it on Android mobile

Hi good question. The workflow is similar to x4. You can reframe the video on desktop or mobile. For all 360 cameras that have high resolution, reframing the video will require a dedicated GPU. Otherwise it takes too long to render. As for whether an Android phone can do it, it depends what kind of Android phone. I am going to ask them what is the minimum required processor.

My humble predictions against the X4: - Better IQ but noisier and more processed-looking. - Worse stitching - Worse stabilization - Overheating - Limited software and editing tools & features - All sorts of software glitches and crashes - Long term reliability issues. - A (hopefully) carefully designed and a..ss-kicking GoPro Max 2 will beat it, and for sure a larger sensor & improved X5 within a couple years will blow everyone and everything away, in every way, all the way.

Edit: Not latest firmware, will post updates as soon as I tried out the latest firmware. ----- Got my Qoocam 3 Ultra finally... footage unusable for VR when walking (normally, not "gimbal sneaking") while filming, especially when camera is not in direct sunlight. All larger, non vibration like movements are stabilized but all bumps and minor shakes (e.g. walking down a stair outdoory walking a bit faster, and so on) cause the video to disturb/blur for the bump durstion. No camera from Insta360 I had before (1-RS 1 Inch, Pro 2) had this issue. So for me this feels like a joke... why is my Insta360 Pro 2 that is not made for beeing walked around in a backpack so much better in stabilizing shocks from walking than a camera advertised for action sport. I am so sad...I was so hyped for this cam, the support promised to fix this before arrival, they released Stitching Software V2.8 but still the same issue it seems. PS: Your app doesn't work too... I am connected as described with the cam but no live feed even though I can watch the thumbnails of saved videos (but I can't play them) - Galaxy S21 Ultra. What a pity. ---- Besides that I can confirm that the fan is running for 13-16min without audible fan noise (fan always on but inaudible at lowest setting if more then 50cm away). After that it kicks in quite loud so all ambisonic recordings ruines but lavalier with noise cancelling should still work. Hope the recording time with silent fan can be increased some day (not by changing the temp limit, this us already crazy hot). But yeah...the thing I was scared most was no real issue. But not beeing able to record handheld while moving the camera converts it to a photo camera or stationary video camera only. And for that the quality is not good enough (even with your 0,5gb large dng files or AEB).

Btw: It heats up quickly but you can extend recording time without fan by 8min if you clamp a cooling pack on the outside :D (waterproof so no issue). But it will be visible in the recording. Better tip is to change batteries after a long shot so the new room temp battery can cool the cam down from Inside.
