I was eagerly awaiting the release of this album, as they are one of my all time favorite bands. QOTSA has a sound uniquely all their own. I've always loved their trippy, acid induced sound.I'm 46 yrs old and a HUGE music fan... I can't recall a band that sounds so loose and yet, is so technically proficient. They are an AMAZING band and this album is the fucking shit!

I sat by the ocean And drank a potion, baby to erase you Face down in the boulevard yet I couldn't face you There ain't no use in cryin' It doesn't change anything, so baby what good does it do? Your friends they'll sympathize, maybe I don't need them to Imagine I'd be your one and only Instead I'm the lonely one You, me, and a lie Silence is closer We're passing ships in the night There's nowhere to run away Said, 'Boy if you want love, you'll have to go and find it with someone new' 'Do you know who you really are? Are you sure it's really you'? Lies are a funny thing They slip through your fingertips because they never happened to you Time wounds all the heals as we fade out of view Imagine I'd be your one and only Instead I'm the lonely one You, me, and a lie Silence is closer We're passing ships in the night You, me, and a lie Silence is closer We're passing ships in the night Into the light, left with nowhere to hide Closer and closer We're crashing ships in the night

I need to know what kind of Frankenstein guitar Josh is playing here. Looks like an Epiphone Coronet/Crestwood, but the headstock and pickups are different. The tone he gets out of that thing without an iota of noise or feedback is a thing of beauty by itself. These guys and their techs know their guitar stuff.

Oh, man! The band even looks a bit like Blur :) It's Graham Coxon's guitar sound, it's that kind of Blur beat (on Coffee and TV) end even the bass sound is like the Blur! Love that kind of marimba (?) sound. Josh knows his music, i red he likes stuff from Krautrock to Black Sabbath.

I like how they let Mikey sing with his own voice in this song--not an overly-high pitched squeal like on Era Vulgaris (to match the recording), or a copy of Nick's screaming. Its smoother sounding this way.
