QRA RAF Typhoon Scramble from Coningsby

'Predator'
A quick reaction-QRA, fully armed, Eurofighter Typhoon gets scrambled from RAF Coningsby in response to a alert call. The jet uses full after burners on take off. A rare & amazing sight. It returned about 1 hour later.

I might be like a few years late but DILLIGAF, I love how the comments are mostly filled with people saying select aircraft are better than others, Each aircraft is designed to fulfil a specific role along with different countries operating aircraft differently (Not to mention cost, You yanks saying you got better aircraft, You got more tax going into the dev for em)

How come it's only one aircraft and it it's taking of from runway 07 QRAonly use runway 25 and comprise two aircraft. Someone has got this video wrong,

They are a pair ready in the Hangar, but sometimes they only need one. For example the last one that made the news- escort into Manchester was a single Typhoon. Also, QRA don't wait to launch. they just go like this.

Base Mates QRA Scramble have a policy where the QRA Aircraft automatically become the priority aircraft on the airfield. All others must hold in position.

I don't think this is QRA since there is only one taking off. If it was QRA two would have taken off. Still awesome to see anyway, since they rarely do these performance take offs.

They also take off vertically on QRA to gain altitude faster, this is a standard take off

They sometimes use only one typhoon for a qra scramble, remember the 'bomb threat' on the airliner bound for manchester, they only scrambled one typhoon for that and they dont always takeoff and go vertical it varies depending on the situation. Also this typhoon is fully loaded with 8 air to air missiles and takes off in full afterburner, the RAF don't do that unless its for qra.

Meteors aren't in service yet, I believe that they're being brought in to service in 2017. They'll be the replacement for AMRAAM. Brimstone is coming into service on the typhoon in 2018 as well.

spOOnTheGamer The euro-fighter isn't the best aircraft... The F22 blitzes this in an air to air combat situation and the FA-18e runs rings round it. The yanks have the better aircraft, fact!

+Risky Tactics and so is the typhoons, the care free handling is unique to this aircraft and the thrust to weight ratio is second to none. Don't even get me started on the manoeverbility of this thing.

QRA is always a vertical take off. Currently on Coningsby and been watching the aircraft

Performance wastes fuel as they need to use the afterburner.
