I sold my K12.2 and bought the CP12. Huge difference in weight and they are super compact. Sound wise I really didn’t noticed much difference, K12.2 surely are louder and have more features but those CP12 are more than enough for me

These are truly the loudest little box I've ever owned. I play the source (hip hop and r&b) in mono and it makes a big difference. Base is set at 3pm, treble is around 1pm, and l/r channel gain is set to 10pm on my Rane 72MK2 and that seems to work well without subs. PS, I paired these with my Alto TS415's and it sounds like a mini concert :) Great job QSC.

One of my brand new K10.2 stopped producing audio during *cocktail hour* at my last wedding. Thankfully I had a backup, but I was SO disappointed since I just got them five months ago. They'll be repaired under warranty once parts are available, but i don't trust them for mains any longer. I'm looking very closely at the CP 12. I've heard great reports on it. Thanks for the review.

Great review on these!!! I personally use the CP8 for a monitor. I play drums and don't always play with groups where I can use my IEM's. It's light and and sounds AMZING! It also cranks loud enough to hear perfectly with plugs in. One of the bands I play in uses the K series mains and the CP line is on par with those. WAY better than any monitor I have ever used in the past. For a little 8" driver, it has great low end response. I don't drive a crazy amount of bass through it but, it sure has been able to handle ANYTHING I've thrown at it. If you're just running vocals for rehearsal, two of these would be more than adequate for most bands. If you need to run Keys or any instruments along with vocals, I would go with the CP12's. For a guitarist / vocalist duo at a coffee shop, one of the CP8's on a stand would be more than enough. A little workhorse for sure!

Lotta work went into this video and I'm grateful. I'm stuck between purchasing CP12s, spending more cash to get K10.2s, or considering Yamaha DXR10s. Unfortunately had a K12 go out on me at an event recently (which I've had FOREVER and honestly pushed much harder than I ever should have for years). This is helping me process my choice.

Hi dont get the DXR's... I bough 4 in Thailand and unlike other powered speakers they dont have fuses. I only have one left. When sent the speaker in for repair they quote more expensive than I paid for the actual speaker from new. Stay away from Yamaha speakers. Only sound good when used with subs as the bass rattles the cabinets when used alone.

@@marshalljames2044 I ended up getting the DXR10s and this was not my experience. I have already gigged with them 5 times and they easily handled everything my QSC K12s did. I have yet to see them peak or fail, and I did an event with over 200 people in an outside environment. Also...I dont understand why you paid for repairs, these speakers have a 7 year warranty.
@marshalljames20445 жыл бұрын
@@DJEarlThe3rd I had the 8" models. Did not come with 7 years warranty. Very u reliable. However I am living in a humid environment and I think that is what they couldn't handle. I went with cerwin vega P series and they've out classed my experience with yamaha. Better build, more power and much better sound. Good luck with yours. Best Bradley

Do these have much hiss or noise at low levels or while nothing is playing? I'm looking at getting these for portable DJing while doubling as a bedroom speaker for low level listening but would require them to be silent or close to it while nothing is playing.

Hi! Newbie here in audio set up. I recently bought a pair of QSC CP12. I don't have a mixing console yet and I tried to use both speakers connecting through input C using my cell phone to play some songs. I used my 2nd unit cp12 as extension speaker. The manual says from MIX OUT (Post gain) of one speaker (serving as the main) connecting to input A of another speaker (extension), the gain level of which should be set to 0 db. And when the gains on the extension speaker are set on zero, the extension's output level is the same as the master's output level. Control both master and extension output using the master's Gain controls. I did this but there is no sound coming out from the extension speaker. I need to adjust the gain of the extension speaker for the sound to come out. And the thing is I have to set the gain of the extension speaker to 12 o clock while in the master/main speaker is set to 8 o clock only and it produces a bit of equal sound strength. Obviously, I have to set the gain of the extension speaker higher to match the main speaker contrary to what the manual says. Any thoughts on this? TIA.

I do solo sax with backing tracks gigs all the time. My CP12s were a godsend with my lower back issues! Since I purchased these, I have not taken my original K12s out of the garage. The CPs have all the power I need for cocktail hours etc. I did test my own K12 against the floor display CP12 at Guitar Center, and I did think my K12 sounded a smidge richer. However, it's not a difference worth lugging the extra 12 lb in and out of my trunk. For that rare gig where I might need more power, I'm wondering if I should sell my K12s and use the money toward a K112 to pair with these (and suck up the 62lbs. What do you think?

Overall, good video. However you have some misinformation in regards to the "mic boost" switch. It is NOT the same thing as the speech setting on the DSP knob. The speech setting changes the eq, where the mic boost gives you the option to use a mic level or line level source.

Just curious what setting you had the CP12’s on at the gig? Did you use ext sub? I have the og K10’s but thinking the CP12 would be a decent upgrade. Thoughts? Great review!

DjTecniq CP12S were paired with a KW181 sub. They had trouble keeping up to be honest. I'd recommended a smaller sub like what's mentioned in the video. They were set to external sub.

DjTecniq Yeah. K12s are still available. I was actually looking st picking up a used set. I like them better than my k12.2s for a "set it and forget it" type of event. I always need my subs with the k12.2's. Reach out to IDJNOW and see what they have available!

You describe how they function and then tell us you had them paired with (less then optimal) subs. So now I know nothing of how they perform on their own. If I want to have a compact PA then I want to have speakers that don't need a sub. Great that I won't hurt my back with these, but then I need subs too and they'll be heavier and will fill the car.
@idjnow-gear-up2 жыл бұрын
Hello Andrew, these are great for small venues like cocktail or ceremony sound. or a small catering space for max 75 or up to 100 guests. but it also depends on how loud you want to go. if its to fill a small space for sound then these are great. if you do want more of a punch you can pair these with the QSC K112 for more of a compact rig. if you have any questions feel free to reach out to sales@idjnow.com Thanks

So from this review I note that these are over exaggerated speakers. QSC have now started to exaggerated the power rating at 1000 which is peak and not RMS, the 126db is also max peak (likely 121 or there about) and worse of all you can't pick these up less than £1200. I'm gonna look at the Rcf 712a mk4. Better specs, sound and half the price. QSC gonna have do to better than to use the brand to sell the product.
@idjnow-gear-up4 жыл бұрын
