Whether since I have 4, the most is the Allen Heath CQ-18T, or the Mackie DL16S, or the Soundcraft Ui24R or simply I get my Yamaha AG06...

Great tips, THANK YOU! I am getting a CP8 tomorrow. How can I connect my sub to it. Do I go into my Sub first, then, into which XLR input? I am also planning to run another XLR for my GUITAR signal (coming out of my amps DI output) and also, use the AUX in for backing tracks. I think I should use the AUX in on the amp- and let the DI push everything to the CP8- but I am clueless. Any help is appreciated.

Whatever you do is ok, I suggest to don't forget to set the DSP in "Ext Sub" in order to get more power from the CP when you are using a sub. Definitively if you can concentrate all the signals from one source instead of use the speaker to divert all your signals... as a matter of fact the CP has only 2 inputs, because the "Aux In" is slaved on the channel 2, so I strongly recommend to go to the CP with all the signals from one source.

@@sonumwave Thanks. Ironically, I was on the phone with QSC and read your reply. He made one correction. C (aux) is slaved to A (not B.) The gain of A controls the aux in volume. I do have a Sub. I was thinking of by passing the QSC, keeping it set to DEFAULT (full signal) and running the sub separately. Are you saying this is a bad idea? I don't plan to play very loud- maybe ~0 dB (gain) max. I have a bad ear so I don't want it ringing all day. IF I go out of my Fishman Mini, I would use the DI Output. I could go Aux in on the Fishman and using the DI XLR Output into INPUT A on the QSC. I can control my backing tracks from my cell phone device. Then, are you saying I would simply go MIX OUT (shielded XLR) to my Subs INPUT? In this scenario, change the QSC to DEFAULT "EXT. SUB?" I guess what you are saying is that if it is not working to pump negligible bass and mids, I will have more headroom for the higher frequencies? The QCS is so nice though I almost hate to take away the full range signal. I demoed it at GC last week and the sound blew me away. He also said even if I bought used from GC, they would honor the 6 year warranty if I register it. I glanced the warranty online and I did not see anything that said it only applies to the original owner. He said since I bought via GC, it would transfer- not if I bought it say directly 2nd hand or on Ebay, Reverb, etc. I hope he is right...and I hope I never have to find out! Thanks again!

@@MOAB-UT You're right, is the channel A. If you have a sub, you don1,t need to amplify bass on the CP, this can cause to have frequencies that kill each other since the sub cut the low frequencies different than the CP, and they may encounter harmonics or a simple note that will not be heard.

Have you tried the K8.2?
@sonumwave
@sonumwave 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I owned the K8, and the K12, and ultimately a pair of K12.2. Unfortunately during the pandemic I was trapped on an island (Tenerife) in Spain and could not get out in about a year, no work obviously, and regrettably I had to sold all of them except the CP8’s and the reason was at the moment they were the most valuable, so I could get more money to survive to buy food for my family of 5 by the moment. What I have to say since I am a registered client of the brand QSC since 2009, is that having had the K12 then the K12.2, as well the K8, the sound of the CP8 is less effective in terms of the highs than the lows. The bass is as deep on both. But I am not sure about the SPL, you know the watts today’s day are not so important, instead the pressure of the sound level (SPL) matter the most. Another issue is the difference of price, is that 300$ that put us to think…

Easy!, they fit with their own tote in a big bag, then I used two bags, each on them were "protected" with pants, shirts, even with a thin pillow in the front (grill) then I closed the bags perfectly!, since they are 9 Kilograms weight and the airline allows up to 23 Kg I could put them separated in two bags, taking precaution to locate them in the bottom of the bag. They travelled these roundtrips so far: From Miami to Cali (Colombia) From Miami to Madrid (Spain) From Madrid to Canary Islands Tenerife (Spain) Ans still are working fine.

I am considering two CP8s for band practice / family - friends small performances. What stands do you recommend for them? I already purchased Yamaha MG20XU mixer a year (not used yet)ago and XLR cables. I don't know if I should get a third CP8 or something else as a monitor. What do you think? I did not see a monitor in your clips here.

Any decent speaker stand can do the work because their little weight. We don’t have analog mixers, we use a Mackie DL16S which I recommend because is blocks away better than the MG 20 (which truly don’t have 20 channels) and the Soundcraft Ui24R. We got rid of floor monitors because we don’t want to carry more things, we have wireless In Ear Monitors for vocals (LD1000) and wired for the rest of the band (the rugged and excellent Behringer P2). That’s why you don’t see them.

cree que con una sola de las cabinas podria cubrir perfectamente un evento a campo abierto para 100 personas o ya para ese tipo de espacios sea obligatoriamente las dos ?

Well, you’ll be surprised with the difference!. I had four Bose S1 Pro… simply NO! I used them with my quintet and was a disaster. What I could do with those four S1 is easy accomplished with only one CP8. They are 1000W and 126dB!

Thx for the samples / video - Quite helpful. Also looking for two of them (because of the available transport bags). Btw.: How good are the CP8s regarding self noise / base noise?
@sonumwave
@sonumwave 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Let tell you by the simplest ears ever, which are the regular people who are not musicians, nor sound experts, I’ve heard phrases such “that music is loud, but don’t disturb me, even I can talk”. Once in a party at open space about a dozen people ask me how I could do that sound, and one of them started taking pictures of the speakers. The THD is less than 1%, and the S/N Ratio is above 89dB, those values are extremely good specially when we are talking about high levels of power, the other good feature is the power they drain, at 220V they can deliver 500W RMS using only 0.33 Amperes. The best are their weight, included the bag you carry less than 11Kgs!

@@sonumwave Thx for the fast and detailed reply. But I just meant the base self-noise as soon as you switch it on (without any signal coming) ^^. I am planning to use the CP8 for conferences / live streaming events with alot of silent or speech only applications. There the self noise (which you always get from an active speaker) is quite relevant. So how is the CP8 behaving regarding that aspect? Thx again. LG
@sonumwave
@sonumwave 2 жыл бұрын
@@AustrianGeek in these four years of use, that noise depends on some factors. Many times is the quality of the mixer, once I used them connected to a Behringer Xenix, and I noticed that noise, but 90% of the time they are connected whether to a Mackie DL16S, and a Soundcraft Ui24R. Recently I was doing sound for a group of Salsa dancers and they provide me a DJ, who was using his own mixer, “Hercules” was the brand. During a silence moment that the water park asked for 7 minutes due to a zumba show, I went to the speakers and check in the back because fell like the power went off, but they were on. Remember that having cellPhones close, problems with cables, or a gain set too low or too high can generate noise. In the “Mic” mode depending the quality of a wireless system you can get noise as well.

How do I connect this to a mixer? Plugging a sure sm58 directly into the mic line sounds muffled and very muddy. Mids are way too prominent
@sonumwave
@sonumwave Жыл бұрын
The speaker has a switch that says “line” or “. Connecting a microphone directly in the input on the speaker without changing this switch will cause the microphone to distort because the pre-amplifier is doing its job pre-amplifying its signal way too much. You can connect any mixer, but make sure is not a powered one. All mixers have two outputs identified as “Main Outputs”, you just need a pair of the proper cables and that’s it!
@Vanhalen1
@Vanhalen1 Жыл бұрын
@Sonumwave Hi, thanks for your response. The only switch I see in channel B is a mic boost button. I don't see a switch for "line" or "mic". I do see where it says mic/line on channel B but no actual dedicated switch. Like a push button switch to change between the two. You can use a quarter inch for guitar or an xlr for mic. Unless I'm missing something. Hopefully, I am. Pushing the mic boost button doesn't clear up the sound of my mic. Still sounds dark and midy. I'm using a beta sm 58
@sonumwave
@sonumwave Жыл бұрын
@@Vanhalen1 well I don’t remember exactly since I have the units on the storage. Yes that switch on channel B is to boost the signal of a microphone, and only you press that button to work with one. For default the speaker is on “line” or boost off mode.

@sonumwave
@sonumwave Жыл бұрын
Probably you can’t believe it… the first and last video is just a my wife’s iPhone 11 by that time. Yes, is the original recording audio from her phone. The second video the one in that club where we have the big screen behind us is the same iPhone, but the audio is a mix from the phone and a Zoom Q2n camera that was facing in front of us to pick up the sound at high levels of pressure. That camera can hold up to 120dB SPL and it could pick up the stereo mix from my backing tracks. That’s why you can hear on that song (El Gran Varon) a kind of “double mix” because the equalization and distance of both capture devices was significant.

There are 4 video references, on the 3rd one, I am singing “Suavemente” as solo performer, on that one there is only the CP8 alone. On the remaining video references and because the crowd (average 100+) I am using two CPs and one RCF Evox 8, which has a 12” woofer with 500W RMS. I think the CP8 are very good but if you want a extremely deep sub bass decide better for the CP12.

@@davetube2ful Beautiful, well, I am 60!, just recovering from a dislocated knee that put me on crutches for one month, yeah, send me something because I know JBL and it is a brand I have only bad experiences, since the first generation of EON, for what you intend of use I think the CP8 is perfect. I sing in bars with only one of them with backing tracks that mostly I "build" with a combination of the app MOISES and GarageBand. Moises works on any song separating it in 5 tracks: Drums, Bass, Piano, Other (Which are horns, etc) and Vocals. Most of the time the Horns and piano are in the same track, then I put everything in GarageBand or Studio One, re mix, re equalize, with the advantage that I can accent the drums, improve the bass, and give more live to the horns, etc. But the problem is the vocals, since they are completely removed, always the AI take out the background vocals or chorus, so unless I start doing a very tedious edit, cut, paste, I simply record with my voice those, sometimes doing a playback I spent an entire morning because a record a minimum of 6 channels... Yeah let me know your experience with the new CP8
