Well let me tell you, these things rock. Got to hear them tonight at a local Guitar Center. We COULD NOT get these things to limit, even with deep mode. They’re not as deep as the SRX818s but they’re certainly louder. Probably one of the loudest single 18s for under $2k

DJ ADRIANO BAY AREA louder and punchier this will win out for sure, especially for the size. I would see if you can listen to them and compare them to your 818s. For some songs I like the sound of the KS118 more because it is so defined, while for the deeper bass it’s hard to beat 818s and 828s. But for some songs that deeper bass ends up sounding a bit muddy. I wouldn’t be surprised if it took 3 818s to keep up with two of these around 50-60Hz

I heard it yesterday and I was not to impressed. Other then it’s much deeper and more extended from the kw181. This ks118 is certainly not 3600w I say it’s more like 1500w not much of a difference from kw to ks .

I wish if people are going to review equipment they know what they are talking about. The KW181 was 1000 watts RMS 2000 Peak. The KS118 is 1800 RMS 3600 Peak. I just bought 2 and they are killer. I had 4 KW181. Sold 2 after buying these. They do sound much better with the K12.2’s the sound is so clear and tight paired up.

This also probably means that a KLA118 is in the works. This is going to be game-changing with those cardioid features. Plus, if the dimensions are consistent, it points at an interesting, thinner size for a new KLA12.2. I’ve always been more of a fan of ground stacking subs so the KS118s would do nicely

Went to idjnow to check these out... wasn’t impressed. Maybe because it’s an omnidirectional sub, but I compared it to the RCF 8003 AS (2200 watt peak - 1100 continuous) and it was NIGHT AND DAY! That rcf sub was $1826 there... the punch was insane. Felt it in my chest rather than the 118 which just made the stuff in the room rattle and make noise. Test was done 12 o’clock on both subs (tops were at same volume as well ) and for control, played same tune. Mixer playing music was on first 12 o’clock and then 3.... it wasn’t until we put the QSC dial itself between 2-3 o’clock that it started punching. Both subs were in center of room so no corner loading from the RCF.

There are companies overseas making dual-22" active subs with 7,000 watts for $8,000. I'm so thankful that QSC has stayed with the $1499 price because it really is worth $3,000 and I can afford this. I just bought 10.2 speakers and 1 118 sub to pair with them. Should I have gone with 2 112’s instead? How would sound quality compare with 2 of the 112’s vs the one 118. I’m also considering trading the 118 out for the 2 112’s for that transportation ability as well, but regardless of transportation, ultimately sound is important, what would anyone suggest. I play live and most use for at home use for karaoke parties. I plug in to play live music as well and also to enjoy music from home for parties/get together etc. I may get into gigging more down the road so I thought the 112’s may be more convenient, but I don’t want to compromise on sound quality overall just for the convenience factor. Long story short who’s the winner? 2 112’s or 1 118???!!
@idjnow-gear-up
@idjnow-gear-up 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Brandon, well lets start with the boxes between both. the 118 is bigger and heavier than the 112 sub. however 1 single ks118 will hit harder and deeper than 2 112 subs. also the 118 can go as low as 35hz so its great for bass guitar note that you or you band may play in live settings. also if you were to go with 2 ks118s you can easily fill a larger venues were as the 112 may struggle to do so. the 112 subs are lighter and slimmer making it easy to travel with but as far as the quality and sound my heart relies on low hertz for live sound. hope this helps. if you need help on getting a good deal please reach out to deals@idjnow.com thx

@@QSCAudioProducts The only thing is price; so many DJs and venues I know (myself included) bought JBL SRX828SPs because of how it is priced compared to other subs. It's like getting another 18" sub for $400. Then, people end up getting the SRX tops to match (plus because they network together). I'm not sure how intentional JBL was at pricing their SRX828, but it almost feels like they're taking a loss, which brings people into buying their system. For instance, 2x SRX812Ps and 1x SRX828SPs is (1300)*2 + 2000 = $4600. And 2x K12.2s and 2x KSS118s is (800)*2 + (1500)*2 = $4600. Of course, if you go the second route then you have to find a way to move the SRX828 xD. And JBL's warranty on the SRXs can't hold a candle to QSCs. But it was a smart move on the marketing team because most mobile DJ's probably wouldn't have considered the SRX series if the price of the double 18 wasn't the way it was or didn't exist at all. I'm sure QSC has their reasons for not going down the KS218 route. For one, a 7200W peak amp that draws 6A at 1/3 power at 120V may be intimidating to some (whereas the 828 only draws 2000W peak, calling into question what the hell is going on with the sensitivity to get 141dBSPL-another issue entirely). But the 828 performs very well. If I were QSC, and had to design the KS218, I would look into the feasibility of allowing one of the drivers to be rotated around to have a vertically stacked cardioid array or a two direct radiating subs out the front by taking off the grille (much like how Yamaha's DZR allows for a rotation of the HF component when used as a floor monitor).

idjnow yo seriously? you keep saying the SAME DAMN REPLY for all the comments asking about the RMS wattage, like really? Your website DOES NOT list it either ... so either fix your website or tell the RMS wattage specs . Quit dicking your customers around . If you dont know it then reply “I dont know” . Simple as that .

I rate QSC cause I have the K12 Series for some years now with no issues but I'll say that 3600W is peak ratings, The Loudest Power Subs on the Market are Yorkville an if you own one of those Ls801p or Ls21 or the Es18p then you will know what am talking about, them shits is earthquake

drummerboy100jh I have heard and have used the es18p, 801p, and 2100p. All of them very, very loud, but not very low or clean. YMMV. All in what your into, and what works best for you.

IT IS 3600 peak. If the KW181 is 1000w at 2000w peak, the this is most likely 1800w at 3600w peak. SMH

This sub gets too much hype for what it is. I feel like this video is a sham.I just got the KS118 it because of all the hype saying that its so great but im not impressed. I wouldnt call it a beast. Was expecting much more for the price. Not very loud, tested it with my Pioneer RX2 and it cut out several times. It doesnt hit the lows good either, a $1k JBL sub i tested side by side at guitar center sounded much better in the lows but still went with the qsc cause i thought I'd be able to tweek it at home for better sound, nope. The casters also rattle like crazy so theyre pretty much useless. Its good but not great. 3 out 5 stars.

QSC warranty means nothing if you do not live close to an authorized service center. Have a set of KW-153's just over a year old and they wanted me to drive either 4 hours or ship the speaker to a service center. ABSOLUTE JOKE!

Qsc is way overrated.. I have 2 Full range E.V. speakers that put out way more bass than these stupid subs ever will. The problem with qsc subs is that the box is way too small for the woofers. They bottom out.

@@idjnow-gear-up what's happening Brother, for that particular 18" sub, that box is too small.. it should be 2 times bigger than what it is.. if you tried to play any Miami Bass or some old school reggae really loud, the sub will bottom out and eventually Blow.. qsc subs are not made for loud Ass Boomy Chest pounding Bass.. i have 2 E.V. speakers that will Blow any qsc speakers out of this universe

marky mark, this is the best sub for special or mobile events. if you are using subs for outdoors best is always to use non-powered long or short excursion cabinets.

@@idjnow-gear-up take 2 of your qsc powered 18's and play DJ Magic Mike's "Feel the Bass" .. turn up the volume 3/4 way up and see how they sound.. they will bottom out. Or even play "Going Back to Cali" by LL cool J.. those subs are not made for that type of music. Again, My E.V. speakers that are over 30 years old will BLOW THE SHIT OUT OF qsc subs.. my E.V. speakers are 3 way Full range. Each speaker weighs about 165lbs, puts outs 2100watts RMS and 136 continuous spl with 141 peak.. 18" woofer, 10" midrange and an Extreme high output Baby Cheek Tweeter.. the sub needs almost 7 cubic feet of air space to have that much Bass output.. if you took the raw qsc subwoofer out of its box and put it in the correct cubic foot box it would sound 3 times better. I used to build sub boxes, the qsc box is too small.. it needs more airspace to move freely and sound better.
