QSC KW PA Overview

The main PA speakers we use at RVA Live Sound and PA Rental Inc are QSC KW 153 tops and QSC KW 118 subwoofers. These speakers do the job and have not let me down at an event. Depends on the room and how the people are arranged in the audience area. Pairing the 153's (2 per side depending how you orient them) might cause too many different arrival times across the audience area (or comb filtering). I have seen a sound company use three 153's per side for an outdoor show with around 1,000 people in attendance. If I had to guess without knowing more details, I would say yes your setup sounds like it will be able to provide adequate coverage.

Humm thats very interesting i've never heard if comb filtering before sounds like it might be a problem. and the room would be a basketball court with a 3 foot high stage and 2 153's per side like you mentioned on top of 2 181's

Really nice speakers. My question is if you had Four KW181's and Four KW153's would that be enough for 500 people with the sound still being very loud?

I will be making a video soon covering real world examples of situations where I've faced (comb filtering, room modes, arrival times etc). These are issues that are a reality for soundmen/speaker designers and venue owners. There is a lot of misinformation out there and plenty of marketing hype to help confuse things further.
