Flew it at my RC club last weekend for the first time and it is a very fun little plane! I was a little confused when transitioning from quad to plane because it became so quite that I thought that the motors had stopped at first. It flies well, but is a little flimsy on the back end. I am thinking of gluing some spars to it to help strengthen it.

This looks like a great fun plane with vector thrust.I had the X420 (brushed) which flew well but it got crushed by a van!!! I could do with adding a plane to my hangar, and this looks like a good contender, its vertical flight features making it more interesting.

I'm jealous of your flight area. I have trees around mine, and I was not ready for how fast this is- I had throttle up in Drone Mode and switching to Airplane Mode it flew very well into a headwind (light breeze but banking out of it, turned into a tailwind and ripped across my field and caught itself in a tree. Damaged a motor tilt servo hoping swivelling would free the plane, and damaged an elevator servo getting the plane out of the tree. The props were undamaged surprisingly. I need a place with no trees or obstacles for miles like yours!

What?!! You've been missing a ton of fun. Get it into the air. Only 2 things you need - a large obstacle-free area and a friend standing at your shoulder yelling "Pitch stick BACK to go up!" After watching about 20 different videos on the X KX 450 (I think yours is the best...), I finally bought one ($119 from Walmart) and test flew it this morning. My only problem (so far) is that it rises off the ground and moves backwards at about 1 foot per second. I tried adjusting the trim forward, but it just barely helped. I saw that the "Manual" that comes with it apparently has something about what to do, but the Japanese "gibberish" didn't help me at all... So, could you tell me how you would go about adjusting the servo arms to fix this? I would imagine a number of people are having trouble with this... THANX!!! Dennis (Instgtr)
@Quadcopter101 Жыл бұрын
Before messing with the servos, see if you can calibrate its gyros. Place the plane on a flat level surface and connect it to its controller. Next, move and hold both sticks down and to the left for about three seconds. Then move and hold both sticks down and to the right for about three seconds. Then takeoff and see if that corrected the problem. If it worked, it should remember the calibration for follow on flights.

After a full year i can say i am an experienced quadcopter pilot, but this is going a little to fast for me. First i would need my glasses on and a tag attached to that drone :) But i still think im going to buy one ... its relativly cheap now these days, and see if my brain can handle it. If i can learn myself to handle it it would also make me a better quadcop pilot i guess. Now i need to do things step by step and keep things safe and slow. I have a few hernia`s and with that alot of nervepain and strong painkillers so my brain isnt keeping up with the speed of that thing :) We have open fields 4km x 2km without any obsticals or roads, so that would be safe enough for me to train my brain with this :) Thanks for this review !!

Hi. Thanks for posting this. 2 questions. What kind of telemetry do you get on the screen and, I’ve been flying drones for about a year and wouldn’t mind trying out planes or maybe gliders. Can I use this to transition or get my feet wet ? Or is there something else I can try ? Thanks again for your vids !
@Quadcopter1015 жыл бұрын
No telemetry. And would not recommend this for beginner fliers as it is too fast in airplane mode for a beginner to keep up with. If you are looking for a brushless plane that is suitable for beginner pilots, then I would recommend that you consider either of the following. Both are easy gentle fliers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWLMpmiErMeerdU kzbin.info/www/bejne/apXPi5qLnbeJgZY

No up down needed. But down and out on both sticks will start the motors in idle. The drone won't take off until you raise the throttle past mid position. Please see the video from 8:50 to 9:43, where I discuss this in detail. Also see the video starting at 12:12 for demonstration.

if you have problem breaking props you can use WLtoys XK X251 props work fine maybe little stronger
@theoztreecrasher26475 жыл бұрын
Are you sure about that? They are 2-bladed props and do fit the X520 V-tol. This uses 3-bladed props and I believe the motors are a bit different also - though the shape of the prop shaft does look similar. Edit. My mistake. Just got 1 & this does use 2 bladed props and the same size motors as the X520 & X251. However the props on this are shorter, the mounting hub is much thicker and the motor shaft looks longer to compensate. The X520 props won't fit this without adding several washers at least.

Any link you can provide for a or the the camera that the cutout in the nose was made to install one.The videos I have seen for camera mods are all for mounting one on the top,and cutting off some foam so they will work.I really want fpv for mine,and would like to use the one they provided the space to put it in.
@Quadcopter1015 жыл бұрын
It's not a good idea to install one there for two reasons. First is that it will be looking with a downward angle (not good at all for FPV flying). Second it's a terrible location in that it is very likely to be damaged there in a crash or hard landing.
@barriepresseien15355 жыл бұрын
@@Quadcopter101 Thanks, I was actually taking this into account, hoping that the camera may have a tilting lens,for drone mode. Whoever designed the plane and left that cutout area might have had that in mind, but I haven't been able to find anything.There was a video posted in which the person holding the plane had a camera mounted there,and it appears the lens can swivel up or downwards. His didn't mention anything about it, and I don't think he was aware there was a camera installed. I will try to find it and post the link to you.As far as crashing is concerned, if I crashed hard enough to damage the camera, I don't think the plane would be airworthy anymore anyway. Most of the newer drones have put the cameras in the very front, with a motorized control for adjusting the angle,such as the HS720 and HS270.My HS270's replacement battery, which is 2500mAh, is not the same as the 3500mAh battery it originally came with, and fried the intelligent board inside the battery module, causing it to fall like a brick out of the sky.It crashed nose first from over 80 feet,and that was the end of it's usefulness, but there are salvageable parts.Holy Stone actually sent me a replacement under warranty after sending them pictures of the battery disassembled. They have great customer service,.There are a slew of new drones on the market with the camera embedded in the nose of them.

I have this and both the X520 & the X420. I prefer to fly the X520 as it's a lot more forgiving and easily repairable after my frequent crashes. That usually only takes glue & tape. With this a heavy crash is much more likely to involve a long wait for parts. When working correctly & flown with skill it is a marvelous bit of kit though.

someone in RC groups took a tiny whoop (micro racing quad) FC board, and used that to provide OSD. So I can recycle the FC board off a damaged tiny whoop that one esc is damaged on, since it won't need to power motors. probably going to use a split-type camera and move the vtx back to the rear of the canopy and the camera as close to the nose as possible.
