One more fantastic video! Because of you i've started this hobby and i'm not regret of it! Start with Lishitoy L6052, Syma X5C, WL262, and after many flight's and some crashes i has prepared to the next step. MINIDRONE Racing. I'm now on 250 race quad's with FPV, and this is a new and different world. something like Fast & Furious. I purchased the new Walkera 250 Runner GPS/Advanced with transmitter, backpack, etc. I purchased the unit from iUAS, the Walkera US distributor. I own a Walkera Scout X4 that I really enjoy, even though its not as civilized as the DJI I own. So, I thought the bad reviews were due to the same lack of polish... I was very wrong. I am not an expert pilot, but I own drones and have built/flown a few 250 quads, so I know how they should work and I know how to fly them and have fun. I watched a couple of review videos and they seemed to show a great option for an RTF 250 with GPS options. Now, looking back, I do recall that the reviews were simply taking the drone and flying it in circles. Simple, steady state, and probably "simple" for the systems. Once you try to fly and maneuver and put the model through minimal paces, you will find it hard to fly... maybe its under powered or maybe lag based on the models I have built. I am not an expert, but if doesnt "feel" good as far as flying goes. and then.... THE FLIP/ROLL OF DEATH. I have had the flip of death once I moved beyond the most simple forward and backwards motion. It appears that any type of straight up acceleration causes one of the sides of the rotors to just cut out and stop running, throwing the craft into a very obvious spiral. This showed that the machine is not that well built as far as the 2 antennas, and they will bread off quickly. This has happened three times now, so I have stopped flying. After the second time I notified the US distributor and I have had little luck with them. I have given them 3 days to resolve the issue and then I will dispute the credit card charges and ship the useless item back. DO NOT BUY THIS. It is not ready for use and when it comes rolling out to the sky IT IS DANGEROUS!!!

Nice video, just received my Runner 250 yesterday. Awesome little flyer, only thing I don't like is the battery tray & main frame boards are a little light & flexible, I ordered spares & doubled up the battery tray. The inbuilt 800TVL FPV camera has a really great image on my Skyzone goggles, nice & clear. To get the center of gravity right on this quad you need to have the battery hanging a fair way out the back or you get lots of forward drift.;) Edit: Added some thin rubber mat to the battery tray to stop the battery sliding around when flying & stopping fast.:)

my quadcopter Motors barely get warm. even if they're super hot touching would not cause harm but you would know if you needed to prop down or could prop up. they also have electronic point temperature testers

Could you please do a setting up video for Walkera runner 250 pro. I tried to do bind the transmitter (Devo 7) to the drone and I was unable to do. I even took the drone to the shop even they couldn't. I would appreciate if you could do a video related to this product. binding is a pain in the ass even though they advertise as a ready to fly drone.

I have one of these and I've built two INIs for the DiviationTX for it. I don't know how it flies with the Devo 7, but on the 7E I have the yaw expo'd with -50 because ime, the yaw is either off or spinning like a top. I may build a multi-point expo curve into it later. I also flew it about 5 seconds in Acro mode just to verify it works. I like this quad too. It's very very fast, but it also feels heavy to me, for lack of better description. I plan on downsizing the battery from a 2200 to a 1500-ish. It'll give lower run times, but should lighten the quad for better response. Right now (probably because I still need to tune the ini) my 200qx runs rings around it.

i forget right now but all you should need to do fpv is a 5.8 tx, and screen/goggles. if you have 3 bricks (as i call them) on the center board youll just need a screen/goggles, and a 5.8 tx. probably old info for you, but ill post it anyhow for others.

You should check out the rc eye one xtreme, I just got it and it can carry a gopro, it has brushless motors and it has full manual mode as well as other modes. I think it's a great quadcopter to transition from toy grade to hobby grade especially for the price!

I assume the FPV camera has a microSD card for recording so you didn't need the keychain camera. I've been taught to always turn your controller on first otherwise your drone might get a signal from something else and take off before you ready. You should also turn off your controller last.

jggraphx Out of that whole commercial, the only thing of interest was the on screen display at 40 to 45 seconds. I found it surprising that range wasn't included in the display. Lat and Long is kind of useless for the close range flying of this quad. Range is a much more important parameter to display. I wonder if it's selectable?

+Quadcopter 101 yeah I think it's just an introduction of the new Advanced 250.. I noticed on your antenna wires are a lot longer than the one that I have on my RX 710.. My antenna wires were cut really really short I don't like that I think I might have some range problems in the future.. The other thing I noticed that I didn't like is if you crash you break one arm you have to replace the whole front in same thing goes for the back arms you can't just replace one arm that I don't like... Going to look into some carbon fiber sheets and cut out extra arms on my own... Oh and I change the props to those props are terrible one crashing you're done.. I'm using GEMFAN 6045 just awesome props! 👍🏻 don't like the self taking👎🏻

So now that I have built up experience with flying quad copters (sky viper s670 on mode 3 and their mirco drone of the expert mode, I even dodged a bird that was going to hit my drone! I feel confident with stepping up to fpv racing, so is this a good drone for me? I do know It is not for beginners (in droneing) it is for intermediates wanting to enter fpv racing. So is this the drone for me?

+rek sanity I think so. I think its good for intermediates in that very little tweaking of this quadcopter's PIDS are needed to fly well. It seems to be ready to go out of the box.

Please be aware that you need to verify that "Throttle Fail-Safe" is enabled on this quad, because if not this quad WILL fly away if there is a break, or malfunction in the connection between the TX and RX.

Quadcopter 101 Sorry my last reply went blank. Here it is again. Failsafe can be set up at the Devo 7. 1. From the Function menu, select "SAFE" 2. Press ENT 3. Press DN until "THRO" is displayed, default value is "HOLD" which we don't want. 4. Press L so that "SAFE" is displayed under "THRO". 5. Press DN and verify that "L 100%" is displayed under "THRO". 6. Press EXT a few times to exit. Verify that this works by removing propellers from the Runner, bind it to the Devo 7, get the motors spinning, then cut the power from the Devo 7. If failsafe was set up correctly the Runner motors should stop.

How would you compare this to the Eachine Falcon? I need help deciding between the two. I already own a Eachine Racer FVP Kit. Also, considering buying the Eachine 1080p FPV goggles. @@Quadcopter101 Yes, the rear right led is off. The image from the drone camera arrives at the radio control (Devo F7). Could it be some configuration in the radio control? It functioned normally.

Aw shucks ... I was hoping you'd open it up. You need to go watch a few "Charpu" KZbin videos to get inspired. Depending on what kind of controller is in it, all modes are more or less "manual" .. some are just more restricted than others. For example, on my ZMR250 with Naze32 controller with Taranis 9DPlus TX and FrSky D4R-II RX running PPM, I can switch between 'Angle', 'Horizon' and 'Rate' modes. Angle mode limits your forward pitch to about 45 deg. In the other two, you have exponential rates set up on your sticks so that you are easy around the centers, but when you want to flip or roll, you punch a little throttle and bang the pitch/roll stick in the direction you want to flip. It's not too bad. Take out your NiHui 807 and fly it flat out with full pitch to get the feel for speed, and the transition will come easier. Those racers are meant to fly F-A-S-T ... 75-80 mph with a 3S pack. Hope to see more of this one and you pushing the envelope! Cheers!

thanks for the recomendation! Im looking to get this thing working, got a friends box-o-parts, and it sounds right up my alley,. I think i need a reciever, all I got is a busted devo (tried to solder the 710, but to many tiny pieces not just on each outter and inner..) tried attaching flysky to it.. its not as easy as the others cant betaflight/cleanflight it... so itys proven to be more problematic.. i may just get another 710 and call it ixed if it's not the board.. but 40$in parts not what i wanna drop. thanks for the reccomendaiton, i will check it out. cant seem to find anyone flying this one other than park circles.

rayikaikin That may be true, but the timing is way different from a real quad to something like the qx. With the weight comes a different feel and timing that a micro quad just can't replicate.

Scott Perry Actually, the Nano QX is quite responsive in manual mode and is a wonderful practice quad. It's cheap, nearly impossible to destroy and you can fly it just about non-stop if you purchase 4 batteries and the e-flite 4-port charger.

NH-AV8R I wasn't knocking the quality of the qx in any way, I started with one myself. I was just saying that the weight of a 250 sized quad is going to make it respond somewhat differently, and that needs to be understood when going from something like the qx to a 250 or something else. Although you might have a lot of skill that can be translated form one to the other, there is still a small learning curve during the initial transition.

What's the range of the devo 9 included in this? I heard it can't go past 200m which won't be enough or reliable for fpv. Any insight will help!

Arad Levytan No that's wrong info. Also it's a Devo 7. The advertised range of this quadcopter with this transmitter is about 1000m. And there is an upcoming video to be released later this week with me flying this particular quadcopter out around 300m with it (couldn't fly any further as it was very difficult to see at 300m).

Cameron Klein I like it as you really don't need to fiddle with the PID's as it flies great with the stock settings. But you might not like it. It's a matter of taste. if you go full forword on the stick do the quad then do a flip or do it have a max forword angle ?

In 3D mode, the angle just keeps increasing until you let go of the stick. Then it slowly levels itself. So it's very similar to flying the old 3 axis stabilized quadcopters except there is no limiting of the tilt angle.

Great review,mine is super fast also, little jumpy on the first flight( mine was) took a little time to get used 2!!! Nice flying though 1000 meter range is awesome 2 Devo7 thumbs up. Also put something in-between the battery and the video connection on the board, reportedly people have had hard crashes and sheared the connection right off the board, just a little design flaw but nothing big to fix… and the CG is front heavy so putting the lipo as much towards the back of the craft will help with this.. Can't wait 4 your next review

I hate manual mode. When I first got my Venture it had a NAZA lite FC in it. You have to take off in manual mode. It was like flying my old 3D 6ch helis. Which is ok but when you want something stable it is a nightmare. I tore it out and putting it into my hex S550, replaced it with an APM 2.6 FC. The major reason to taking it out of the Venture is it doesn't handle H frames to well. By the way I have changed my scenic aerial videos from my main channel to a second one. FuYing Bro The Quanum Venture does NOT have to take off in manual mode. It is recommended that you take off in ATTI or GPS mode and then switch to manual if you care to.

FuYing Bro Manual mode is the best for Quad racing though, no need to keep fighting the sticks and the quads want to level out, in acro you just push forward once and it keeps going until you change direction… lot less stick work if you can get use to it…

Gimbal Guy I would add to your comment and say that Rate mode (manual) is the ONLY way to learn how to fly a quad. Without learning simple hovering and directional control unassisted you are only handicapping yourself. You will probably crash a lot (keep it low while you learn) and have to replace props, but learning how to actually fly one without the handicaps is a must if you ever plan on flying something like a race quad.

+REVSchronic Depends on the heli. But it's not for beginners as this quadcopter can hurt you or others. It's heavy and fast making it dangerous in the hands of a beginner flier who will crash many times as they learn to fly. Also its blades spin at very high RPM to lift that weight, making them somewhat dangerous also.

It has a 5.8Ghz FPV camera and transmitter. But you'll still need to provide your own 5.8Ghz FPV screen or goggles.

It is RTF. All I had to do was screw on its propellers, charge its battery, put AA batteries in the transmitter, and I was ready to go.

Quadcopter 101 Must be faster than that surely? Me and a friend were drag racing quads the other week along side a stretch of road in a field near an industrial estate. Passing cars going 25-30mph were slower than our quads(Tarantula and UDI). The price for the google package is cheaper than anything else I've seen. So tempting.

Wobble Copter Need to screw on the propellers, and strap in the battery (adjusting it for center of gravity). But other than that, no. Charged the battery and took it out to Satellite Lake for a flight :)

Quadcopter 101 Is this a 3 Axis or six when in stabilization mode.

Wobble Copter It is six axis stabilized (unless you turn gyro/accelerometer inputs off by flicking the upper right toggle switch on your transmitter, something I'm hesitant to do). You also have to keep your eye on it or it can get away from you. See the above video at 8:20
