Enjoyed the video, thx My questions are: 1. Do you think the top speed will be 90mph? 2. My issues with capturing fast moving video has always been fps. Even on the mavic 2 in sports mode 60fps just doesn't work well when an object changes direction unexpectedly for example. They don't seem to have 2.7k 120fps only 1080 which is too low res for most. Therefore I really hope for 4k 120fps or at the least 2.7k at 120fps. What are your thoughts on this?

@@rpatenau oh cool. Yes and no, I think I would like that choice as the videographer. This would be a filming drone for me. A gopro can easily do the 2.7k 120fps so would think they would have that option at least to match industry standard in the action camera arena?

Hey DevAxi, awesome you took the time to watch and comment! Much appreciated! I can guarantee it will be under 99mph as that is the FAA rule haha. But rumors point to a very fast top speed of 90+mph. As to your 2nd question, i think it is mostly just keeping the subject in the frame, vs. the extra frames per second. Surely it is extremely difficult but that is why top FPV pilots make the big bucks on commercial shoots.

i hope to see an increased framerate at lower resolutions. 4K60p is a good top end, hopefully that brings 120 at maybe 2.7k but surely that or better at 1080p.

Also hope that they do have high bitrate option where one needs over 100mbps write speed on micro sd. Sounds silly but these are just as important as the rest of the drone.

Hey Chris, awesome you took the time to watch and comment! Much appreciated! What makes the dji fpv drone interesting to you if you are already flying DJI FPV powered quads? Many think if you are already flying regular FPV that this drone is not interesting. I still think it will be a very good quality quad for many in either case.

@@Quadcopterguide Well, I fly for work for a couple of reasons. One, I map construction sites and do multispectral mapping on crops etc and I have a couple of Phantom 4 V2s that I use for that. I use the Inspire for mostly structural inspection work with a zoom camera that lets me stand off a bit and look at a subject. I also use drones for TV. Most of the time I use a Phantom to get an establishing shot or some B Roll footage of a location we are filming. If I really need dual controls for a camera operator I use the Inspire. I use the FPV quads to get more dynamic shots and they are great to soar through trees or other obstacles and reveal a location or subject. However, there are times when you want to land on a subject and hold your framing of the shot. That is difficult to do well with a FPV quad. When I FPV I carry a Osmo Action for those types of shots and the camera tilt is fixed. So, for instance on a recent shoot I flew down from a mountain view and dropped through the trees at speed. Shot up a winding creek, and under a bridge to land the shot on a pair of fly fishermen. Just a dynamic establishing shot. The FPV drone was great with its fixed camera tilt until I started slowing down and landing the shot on the subjects. The auto camera tilt that the new FPV drone offers would have been great to hold my framing throughout the shot. Also when gently landing the shot at the end I did a good hover and hold on the subjects but there was a little more movement in the shot than I would have liked. So, in essence I welcome a blend of capabilities that I hope will come from this new bird. Decent 4k, auto leveling gimbal and hopefully an assisted hold in the hover. I imagine rolling through a shot like that with a level camera all they way as I bleed off speed until I land on my subject. Then a nice steady hover with some stabilization to help me hold my framing of the shot a little. I'm hoping for a little bit of the best of both worlds. I don't expect the new drone to replace my other FPV drones. They are all tools in a tool box and in risky environments for a revealing shot where I don't need to land in a hover or have large speed changes I expect that I would still use the regular FPV drones in acro mode like my HD1XR or my SkyelinerHD. If I need to operate really close to the talent I would still use the Squirt V2 because of the ducted fans etc. A larger more powerful cinewhoop is also on my list of drones I want. Something that could carry a real camera like a Canon C70 or maybe a ZCam or Red Komodo.

As a mechanical engineer, I can tell you that the main focus of the drone frame design would be drag reduction and not lift. I would guess that airfoil efficiency would provide anywhere from 7-15 percent lift if that.

I'll still be using both, this is going to have a 60 or 120 fps only for video and a smaller sensor than the Mavic, so for 24 fps video, low light and high quality photos the Mavic would be more appropriate

Mike, I got into fpv about a year ago and have flown dji since the phantom series came out. I now prefer to fly fpv and only use the my Mavic pro 2 when I have a professional shoot and need to film slow high altitude or straight down shots, or high res stills. For everything else it’s fpv. With the Mavic, I would just fly when I wanted to film something, And now I try to fly fpv daily just for fun and to hone my skills.

I have flown RC Helicopters and camera drones, but, for this venue I would prefer a more controlled first experience. I truly believe/hope this combination can get me there.

Great video. What would also be nice to know is if the TX and goggles are compatible with v1 air unit and CADDX Vista. £1,499 would be the absolute top I’d pay for the combo - £1,399 (or 49) or £1,495 including care refresh for 2 years would make more sense, otherwise it’s just too expensive. I want the controller and goggles for FPV with my own air unit/Vista system. The batteries are far too expensive when compared to FPV batteries. Also, you have no indication of when it’s coming out, so your title feels like clickbait, but otherwise a great video

I don't know what's up with my Phantom 4. It's not good enough to be flying it in a park, and ok there are large trees in between LOS, with the drone up around 120 meters in the air and only 300 meters away and it disconnecting. I'm about ready for an upgrade. Maybe this FPV. Not sure. Will see.

Haha hey RCSchim, yes email lists. They do get pricey if you use a service and you have more than X subscribers but it’s the one thing I have no matter what service decides to change the playing field I will have access to my subs via email :). @@maddmavic hi , I am a qualified radio amateur , yes it would work at short range but when you have a control frequency up in the gigahertz realm , it will be blocked very easily by solid objects if they are between the transmitter and receiver. This is why submarines use Ultra low frequencies for communication, you will also lose GPS signal if there’s a wall of rock between line of sight of the craft and the satellite Yours 2E0CJD

I'm an aerobatic FPV quad copter pilot. I wouldn't buy it. Want to start out right? Get yourself a decent transmitter to use as a game controller, and a copy of Liftoff from Steam, and practice for hundreds of hours. Spend about 2 to 3 weeks figuring out your ideal rates in the simulator once you can fly pretty good. Crash all you want, over and over, it won't cost you thousands of dollars to do so. You crash your way to being an expert pilot. After you've done about several million crashes, then decide if you want to spend thousands on actual RC and quad hardware.

The nice feature of this drone is that it appears to have three flying modes like DJI’s other products to get beginners into learning true FPV. Horizon mode will fly just like a Mavic with a one axis gimbal, manual/sport mode should have more control over pitch plus faster speeds, and finally full acro mode should take you into something closer to true freestyle FPV. I don’t think this drone is going to be marketed towards acro flyers, but more or less traditional Mavic pilots who want to capture some cooler FPV style cinematic shots with a camera that’s part of an all inclusive package. If you’ve ever seen those long range FPV drones, I think this product will definitely be able to compete! 20-30 minute flight time depending on how aggressive you fly.

There where no good drone simulators when I was learning to fly in FPV:(. Even now the sims just don’t fully capture it for me. As a start in FPV flying I would recommend one of those whoop style RTF combos. Less money than a good controller and no need for a computer. Not much spent if you don’t like it. And if you find it fun you can always upgrade once you learn to fly and still enjoy it for a long while after you learn not to crash. The simulator you can just crash endlessly so it does not teach you the reality of the walk of shame.

If DJI is smart (which I think they are) it'll be a proprietary connection that has a chip of some kind to verify certified DJI equipment as to not lose any battery sales like print cartridges, video games etc;

Nice but not my choice I have the Goggles racing edition and Mavic 2 waiting for another solution or Update cause I also have Air Units for planes. No new goggles for Mini 2 and Air 2 are the next disappointment that lead me to sell both ! I have my budget back and dji has to fight a declining market ... after all these new regulations

well, i know i crashed 2x yesterday my fpv drone in mud and it was perfect, nothing broken just little dirt, but...this dji fpv...hmmm...i dont see that way as "true" fpv drone, so probably you won't be able to crash...or i may be wrong ...

With the sensors on board it will help get people familiar with the feeling of FPV. Then once they advance I assume you can get it into an advanced mode to make it more agile. I don't see this being a hardcore FPV style quad. We will find out soon enough.

That camera will last less than 60seconds. Flying into a concrete post or tree like we do with FPV will obliterate the DJI FPV drone.

nobody is going to buy it that is a seriouse FPV pilot if you cant work on it yourself.
