I must say I work with some men who have power chairs and manual chairs. You really have to learn how to maneuver in wheelchair (be it manual or power) just getting around. Since beginning my job I have definitely improved on my parallel parking skills (this is from moving power chairs around and even maneuvering manual chairs). Also Zach I definitely think the video game thing reigns true. All my coworkers who play/played video games always picked up using the joystick 10x faster.
@mariayoung88605 жыл бұрын
I had to do it when I got my D.L. In Md., but that is not on our D.L. Test here in Fl. I would say 90% of people that fail their test in Md., is because parallel parking.

I used to sell cars for years. My family has owned a new car dealership since 1941, and these types of modified Vans are truly amazing. Many won't know this (but can usually figure it out), but these vans are not cheap to purchase, so the fact that he was gifted this to help him with his education and future is just uhhhhmazing! I remember looking for so many vans for people, and they are so difficult to find within a certain price range. Love this van! So cool!!! 💖

hi goose i need a van like this with just the lift and locks how would i get 1 im a quadripelgic with cerebral palsy
@goose75744 жыл бұрын
@@BrandonLovesJesus I would check Cars.Com and Autotrader.com to get an idea for pricing ranges. Then, check Facebook as well (usually the best deal you can get is from a private party). If/when a family member dies, who had a baby like this, people won't always know the value of it (or won't care and will want to just get rid of "the memory"). Then, are you've done that, I would call your local dealerships and tell them that you're looking for something like. Since you've sheets checked Facebook and cars/AT, you'll be ahead of them with the pricing and that "stuff" because you've already checked your "area." Also, when your search, search within 200 miles first, then... If you don't see anything, check 500. Don't just check ANY location right away. If you have any further comments, questions or concerns, let me know.

Incredible Zack! I didn't know you had the power chair because of the car. I can imagine how big of a change this must be for you. It's not just a (fancy) car, it's so much more for you because of the incredible amount of independence it gives you. I know how much that independence means. I love how they made sure that you can do it ALL by yourself, which greatly contributes to independence. I'm impressed by how smooth the control looks (gas/brake/steer). Congratulations and enjoy all the great experience and freedom that this will bring you!

Thank you! These hand controls are crazy haha. Never knew something like this existed. For me, it was between the hand controls I got or ones that I would have one hand in for gas and break and my other hand to steer the car. I liked the idea of always having one hand free so I went with the one I have now. It feels pretty natural for me but still have to get used to it.

Love your new van. Like you I am also a quadriplegic with the same driving equipment. I also got my van through Department Of Rehab of California. There’s a handful of differences in our two vehicles. You have an actual steering wheel where I have nothing and my van is a 1999 Ford Econoline E150. Other than that it’s great. You said at the beginning you had a driving instructor? His name wouldn’t be Sam would it? And where did you purchase it? I’m going to take a guess and say Driving systems Inc. out of Van Nuys! Well that’s where I got it mine. Bill and Rudy are great. 20 years and counting I still call them for help with things. Keep having that independence friend it is so awesome. Greg

Honda car with pan controls cuz of my disability bit my hand controls were different than yours cuz I got full use of my arms. In a way that I see how you operate it. But I'm familiar with it because there's a in Minneapolis, Minnesota weather that And Golden Valley in Golden Valley. There's a rehab center called Courage Center did it. Set a time teaches people how to drive cars with all kinds of controls and kill all including the way you that you drive.

Suggestions about the battery.. Is there any way you can get a push to start on the van. So you can start it, unlock, pull down ramp, and get in? I know you have the 2 switches once you are all in (ignition and start) maybe they could just do those remotely, that what I was asking. Also the can get a second battery that can go under a seat or inftont of the seat next to the ramp out of your way and have a remote on and off for it so it's not draining the battery much. Just a thought. Love the new ride can wait to hear ya say you got your license.
@zackcollie33645 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the suggestions! I will look into both of them. Those are great ideas. I like the idea of having two batteries in the car either way!
@Neonchas5 жыл бұрын
No problem. 😁 let us know if you can have it done that way. It's just you definitely don't want to be on the road broke down with a dead battery. I've been there in the middle of summer. Not fun. But it would definitely take some of the load off your battery if there was a second that mainly controlled your ramp and you can turn on and off so it can save the battery or maybe have it like a lamp powers there but until you hit the button it's not using the power. Love your videos! Also congrats on the engagement to you and Bri
