The average player could probably come up with half a dozen reasonable solutions to this problem. It really is a shame, these last 2 months have seen, in my opinion, some of the best changes to the game that have been needed for a long time. The answers are there, it's just up to the devs to decide to pull that trigger on what to do or if to do anything about the cost/reward grind.

Unfortunately not everyone has much time to spend to grind out a game, people have responsibilities and jobs. Grind must be shortened, and could be through more frequent XP boosters or just less progressive levels for weapon unlock. This game was very hard for me when I first started playing, so much chaos, underpowered weapons that led to many deaths, fog of war, and the super lengthy grind wore me out, leading to burnout in the span of a week or so. Got back to playing today, and I would say I performed better than ever thanks to lower level opponents in my skill level and many of your helpful videos. Despite all this, I still got really fatigued. Twitch drops motivated me to play the game, but however the vehicles I unlocked were only useable in late level squads, so I was back to zero. I was pretty sure I got many gold orders from twitch drops, but they weren’t transferred to my account. Edit: Hell, I’d rather work my ass off and be a content creator just to get some of the benefits in order to play a damn game. I won’t grind effectively without some help. Really hope thy change the grind length.

Totally agree. So much more could be done with battlepass and weekly tasks. So much more could be made of the rankings too - if they were more skill based than just time spent. Also think everything should be aligned with Pacific xp rates - high end is still a little slow but it's quick to get to an established level. But throw in more boosters for battle pass/tasks/challenges. I like the idea of cosmetics, decals, even name decorators/pictures etc. I'm never going to spend gold on them, but would be cool to be able to earn them - just to break up the grind like you say and make things a bit more varied.

One of the biggest problems with the grind is how _exponential_ the exp curve is. Level 1-3 go by in a single game, while levels 20+ take nearly half a dozen games (without boosters) and level 30+ is just ridiculously slow. So what should be done, apart from severely cutting down the total exp of each Campaign (I'd guess cut it _at least_ by 50%, at best by 75%), is to make the exp *curve* into a *"slightly curved line"* of sorts. Make players have time to digest and use the earlier levels, make the mid and late Campaign significantly shorter.

I agree to an extent. I feel that “spading” squads gives no benefit. I have every squad until level 14 for the Japanese “spaded” and I get no bonus for grinding. I believe that something to make it better would definitely be like checkpoints halfway between each campaign level or something.

My only issue is the separate campaign level for both factions in the campaigns. And players are noticeably leaving the Japanese for the allies. Nearly every game I played last night the allies had at least 5 marshals to the Japanese lower ranks. We lost approximately 8 of 10 games. I never thought it was that bad playing normandy axis. Even when it first started I had no problem scoring in the top 5 with the starting.

Feed the donkey a Carrot for doing their job. Hit the donkey with the stick for not doing their job. The stick has nothing to do with length of the task, its just a threatening weapon. Maybe you Might be getting it mixed up with "dangling a carrot" which is just focusedon the reward and doesnt mention sticks. Yes the grind is big. It's +-380 levels in the 6 Champaign. The game it's not perfect. But the big problem it's between the monitor and the chair. The big problem it's that 80/90% of the players can't do more that 1000/2000 BASE XP. Because most of them don't know to do xp. Just put 1 eng in all squads, build ralys, pres M and use the mini map, don't be all the game in a tank or plane, don't snipe all the game, help the team, learn wow to play, and you wil see that you will get more base XP per game. Just stop play like zoo apes and the game will reward you with more BASE XP

I think where the grind really gets bad is when they lock iconic pieces of equipment like Thompson's and M2 flamethrowers behind days worth of play on one campaign, and why doesn't the progress from the American Pacific transfer to the American North African squads or western front America? On top of that it takes so long to get cosmetic tickets to buy new uniforms so it just makes the game almost unappealing because you know you'll never get shit.

Ok, hear me out: instead of changing enlisted's grind as a whole, what if there were more ways to get XP? Maybe you could complete challenges similar to those of the Battle Pass for a proportionate amount of XP for the faction you completed the challenge in. I think that (if implemented properly) could solve a number of issues... - The grind, giving more ways to earn XP instead of just the battles - The repetativeness, giving you another reason to do cool challenges like "Kill 5 different enemies with 1 grenade" or "Kill 3 enemies with a shovel" (maybe not those ones exactly, but you get the point) I don't think this can solve all the problems but I think it can definately help

so basically dont play the game cuz its unfun to grind and levels are unrewarding and everything not being properly balanced? got it

I feel like this argument is kind of short sighted to begin with. The game is literally free. Go play ANY free game and tell me there is no "grind". The game doesn't have any issues for somthing you did not pay a red cent for. I personally feel like enlisted was a stepping stone for the devs to create their next big game and that it was more of a test to see how infantry combat would feel in thier previous title war thunder....which is ALSO an enormous grind if you make it be. Did any body ever consider that maybe it's not the game that is a grind but your need to have the top tier content that the game has to offer. I remember a time long ago before the internet where when you were not invested enough you didn't beat a video game and that was okay. Is it "necessity" to have that gear or is it "luxury" I think is the real argument.

...no lol. Theres many F2P games without a grind. Valorant and CSGO both jump to mind immediately. and Enlisted isn't a stepping stone for a different game, they literally made a different game (Cuisine Royale) to test the mechanics for Enlisted. And this isnt some new age internet thing. Reward loops arent new, they existed long before the Internet in Mario, Tetris, and Galaga.

@@HeyQuadro firstly counter strike wasn't a free to play to begin with also valorant you grind for operators.....so I don't see your point there. You can go ahead and list off a bunch of games with "reward loops" because that wasn't even what I was referring to at all... those exist everywhere in life. A "carrot on a stick" however is a completely different concept in where somone has power over how much "carrot" you get and has no reflection on how "good" you may be at getting the carrot. Take your edgy teenage crap somewhere else. I bet you played Mario, Galaga and tetris on emulator SON.

@@joshuafrederiksen Carrot on a stick is metaphor for incentivizing behavior, which is exactly what this video is about. Games Incentivize players to grind/play the game by offering them rewards. The rewards of Enlisted arent good enough, and therefor players arent incentivized enough to continue playing. It's not "edgy teenage crap", its basic game design. And no, I played all of those games on their original cabinets or systems while I studied to get my degree in game design. I also learned what an ad hominem fallacy is, you should look that one up, "son".

You mean back in the good ole days where a single 8 hour sesh could clear a game. Here in Enlisted thats enough to clear a single level. Versus all. Yet here I am half way thru Nap campaign with almost 100 matches
