I have followed this guy for a good bit, ever since I was living outside Atlanta and read about him in a hunting rag. This guy is the real deal and is keeping traditions alive. A true southern gentleman and an ever passionate sportsman!

I always have to watch your films twice. The reason being I am moved to tears every time because of the people. And the way they find passion and happiness in this sport and art in dogs and the beauty of your cinematography.

Mr. smith, you’ve already made it to the “winners circle”. Truly inspiring words at the end of this video. I’ve been chasing grouse with my GSP’s in the Catskills for 3 seasons and have bagged 2 birds. The love of the chase and watching the dogs keeps us going!! God Bless.

After a VERY long time away from the bird dog world, I now have a 6 month old English Setter. He has the bloodlines, the nose, and the spirit and this video has inspired me to see if I still have enough in the tank for one more hunting partner. Vermont may be a long way from Georgia but the common love of dogs and hunting connect us. Thanks, Durrell!

Shot clays for the first time last week and have become engulfed in the culture. Bought me a new shotgun, and lookin in to a bird dog. Don’t even know where to start on how to train em, but excited as hell! Great vid!

Some of my fondest hunting memories are of my pointers working coveys and singles in central Illinois with a fellow dog man and bird hunter. Farming practices changed, friends and acquiaintences moved on, and age changed priorities. I wouldn't know where to go to find birds anymore. I hunt pheasants in Kansas every year, but that's all I can manage now. I often think about starting another dog, but It just wouldn't be fair to a good dog. I loved this video, and I agree with every word Durrell said.

I live in Scotland and would like to come to the US to explore this type of hunting. I will do some online research but would like to seek advice. I have relatives in South Carolina. Quail, Grouse, Woodcock are where my interest lies. Any advice gratefully received.

That may be the best video I have ever seen on KZbin. I have a place in North Florida about an hour and a half away from the first sign in Georgia advertising quail hunting. My neighbor hood is literally named “Quail Hollow “ but we have very few left. I am told it’s due to fire ants. Any validity to that?

OMG...seeing this video brought back SO MANY MEMORIES of quail hunting in southwest Georgia. My dad, brothers and I would walk miles of country farmland with two hunting dogs hunting quail on the hedgerows. Just being out in the country...listening to nature...the excitement of the dogs pointing the bird...the smell of gun powder after the shot...the satisfaction of retrieving the bird...the cleaning and freezing of the bird for Thanksgiving dinner...THOSE WERE THE GOOD OLE DAYS!!! Also, I want to make this statement: BLACK PEOPLE HUNT WILD GAME. How do you think we survived all these centuries...eating McDonalds? Big game...small game...it doesn't matter. Personally, I don't care what color you are. Just don't drink before we hunt, and HAVE CONSTANT MUZZLE AWARENESS (WATCH YOUR LINE OF FIRE). It's good to be on the hunt...but ALWAYS be thinking safety, safety, SAFETY. A gun is NOT A TOY. It is an AWESOME RESPONSIBILITY to own and use properly.

Now this is real quial hunting like I used to enjoy as a lad. The "preserves" kill tamed birds. I live beside Dubois Plantation, and all the birds that get away are just coyote-bobcat-opposum-& me, lol. I could get around good on my quad hunting with yaw down yonder?
