Lets discuss what the behavioural and personality differences are between these two beautiful species. Going through the pro's and con's using my personal experience and examples.
You may have a different experience but in general these are the very similar and common personality traits and behaviours they share.
At the end of the day your bird will still be unique! Think of it like a cultural similarity between species ☺️

I have a blue Quaker his name is grapes. He is extremely well behaved has never bitten me hard. He his extremely gentle. Learnt to talk early at 4 months he learnt to say hi, how are you, hello grapes, I was shocked he learnt this so quickly. I got him at 14 weeks of age but within 2 weeks he learnt to talk. And he spoke so clearly. He is very smart for his age. He now 6 months old and learning more words. He is a social butterfly. Just loves people. He isn’t just attached to the one person which is good. He loves his baths. 😂 such a goofball. My favourite type of bird. He even loves watching your videos and chirps to it.😂

I regards to seeds there's a good rule of thumb: if the seed is used to make oil (sunflower, soybean, peanut, etc) you should probably avoid it and only use it as treats.

As someone who is babysat quaker I have one thing to say. They are quite the quirky bird. Their noise can be annoying, but as she even stated, it’s not as loud as some other birds. Also, once you hear the sound of quaker getting annoyed about something, you will never forget it. There are feral colonies in various places in the world Spain.

Ver informative video thank you! There is a bird boarding facility near me, and I used to do bird rescue man many years ago, I am used to fostering greys and cockatoos. Anyhow I went into this boarding place and they take in surrenders and rehome them. They received a blue quaker this past Thursday, and he is 6yrs. His owners are elderly and devopled breathing issues, it doesn't seem like they spent much teaching time but he was allowed to fly daily, I have been visiting hims since Friday when he first brought out to acclimate with the rest of the birds, how, I learned quickly how they are cage aggressthey have about 50 different types of parrots boarding at the moment. Any way, I learned very quickly how cage aggressive they are and he is more so because he is still confused.I also learned that if they are higher than you they think they are boss lol. Today was my 4th day there, and after they clipped his wings I spent 1 on 1 time with him. I was using a perch to teach him step up, which he may already know, but was refusing to do it.Finally, I rubbed the perch on the back of his neck and he loved it, after about an hr of doing that off and on he finally got on the perch but got off just as fast, I praised him and gave him a grape so hopefully this is a step in the right direction. he reminds me of a toddler, they are so conpairable lol. I am disabled now so I am home all the time.Been watching and reading about them and all the cons are pretty much on point as you have pointed out.Thank you so much for the info, it's helping me decide whether or not to adopt him... well I should say him adopting me. Thanks again! Sorry this was so long. Didn't mean to bore you lol.😍🥰

Im glad this helped you decide. They are definitely rewarding birds for sure, continue to be patient with them and please consider allowing their wings to grow back for full flight as there are many health risks with clipping wings. I miss my Quaker Parrot Nikki who passed away at 19 years old last May. Now it’s just Sunny and me. She will be 20 years old next month. We are much closer now. Nikki was my first bird and Sunny’s bestie. I had Nikki since she was 11 weeks old. I had Sunny since she was 13 months old. Nikki had a big personality and could speak well. We were super close. I was definitely her favorite human. Sunny is more cuddly, sweet and a big eater. She can say hello but it’s not clear. She makes kiss sounds all the time. I am fortunate because she does chirp a lot, which she probably picked up from Nikki. She also is not loud unless the environment gets very loud or she sees you vacuuming. She likes everyone, but you are right about when a Sun Conure bite. Those beaks pack a big punch.

I've got a sun conure, but he has never, and I mean NEVER, done of the 120db screeches when he's with me. He only does them when im out of sight. Could be that I just got lucky, but one thing I did do is, whenever I had him with me and he made loud noises, I'd make an abbrasive "CHHHHHHHH" sound with my mouth and leave him back on his cage.

My Quaker parrot is about 7 months old . I have been trying to introduce her to toys but she’s so afraid of things. Even when I slowly introduce her . She doesn’t even play with anything I her cage. Is there a certain age that they become interested? She is very good with my husband and me. She just started flying off her cage and coming to us which before we had a hard time getting her off the cage. We really aren’t sure if she is a female or a male. We love watching your videos and thank you for all the information that you have given us.

I don't know why but i love when birds yawn and sit with one leg 🥹 mango was looking so cute ❤ I can say most of things about sun conure can be apply to green cheeks too 😅 cuz at least mine does the same, they like warmth from me, they cuddly, they play arm wrestling, they bite hard. And they get lonely too, i had a paper yesterday so i leave them in my mom's care and my mom sit in their room entire time but still they didn't eat much until i came 🥺 i don't go outside and stay with them all time so whenever i have to go they get lonely. But you know what's the best part they recognize me in video call and start chirping and when i came home they fly to me chirping and screaming like they are telling me where did you go why did you take so much time😅 i have 3 more papers 🥲

Personally I would say a 7y old and a bird can be tricky. They are extremely tough pets who require hours and hours of your day. They will bite and scream and make such a mess. The reality is it will probably fall on you to clean up everything. On top of that the costs and vet bills youd have to be prepared for. That being said some sweeter birds id recommend are green cheek conures, cockatiels and budgies. All friendly, gentle and sweet. Not that they wont be moody and bite but in my opinion more manageable than a quaker parrot or sun conure

I think thats an individual choice ☺️ for me its worth it, i love my birds they are amazing company and therapy to me and fit my lifestyle. There are A LOT of sacrifices that have to be made though. Daily cleaning, no aerosols like perfumes/candles/chemical cleaners, no teflon pans. Might be holes in your shirt, cant travel much, gotta spend hours a day with them. At the beginnig u really gotta spend time to bond, gain their trust and be patient as it takes time. Make changes to the house to keep dangerous items away, etc etc etc 😅
