Fun thing about this. You learn how much typical anime production costs (min $200,000 per episode on average), and you remember Epithet Erased. $270,000 for all 7 episodes, and voice acting, and other in show stuff. And you realize that this could have absolutely been easily continued, but the company didn't to save a few bucks (to them, not to normal people). And then you get sad.

10:25 I checked it out, and apparently, the author hints more towards Tanabe and Misuzu maybe being a "thing" later on. It's apparently more Misuzu being paranoid about Jun taking her only friend away because Tomo is her ONLY friend before Carol rolls up. 12:33 Yeah, I was confused there too, bro. OK, so apparently Misaki and Carol are Cousins in the "Royal" sense instead of the traditional sense. Less like her dad is his mother's brother or some shit, and more like they became related through two family members marrying each other; most likely their own actual cousins if I'm guessing correctly.

Tanabe was a waste of space instead of a competent character to pair up with misuzu they used that simp with personality of washboard as a character.

There nothing wrong with Carol and Misaki, they are only distant cousins, so I am assuming more third cousins. What is disturbing, is that Carol is 15, her father is 32 and her mother is… ah yes, 28!

And from what I heard, Carol’s mom met her husband while she was working as a waitress. Since she looked pretty mature for her age, her father who was 15 at the time asked her out, thinking she was older than him.
