My Mangaka LIFE have you tried borden and riley brand. I used to love using this paper www.bordenandriley.com/View/32-Hammermill-®-Ledger-Cloth-Bound-Pads It was awesome for marker. It didn't bleed. Idk how the quality has changed since I've last used it but this was my go to marker paper. Also it worked wonderful with colored pencil. They do have other papers that work with different mediums.

I have that SAME paper too! And i knew something was not right! I have been using that paper for two years and the last one i bought i knew something was not right. Yeah I switched to Strathmore last month cause even Canson's sketchbook paper has gone down in quality as well. The Bristol board is really Silky to the touch on the one side. I honestly want to try out some other brands so I might go down to the craft store tomorrow and take a look. I just hate when they leave the plastic wrap on the papers. I want to touch them!! lol

You may have to switch to Strathmore for really smooth Bristol. Check out Strathmore 300 Series Sequential Art Bristol Paper. It's really smooth board. It comes in pads.

It's so crazy because I LEFT Strathmore because their Bristol was almost beige in color (Canson had Bristol that was pure white). But nowadays I've had to switch back to Strathmore! My favorite paper to use is Hammermill Color Copy Digital, 100lb. It works pretty well with the Copics I have, and while I doubt smooth paper should be used for pencils, it even made my cheap dollar store colored pencils look vibrant and smooth. Of course though, I don't exactly have the budget yet to compare it to anything else, but I'm quite happy with it regardless.

OMG yes I have!!♡♡♡ I've been wanting to create an update on this video but I kept on trying new paper AND Canson kept keeping me updated on their "investigation" regarding the defective paper, so... here we are years later LOL in the end, Strathmore smooth Bristol is the freaking BEST paper on the market in my opinion!♡♡♡ super smooth, super thick, super affordable! It's also really bright white and can be used with pencil, ink, marker, and even paint and watercolor!! It's perfect to me!

I'll be saying this in my update on the Canon paper but I'll tell you a little here: the "good", super smooth paper I loved was produced in America. When that factory closed, a factory in France began to produce what Canon told me was their "France's interpretation" of the double-sided XL recycled paper...which did NOT have a smooth side and felt coarse :/ Canon imports all of its paper all over the world so what you have access to I do as well :) +Thomas S.

Recently I purchased this same paper in store, and I did immediately notice it was not very smooth. I had just figured that was the case with the brand, because Ive only ever used Strathmore. So far, no it hasn't :( Canon got back to me saying that the paper quality dropped because the paper mill in the USA closed and a new one was opened in France. They told me that the defected paper was the new paper mill's "interpretation of double sided paper"...so I just moved on to a different paper brand that actually offers double sided paper with an authentically smooth feel. +ared18t

You could try Canson's mix media; used for acrylic, water color, and also pen or pencil. It comes with 60 sheets that are 9 in. x 12 in., or 22,9 cm x 30,5 cm. The texture is smooth and a little rough, but when I feel the back side it feels smoother.

I can only go by what you're telling me, and the only reason I can think of to make you feel "claustrophobic" while drawing in panels is if they're too small to comfortably house your characters. Try open panels, wider panels, and more adventurous page layouts ♡

If you're submitting your work to a publisher, and editor and staff will be formatting your work. So not to worry. Also, Amazon sells books written in Israeli, Chinese, Japanese etc. (which are all read from right to left), and also sell English language(translated) Manga which read in the Japanese Manga format.

+RaelDanger I have to create a video update but haven't because they're still sending me new samples of their newer paperand I am still testing them. After receiving my samples of the XL Recycled Double-sided Bristol, the company apologized and acknowledged that the paper's packaging was misleading as the paper was no longer doible-sided. They have informed me that the paper I once loved will not go back to how it used to be because the factory that once manufactured it (in America) is no longer being used. Manufacturing of the paper I loved has been moved to France...and their, quote, "interpretation of double-sided paper" is nothing like America's "interpretation" :( It's really disappointing...but I am trying other brands whose quality has proved to be superior...I will certainly be sharing my findings VERY soon ♡

That's cool they send you so much free paper but sucks they took away your fav paper :( You could try, strathmore Bristol smooth, or hammermil 100lb paper they all work great with copics. Some also like render paper or express it blending card. I prefer hammermil or strathmore

from what I understand about papers / fabrics/ pigment, it seems that I changes quality every season. With more artists going digital and less people use these materials, its harder for companies to keep up. I've known many artists who bulk buy paint, brushes and paper once they find one they like. maybe in a year the quality will go up, but I suggest once you find what you like, buy a bunch of them.

Never heard of that in my LIFE XD I've used this paper for so many years (as well as other paper brands) and I've never experienced a change like this 0__0;; But every brand of supplies I use (including other paper brands and screen tone as well) release new items every year! Their quality improves over time; CANSON is just a lazy rebel XD LOL Messing up and not caring. They've been around for hundreds of years and are a French brand...never experienced this kind of quality drop EVER! And all artists stock up on their supplies LOL Who wants to be in the middle if a painting thinking "damn. Out of paint...Should of sprung for a second tube". I haven't bought Copic markers since 2010!! THAT should tell you how many I purchased XD But, we eventually run out, and when that happened with my paper...I realized that my paper had changed for the worst :(

I've had heard from others and experience when things are in limited quality because raw materials are not easy to come by all of a sudden. Many companies change formulas too and that can get really annoying. I have a question I am a young artist and every time I draw it looks good on the front but mirrored it does not look good don't understand if you know what I'm talking about but please reply I need help ,if I turn the paper over and shine it in the light the eyes are not placed correctly so are the nose and the mouth of the character especially when I draw a body the the proportions are off do l need to start using a ruler again or something l used to use one but I started drawing free handed,please help thank you.😊

LOL that whole "warping when you look at your drawings backwards" problem goes away with age and practice :) You don't need to start to using a ruler again, but rather, you need to train your eyes to become your ruler ♡ If you watch my "how to draw" videos, you'll see I have a checklist of proportions and guidelines I obey while I draw. By having these guidelines to follow, I can go down the character's body bit by bit, seeing if they follow the rules, and I can easily find the mistakes that way. But if things still look weird, turn it backwards to find the mistake ♡ Use the "backwards (mirror) technique" to help you identify problems while you draw. But don't be obsessed with it though! GOOD LUCK! :D ♡

My goodness, I'm sorry you're experiencing the same crappy quality as I am :( I've used a couple of different types, but I left them all for Canson... ((sigh)) Strathmore is a good brand that's super smooth, but it's not bleach white like Canson. I'll be trying out some new brands and I'll be sure to report back with my results in an upcoming video ♡ I hope you'll look out for that! :D

I'm new to your channel. I personally like canson fanboy illustration boards. They come in 25 sheet pack. They also have Manga size, but I haven't tried those yet. I did an acrylic painting on them to test it out, and I thought they held up well with a little taping down.

+aisyah chi ((sigh)) It was...so frustrating...I could get the same look on the paper, but OMG first that's false advertising, and second, I hate the feeling of coloring and drawing on coarse paper!! DX It just feels awful! Ruins the creative experience! It's as frustrating as inking with with a pen that's low in ink and it's beginning to show in the line quality! :(

I don't really use bristol. I use the UCreate sketch books. I have so many of them. I can usually get them for around $2 at Dollar General. And then I use just printer paper A LOT. I can also get that from the same place for around $1.85.

I only use archive safe and acid free paper because thibgs like Co outer paper may turn yellow after a few decades (I drew on it a lot when I was younger and it's I use or for sketching ♡) But when I color or use paint, I always use archival acid free Bristol ♡ +Sketch

Have you ever thought of creating a video that shows people how to create characters? I have so many ideas for characters but they never seem like full ones so I always end up scrapping them ;-; It gets in the way of creating my manga story itself.

i know wright . lots of company's change there products and i get mad because they just change it into something worse i have experienced something like this before. i can definitely feel what your going through trying to look for something new it is a bit hard to find the wright paper to use and the could kind that you can afford.and like.

YES I DO USE THAT CANSON XL DUEL WUT EVER PAPER MYSELF AS MY FIRST PURCHASE OF THAT KIND I BOUGHT 14X17 CUZ OF GOOD LOW PRICE MINE HAS GREEN COLOR ON THE COVER NOT LIKE URS WHICH SEEMS LIKE DIRTY GREEN . Just two days ago, I bought the Winsor and Newton pigment marker pad and it is absolutely a mess. I can’t layer, the markers smear everywhere, and I can’t get vibrant skin tones when I am using the most vibrant ones! I’m really pissed because I bought it on my trip to Montreal and this was supposed to be something I would enjoy, but it was a waste of $12.

That's fine, dear. But as stated in this video, the paper is no longer true to its packaging and is false advertising. The company acknowledged the drop on quality and send me pounds of free paper :(

Daler-Rowney paper is by far the best paper for pastels, prismacolours, COPICS, PROMARKERS, and anything. It's pretty cheap and great quality. I would highly recommend it.

I like (sometimes love) using Mix Media,and I don't care of the company that I'm buying,something I like to try new ones.(sometimes getting canson only)I like to use copic and a bit of watercolor.It's good for using a lot of unicorns barf with glitter. (BTW I LOVEEEE your videos they make me laugh,oh also ur art)

No problem! ♡ I recommend you go to an art store and touch the paper yourself so you can choose a paper you'd be happy to use :3 I'm actually using Strathmore now (yet AGAIN LOL) but I want to make an update video now so I can tell you guys WHY the Canon paper is defective (according to what Canson told me) and why I chose to go back to Strathmore :D +harshita shanker
