Podcast is Called : ASN Humans Are Space Orcs , HFY and other stories
--------------
This Story is Classified as HFY or Humanity Feck, Yea , but what does the Mean?
-------------
HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.
-------------
Taken from the FAQ of the r/HFY subreddit.
Humans Are Space Orcs (HASO) or Humans Are (Fantasy Race) Are used as a guide when writing.
In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don't always put a positive spin on humans\humanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

Lol we are so linked with the planet every thing we made use to be apart of a rock or made mimicking it's structure so computers more so the conductive parts use to be rock so "we tricked rocks to think" is not wrong just over simplified.

I once had a situation where our safety guy wanted me to explain how I took my truck (semi), which was loaded at the time (about 70K lbs), from 60 mph to 0 in about 3 seconds, then back up to 60+ in just a few seconds, and repeat that 4 times in less than a minute. I explained the speed sensor on the truck was broken and dangling over the driveshaft, so it won't read right. He kept insisting that "the computer shows the hard stops". So, I asked him to explain how our trucks could do that kind of acceleration when full. He just kept repeating "But, the computer...". I asked him if the box of rocks was doing all the thinking for him. Finally, he told me that he would check with the manufacturer's rep and see what he said. Never heard back on that. P.S. the safety guy had never driven a big rig before, but he had a degree.

as a human, I can fully attest that rocks are, in fact, amazing and I take great pains to incorporate them into every part of my life as I could not bear to live without them. especially the tasty rocks that we humans know as 'salt'. one of the best rocks of all, that one.

Rock salt, Rock n roll... I remember a story from many years ago, might have been some sci-fi like Heinlein's Castor and Pollux, might have been from something far older like Sir Arthor Conan Doyle or Jules Verne with his 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, I may not be able to recall the specifics, but I do remember a story in which an older family member wows youngsters, telling them of an extravagant society based on rocks. Rocks (silica) for glass windows, rocks (coal) for heating, rocks (meteorites) for extravagant metals, rocks for this, rocks for that. I don't remember every example, but I do remember the child or children finally catching on and being minorly annoyed; "Oh, you're just describing modern society in a tricksy way". As I think about it, could have even been a story bit within "The Swiss Family Robinson", though I no longer can be sure. Getting old plays hell with one's memories.

In Greek it's called Gaia that translates to "land" or "earth", I suspect this "dirt" trend is true for most languages. The same thing goes for our Moon in all the different languages I was able to quickly find, except for the Greeks who were the exception and gave it the name of their godess Selene.

It's basically an inherited quirk from the times we divided reality into The Heaven, The Underworld, and The Earth, with the Earth not representing the physical planet of dirt and rocks, but The Mortal World. This started pretty early in the diaspora from Africa. So we're not calling the planet Dirt, we're essentially just calling it [The World We Live in] but most people have forgotten that.
