Installing an Ameristar Heat Pump Package Unit | ONE MAN OPERATION!

In this video I'll be showing how I replaced an old HVAC Heil heat pump with a new 14 SEER Ameristar heat pump package unit. I reused the existing concrete pad. I decided to replace the existing high voltage flexible sealtite with new EMT conduit (I think it turned out great!). Utilizing the three wheel dolly allows for easy transportation of equipment, making it possible for one person to complete the change out. Hope you enjoy the video!

He didn't show the part where his cell phone is ringing off the hook all day long while he's trying to hurry up and finish the install and get to the next 6 calls that have been waiting all day. Don't try this in south Florida. Haha..... (Very nice install though)👍

Beautiful job as always Zach. I would stay away from Ameristar. Your gonna have a hard time finding parts. Hey man I know it’s a package unit but still put you a SS1 float switch in the drain line. That’s the bad thing about package units if that drain stops up no one will ever know and it will soak the inside of that unit for god knows how long.

Man that was a quality install. Duct cover looked great and I really like the metal conduit on the electrical. Honestly, I would have probably ran liquid-tight the whole way from the panel and strapped it to the wall but it looks so much better with that metal conduit. The attention to detail on your jobs is impressive and moving around heavy package units by yourself is also impressive. Keep up the good work. You earned a subscriber for sure.

This install made me realize that there's definitely more to HVACR than there is to Electrical. (Which is obvious but seeing it all put together helps out so much!). I'm transitioning from the Electrical field to HVACR, and I can't wait!! This looks like more of a similarity to installing computers and stuff vs just running wires and making splices. Can't wait to learn it all!!!

A professional makes something that can be difficult so easy.Like watching a touch down pass thrown and saying I could easily do that, except they're doing it in a Super Bowl . I have a question. I just had an all metal shop built and I will just be heating the big space (shop area) with a hanging heater, but there is a smaller space that I want to heat and cool. It is only 350 square feet with 9 foot ceiling and is 4 rooms in total, 2 office spaces and 2 bathrooms. I was told by my local HVAC guy that going with a 2 ton package unit and building the ductwork on the outside wall across the 4 rooms is my best option. Do you agree? If not what would you suggest? Obviously a 2 ton unit has to be way to0 big for that small of a space, but apparently that is the smallest they make those units. Would the fact that unit is so big for such a small space cause an issue by itself? TIA

Nice clean install. However, in the long run the flushing above the ducts against the cement wall will fail. The proper way to do the flushing there is to bend the galvanized sheet 90 degrees, cut the mortar between the cement blocks and insert the metal flushing in there. Then you can use silicone or run a mortar bead. I know I am asking a lot of an A/c installer but this is the proper way of doing flushing.

My duct work came unattached from the unit. It sets on concrete. With about 8 inches hole on each side. So I can see where the cats have been jumping down on top of the duct. Is it easier to pull the unit out or crawl under the trailor. Note , there are low beams in front of the unit and the space becomes very difficult to move around if I go under. Nice work man!
