What a dissapointing career, 1st overall, gets replaced twice after being pretty successful. But it had to be done. In 2017 Mahomes got drafted and Alex Smith FINALLY started pushing it downfield, his best season. Remember he blew out the 2017 Patriots opening night in Foxboro their trophy night?

The 2012 49ers are one of the best teams of the century up front. The OL and the D front 7. The 2012 Saints were rebuilding, after a great run 2008-2011 ; so they deserve credit for hanging in to the 4th quarter.

1984, 1989 and 1994 Niner teams were the best followed by this team. Those 3 teams DOMINATED the league and superbowls. The 1984 team was 15-1 and the 1989 was 14-2 while the 1994 was 13-3

Thanks for posting this! The last great 49er team. In his career, Kaepernick has an impressive 64.9 Total QBR. Last season, that number would have ranked fifth in the league. Kaepernick has experience: He has made 58 career starts, including six in the postseason (his playoff record is 4-2). Kaepernick has the fifth-best touchdowns-to-interceptions ratio of all time. In fact, in that statistic, Kaepernick is better than Steve Young, Peyton Manning and Tony Romo, to name just a few other quarterbacks. Kaepernick has rushed for 2,300 yards (he has a 6.1-yard average) and 13 touchdowns. He was, in his last season with the 49ers, voted the Len Eshmont award winner, which goes to the player “best exemplifies the inspirational and courageous play of Len Eshmont, an original member of the 1946 49ers team." The award is the team’s most prestigious voted on by players, and Kaepernick received it in 2016, when he began kneeling in protest in racial inequality and police brutality.

Winning the Len Eshmont award, voted by his teammates the year he started taking a knee in respectful protest - disproves the narrative that his protests were disruptive to his team, that it created unease in the locker room, that it split the team - all false. And that false narrative was often the given reason/excuse why teams wouldn't pick him up. Foolish decision by the NFL to shun him. He was one of the most dynamic, always potential big play quarterbacks in my lifetime. That rocket arm and his uncatchable giraffe-like running made him always fun to watch. You never knew when a big play would break out.
