Hi Kelsey, thank you for this video! I have a question about the unit of analysis: I am evaluating app websites (searching through the whole content in the website) to analyze common services they offer based on pre-determined categories and codes. Is my unit of analysis the website itself? Or would it be a phase/sentence? What if there were more than one code that a specific website service belongs to? For example, one variable or category I would code for might be "suggested exercise" and then there are different codes for yoga, weight-lifting, running, swimming, but the website suggests 2 types. how would I code this? does that mean the coding scheme isn't mutually exclusive? I am also wondering if you have more videos or resources on how a filled out coding schedule looks like and then is entered into SPSS. I'm just a bit confused as to how the filled out coding data for each completed analysed website would look like. Thank you for your help!

The answer to your question depends on the purpose of your study and your research questions. You could have the unit of analysis be the website page or a phrase/sentence you are searching for on the websites. If the website offers two types of exercise, you code both of those choices. For that question, it might be select all of the exercises listed on the website rather than a mutually exclusive answer choice. Why do you think the response must be mutually exclusive?
