@@stanlibuda5786 Many of my videos have German subtitles available. If you would like to help me add German subtitles to a video that does not already have them, please send me an email. My email address is available in the "about" tab on my KZbin home page (if you view it on a PC, not a phone). I will email you the subtitle file in English (which includes the timings). You will then be able to edit the file to replace the English with the translation, and then email the file back to me, and I will then upload the translation to my channel. Thanks.

@@EugeneKhutoryansky Thank you for the offer. But there is no need for German subtitles. There are enough German channels here on KZbin that explain quantum mechanics. In particular, the double-slit experiment (in German: Doppelspaltexperiment). Even if these are not as beautifully visual as you have shown them.

@@frankschneider6156 Yeah, sure, but to calculate you need to have the theory and to advance and create new theory and design new experiments you need to interpret. Or do you think Einstein came up with relativity by just shutting up and calculating with Newtons equations?

My understanding of Prof John Cramer's Transactional Interpretation is that it does follow the maths which may explain why, after 50yrs, it is claimed no experimental set up has yet contradicted its qualitative explanation. Is that worth having rather than being told to 'shut up'?

@@frankschneider6156 You need to know what things like energy, momentum, position, etc. are before you can measure them and you need a testable framework before you can make predictions about what those quantities will be. Theory precedes experiment and it's often in the interpretation of phenomena that some of Nature's greatest mysteries are hidden.

@@EugeneKhutoryansky I just stumbled upon your vegan ethics page also, it is great. I haven't eaten meat since I was 5 years old, but I have always wondered why some people have an intrinsic sense of equality for sentient life while others seem to not have this trait. For some it is a product of upbringing, but for others including myself, it seems I was born with it as my household ate meat. Any thoughts?
@EugeneKhutoryansky
@EugeneKhutoryansky 3 жыл бұрын
Most people who are presently vegan, including me, grew up in households were everyone else ate meat. So, this is not because of upbringing, but rather in spite of it. People are able to reason logically for themselves, regardless of what type of family they are born into.

J C, the American Dietetic Association states: "Well-planned vegan and other types of vegetarian diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including during pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence. Vegetarians have been reported to have lower body mass indices than nonvegetarians, as well as lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease; vegetarians also show lower blood cholesterol levels; lower blood pressure; and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer."

I used some of these videos in the last few years to teach my middle school students characteristics of electromagnetic fields, current flow, current/voltage and a few others. Now that I'm retired, I 'll miss searching for and finding such amazing resources. Most of these vids are (should be) award-winning quality. My sincere thanks to the folks who produce them for sharing them so freely, it made teaching much more fun for both myself and my kids, and really helped them to visualize some hitherto abstract concepts and principles. I can only bemoan the unbelievably miserly attitude of KZbin, which now will not allow downloading even for educational purposes. They GET the vids for free, and yet won't share them anymore, even though the authors/creators did.

Thanks for the compliment about my videos and I am glad that you and your students found them helpful. One of the reasons KZbin does not allow downloading videos is because both KZbin and the video owner make money from the KZbin advertisements, and if the video is downloaded, this is lost revenue. However, teachers can always show my videos to the students in their classrooms by playing them directly from my KZbin channel. And they can also send the link to their students, so that the students can also watch the videos on my KZbin channel from home. Thanks.

That was wonderful! Clear, unbiased overview with just enough information about the quite different approaches. I feel that even people without much background but with inherent fascination and curiosity could understand the ideas and maybe felt inspired to learn more. It's easy to overload the audience with advanced math or concepts hard to grasp without studying - or even worse, to produce content without any scientific foundation that just spreads more misinformation and feeds false beliefs; especially common when the topic is quantum physics. I like that you even touched upon the "soul theory" and respectfully hinted at all the complications such interpretation introduces.

In order for that to work, you need to make a number of additional assumptions, which takes away from the main draws of your theory 😝

When I watched the Delayed Choice Quantum Eraser video, my first thought was on the possibility of there being a "retarded" and "advanced" wave function, much like in the Wheeler-Feynman Absorber theory as you have something very similar with the "retarded" and "advanced" fields that are time-reversal symmetric and the net field is the average of the two which respects causality. I should have known someone else already thought of it. Gonna have to look into the Transactional interpretation more.

I have read that. Recommended! There is also Max Jammer's The Philosophy of Quantum Mechanics: The Interpretations of Quantum Mechanics in Historical Perspective. A nice read, but the author limits it to a basic single-particle or maybe sometimes two particle, non-relativistic, non quantum field theory, level of quantum theory. Still, great food for thought.

This is awesome! I was hoping that there was something like the transactional interpretation, but I've never heard about it before! Thanks to your videos I can now research further into this topic and may find an interpretation that appeals and makes sense to me! Testability is also a very important aspect of it! Thanks for your awesome videos! They really made a difference in my life, that's for sure 👍!

If you know some Bayesian statistics, it won't seem handwavy to you at all In fact, I'd argue that for non-frequentists (which is a lot of scientists nowadays), this type of statistical interpretation is the one that makes the least assumptions.
