Thought I'd set a few things straight. If Tickled wanted a handheld with windows they're plenty on the market such as Aya Neo or OneXPlayer, also with features like OLED screens hall affect controls, and larger storage not to mention a huge price tag. Valve has a library of between 50,000 and 60,000 games, so far only a fraction has been properly tested with over 6,000 playable so far.Steam Deck using the smaller SSD drives does unfortunately limits storage (I'm hoping Micron releases the 2TB 2230 drive soon) that I understand was a technical and business choice based on availibility. When buying anything we have to consider use case, the way Tickled keeps bringing up laptops its obvious he didn't consider this. Valve mentioned that the 512GB Deck was the best selling model so the bragging about getting the most expensive is pretty dumb. When you consider other handhelds particularly Windows handhelds cost not only is the Steam Deck cheaper but better value based on the performance for dollar. There is a beta version of the Steam client that would allow the Deck experience on a Desktop, only the system power tweaks not being available. In the end it sounds like he wants a handheld with lots of hand holding (paid for of course).

I get some of his complaints about the Linux part but you would have the same issues if you built a PC and also you can run Windows on it just like if you bought a PC. Valve provides the hardware, Steam, and a support program to get developers to make their games more compatible. If he wants more compatibility he can run Windows on it. Also, this is how any early product is that is iterative... Like most companies a lot of issues can't be addressed prior to the roll-out of the initial product. They roll-out the initial product that is pretty good for early adopters, then release a better version of hte product once the criticisms and updates have been addressed; that is how many companies including Valve operate. Before your product has met the market you are trying your best to guess the market, but once something is out you have a more stable baseline to decide how to make a proper successor.

If you do get a deck, at least splurge for the 256 unless you plan on swapping out the internal drive, the 64 just isn't enough room realistically, I would only recommend the 64 is you plan to do that or you are literally just emulating and remote playing to the big boy where ever you keep it in the house. Did that for my wife and she is happy with the 64 model cause all she does is play Came Cube games and remote plays, me on the other hand, I like my 512 that Cucumber man gushes over, the extra drive space and the anti glare for travel is a nice perk.

I originally planned to get the 64 gig and swap the storage, but missed my order window so I got the 256gig instead, I'll probably change the storage later but it's been working great so far. Even got a matte hardened glass screen protector, a portable DAC to drive nice quality IEM headphones, tpu case, applied some cool skins and changed the boot anim to the og Xbox inspired one, this thing is way too fun to customize and play, eager to eventually upgrade storage and get hall-effect sticks later, my poor desktop rig is only getting started once a week for D&D night with friends Because I'm playing everything else on the deck XD

Frankly, Quantum is nothing more than a consumer with bad takes. Like, why even brag about his rigs as if that gives him credibility?
@logicalfundy2 жыл бұрын
Geeze, Quantum just repeats his points. Not even sure he needed to make another video, but I guess he wants the views. Oh, and a little tidbit on compatibility: Valve does do some optimization via a compatibility layer that sits between the game and the operating system (the layer is known as Proton). That said - the sheer number of games available on Steam (and the complexity of games in general) makes it completely impractical to make sure it works with every game made.

Tinkering with electronic products is a bad thing? Isn't Quantum a self proclaimed TV calibrator?

I love my steam deck. I got the 512gb model. I use reddit and youtube to learn what I needed to get the games to work. I set my setting to proton experimental and can play any game. The only issue I have is graphically intense games like Tekken can crash when the deck is not cooled down or near a fan. Most games I play are not intense and emulation is fantastic. The screen is not dull at all some players including quantum just like their color saturation higher than normal and different from the developers vision.

In the time it took for Quantum to explain how DBZ Kakarot isn't compatible with the Steam Deck because it said so on the screen, I typed "DBZ Kakarot Steam Deck" on KZbin and the first result was the game running on the Steam Deck. Really speaks volumes - he claims to spend countless hours doing stuff on PC, yet can't spend the ten minutes to look up the solution to almost all of his criticisms.

The Best part about the Deck is that there's VIRTUALLY no DRM compared to Consoles and able to play all the games that doesn't require online multi-player basically offline and that includes all of your emulated games
