Bro, I was able to exchange my TV through Samsung because of this exact issue. My TV auto updated while I had that option off. I showed Samsung your video of them nerfing the brightness through firmware updates and I told them I paid for the brightness. Long story short, they honored my request and I was able to exchange the TV for another S95B that got me back to FW 1098. I’m forever thankful for your hard work. Terribly sorry on your end

My S95B is in 1602 firmware too unfortunately… so disappointed of what Samsung is doing to our S95Bs… that TV costs me an arm, for real ! Here in France I gave more than a month of hard work to buy that TV !! And seeing my TV downgraded with every updates is killing me… it’s like if they are stealing little pieces of our TVs with every new updates… we paid so much for our S95Bs !! How is it possible that Samsung deals with our TVs like this ??

My S95B is an early model and has not seen internet connection in its lifetime, so still rocking an old firmware. I guess I'll bee keeping it that way. For smart features I use an Apple TV 4K.

Dang, I'm sorry this happened to you... Same thing happened to me when I first bought S95B back in Nov 2022. Selected to "Not Auto Update" and all of a sudden I noticed there was no pop I saw the day prior in the picture. It auto updated. I was still within timeframe, returned and bought a 4K chromecast. Bought a S95C this year with a chromecast also for livingroom. Keeping the TVs offline. It's shaddy they auto update even though you select "not to".

I'm not sure what's worse: Samsung updates or Windows updates. They both break stuff, reduce or remove features, and force apps that nobody wants while breaking security. At least on PC, you can choose Linux or something else. No such options on TVs.

It’s a shame that these companies can get away with “planned obsolescence” which is what this is. Until, we the consumers stop buying the newer models because they are an “improvement” on last year’s model. Samsung, Sony, Lg, etc will continue to this practice. I had the S95b when it 1st came out and it was the best looking tv on the market until they ruined it with these updates. The next TV that I buy, I will not setup the WiFi connection and just use my Xbox or PS5 to stream.

Great video. Does the s90D have these polarization issues or posterization, not sure the term. I have the tv arrving in about 30 mins. upgrading from a c8 lg oled. I'm still rocking my Q8FN so I am a bit outdated. It looked amazing when I first got it. Especially on dynamic (burnt my eyes wide open) but after a few years or so it updated then the brightness got butchered. I'm still on the boat fishing for the right TV that is close to the Q8FN. My Q8FN still looks good but not day 1 firmware good. I like to go for the flagship TVs. I have done the research (still on going, have a bunch stuff lined up on my cart to choose from) but i still haven't experience OLED. I might wait for the G4/C4. But what is the flagship for Samsung right now? For sony, i know it's the Sony A80L and for OLED, that varies. A lot of people stick to C1. But another question, Quantum -- Assuming that you still favor the Q8FN - What TV do you use the most right now and can't live without that you think would be close it but of course, leaps and bounds better. Only 1 TV that you put the work on.

I'm actually considering a sony but i can't with the motion. LG has great brightness but isn't beating my C1 color so i don't see a point there. Its so hard. We need someone to step up in the oled market.

It is a very SAD THING: Why should I always be offline ??? If I stay so my TV is not a TV but a MONITOR! When I have to stay always OFFLINE ( because of the picture quality) ) I can not use the SMART FUNCTION of my TV So my TV is not a SMART TV but a SILLY TV !! Dear Quantum! The Service Menu changes "Maxlux 338" and "Anapeak2 1023" still work with FW 1602/1622. So you can correct the brightness downgrade and restore the 1500 nits peak. Disclaimer: like every change in the Service Menu everything at your own risk.

I think everybody’s caught up in what I wanna call the Sony factor, an ignorant, kind of loyalty for a brand that doesn’t give you much, little harsh, but hey, sometimes disappointment built character, you gotta learn to live with it, and these brands have been disappointing for too long And we need to start holding them accountable, TCL and Hyson may be what they are, but at least high gave updates in better processing coming, and TCL gave us news on better color improvements, which is all good, TCL doesn’t really have to give us anything in motion as long as they keep it where it is or just a little better it should be great, Hyson hopefully will continue to give us motion improvements but as per color, they seem to be just fine. If not, they can do just a little better than they have been. At least they’re giving us processing improvements this year as well as TCL is promising, hopefully this encourage more people to give. What once was the underdog a chance, they are competing head to head and to toe with the big boys, that should be evidence enough for us to start making a change, and give us more of an open mind to these companies that are actually delivering And talking about better advancements other than tricks like Samsung is doing 10:12

Yep! My S95B I just got last week was on the original firmware. I had it on no auto update and two days later it’s on 1602. Will you try to redo settings to make it close to what or where it was before ? Just checking in.

iirc, Qtv did try to revert the firmware back to a previous firmware with his 1st Samsung 95b but it ruined the connectivity with the TV remote to the television. Meaning the remote became useless. I believe he then returned that TV and got a new one soon after.

Looking at your Colorspace menu and seeing the grayed out 100% adjustment point tells me you unlocked the CAL DAY and CAL NIGHT modes in SM. When you do that, it breaks the Custom color space. When you disable the CAL modes, you’ll be able to adjust Custom again without the severe posterization.

ive been painstakingly mulling over what oled Tv I should buy since two years now. I know , thats a long time. I just cannot pull the trigger. To compound the problem I live in germany so I have access to all of panasonics and phillips offerings. My shortlist includes the LG G2 Or LG G3, LG C3, Panasonic LZ2000 or MZ200, A95k but not A95L, Phillips 937 or 908, or 808 And samsungs S95c. Guess with the dropouts from the one connect box and the issues of samsung being able to crush me with "updates" I can shorten my list

The only way to avoid the Auto update is to turn off the internet on your S95B. Also try restarting your Router is also recommended

You can keep the tv online but you have to block Samsung tv permission to communicate with Samsung through your router Custom is busted. You can turn color down to 10 for a normal looking pale picture The hacks do restore brightness

I got the S95C and while its brighter it doesnt fully have that color of my s95b. Not to mention the bandwith for the HDMI is only 40gbps. Im gonna switch to the s90c 77 inch and do the service menu hack
