Due to my gut and dietary restrictions, I rarely have leftovers because I only have to cook for myself 95% of the time. When I cook for myself, my son cleans up what's left. It's a win/win, I eat, he eats, my moms eats whatever she wants. It's all good.

As an essential employee during these difficult times having something to look forward to everyday like your videos help more than you know. This is such a hard time and I find peace in routines. Yay! ASMR-Cooking with Mary Frey! I just love the sounds and video when you put us on the counter top while you cook! You know my grandma and grandpa both came over from Sicily and Grandma always made the best dishes from leftovers. They were poor in the old country and did not waste a thing. When I was little she and my mom even made me little short sets from flour sacks that they had saved. The flour sacks were always pretty little colorful prints. Grandma taught my mom and us kids to be grateful for what we had and to waste nothing. Grandma would have proud of you Mary!!

I'm jealous - I really wish I could wipe mine down, but I'm so allergic to the wipes themselves (Lysol, Clorox, you name it, I'm allergic) that it would actually make me sicker to use them than to not. I'm really glad other people can, though.

Thank you so much for this message about everyone, everywhere being affected by the world-wide pandemic. I roasted a chicken last week and we had yummy dinners for three nights with mashed potatoes and peas (I made pan gravy). Then my sweet hubby picked the meat off the bones after I cooked down the carcass with carrots, celery and onions. We added more veggies and broth and the meat and some egg noodles and we have several meals of soup. That is great for stretching food during quarantine. We were supposed to have fish tacos with cilantro/cabbage/lime slaw but our Instacart shopper substituted deli coleslaw and that sweet mayo style isn't what I expected.... First World Problem for sure.

My surgery was cancelled and I’d gotten so mentally ready for it. Now with the covid virus and the anxiety of wondering if my new scheduled surgery date will also be cancelled is just a lot. Us too! So thankful for our two kitties Jake & Mary....and our new rescue pup, Hurley! Hurley came just in time! Such a gift from God. Mae Li (13 yrs old now!) has always been terrified of dogs. Wouldn’t even touch a teacup puppy. ...But with Hurley she does everything! Walks, feeds, washes him and even picks up his poop! Our cat Jake has attacked every dog he’s ever met but as soon as he saw Hurley he was like, “dude, you’ve been through a lot! Come on in!” I even had all 3 of them sleeping on my lap one time unsolicited! I’m so excited about another recipe to use my leftover Chinese food rice:) I usually try to make rice pudding. Never comes out that great. So the other day I did make some rice balls out of mine and I spiced it with Indian herbs… baked tho. They were pretty good. That’s another thing we have in common I guess, Mary! I can’t believe I just made rice balls out of my leftover rice and now you’re doing it. Do you see that fire stone mixing bowl/picture on your stove!? Vintage right?! Guess what? My mama Betty left one for me when she went to heaven. I absolutely loved that mixing bowl! It was so perfect size for my little family of 3 for making pancake batter etc. I miss it so much because I accidentally broke it last year. I found them on eBay. A few of them but they were just a bit too expensive. I may just indulge now that I see you have one, LOL. I’m definitely adding it to my list of things we have in common! By the way did I ever send you that list? It’s so amazing because it’s definitely not things that are common among most people. OK You cavemen lovebirds! Thanks for another amazing video! Thanks for helping us through this Quarantine time. If anybody understands what it’s like to have to quarantine and isolate I know it’s my dear Freylife friends. … And you know how to do it with pizzazz, class, style, creativity, gratitude, and LOVE! Enjoying your channel so much. I’m self quarantined and experimenting with new recipes too. Arancini is easy to put together and delicious. I use Arborio Rice in my version. Today it’s more ordinary fare.I’m baking cookies, making shepherds pie, meatloaf and meatballs for my freezer. My cats are recovering well from colds.

Mary you could always blanch the asparagus and freeze it. The chicken and rice balls are very close to croquettes except those have stuffing in them as a binder. As something different for the asparagus try a light sprinkling of parmigiana. I love to take a small bowl, pour in a bit of olive oil, garlic powder, parmigiana melted butter and coat...whatever! Its really good on Naan bread and then grill of brown off in a skillet. Tasty with salads. Thanks again for brightening my day. We’re driving back to Andalusia AL from Ft. Wayne IN. Long boring drive. You know all about that. One last thing, have you tried Alfredo sauce in place of creamed soup? Aldi’s has great Alfredo sauce and you can get it with garlic and cheese! I make my own Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Simple, tasty, filling. Add some garlic bread and you’re ready to dive in. Really appreciate you and your videos. God bless. Glad you’re feeling better. PS- Mary when you get a delivery putting gloves on would be better. You’re getting the “dirty” bags and washing your hands first doesn’t really help. Wash after you touch “dirty” stuff.

My mom was Italian and made orincini balls with rice Parmesan and in the middle put small cube of mozzarella it was a rice cheese ball all melts in the middle ! Yum

Ok so I have made these many times. I usually make my rice with chicken broth and then I stick a small piece of mozzarella and prosciutto in the middle of the ball. It's so yummy!

If you buy fresh asparagus from the grocery and keep the bottom of the stalk in water (like just a lil) it has a longer shelf life than just keeping it in the fridge. (Since it starts to grow)
