I love metal. But a cello and and a talented wielder can be the most beautiful and moving sounds this world will ever hear. Timeless.

I totally agree. It is like hearing 2 souls having a cosmic conversation - sad and joyful at the same time. Mournful and rejuvenating at once. Something uniquely special about it.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the metal and heavy stuff, but THIS is a fantastic demonstration of the QC. Love it guys!

I'm sorry but what is this suppose to display? Isn't it just some reverb added and some multi-note effects on the trumpet on his solo? Not that it doesn't sound great but how much different is it from the QC-less version? It doesn't sound, at least to me, like it's doing much. Rabea's demos for example sound way more complete in making use of everything it has to offer.

@@lucas_sg Thanks for the great question. We were just hoping to demonstrate how useful it can be for a live performance. For instance the Impulse response alone helped massively with the DI tone for the guitar and violin. There are some subtle effects like light tremolo and light boost that also help the instruments carry more weight. It's just really nice to walk into a situation with sounds that we choose. Your point is spot on that we aired on the subtle side with the effects. That's just how we like to use it with out music. But if a different band chooses to use a way heaver hand with the effects, they absolutely can. This is just our take on the quad!

@@DtIGmusic Thanks for the thorough response! I get it now. In that case t's a great demo, the multiplayer aspect of the QC is one that I haven't seen used a lot on KZbin videos and it makes sense that it's better displayed with a string quartet rather than four prog metal guitar players at the same time.

Please do more like this video. Sick to the bone with metal and rock players playing the same (boring) pentatonic stuff on amp modelers wherever you look. This video was an insight to an uncharted path.

I would like a detailed overview of: how this was set up, recorded, what processing, effects when/how in signal chain, what kind of files created, how they were transferred and to what. In other words, I still seem to have a vague idea what this can do!?!? I play Novax 8-string hybrid, can I do separate outs to bass and guitar amps ( or separate amp models)? To what extent is this a recording device also?

The Quad Cortex is essentially a powerful computer with footswitches. It features 4 inputs (2 XLR/1/4" combo and 2 1/4" inputs) and 4 outputs (2 XLR and 2 1/4" outputs). This flexibility allows you to connect a variety of instruments and microphones. In this case Guitar & Violin: Connected through 1/4" inputs. Cello & Trumpet: Connected using the microphone preamps via XLR. The device offers 4 rows of 'real estate' for routing and processing signals. Each row can be used independently or combined for more complex setups. It looks like in this video, this is the signal chain: Channel 1: Neural capture (could be an amp or modelled pedal), compressor, and reverb. Channel 2: Compressor, modulation, and delay. Channel 3: Overdrive. Channel 4: Neural capture, amp block, and delay. In your case, you can definitely set up separate outputs for bass and guitar amps. Alternatively, you could use the internal amp models and route the signal to two separate chains: one for a bass chain and one for a guitar chain. While the Quad Cortex is primarily designed as a pedalboard/processor, it also has an integrated USB interface. This allows you to record directly into your DAW without needing additional hardware.

Thanks! This helps a lot. So, the DAW can see QC as an interface and provide the recording functionality. For amp and effects capture, neural capture, I am wondering how that process is performed?
@ng.productions
@ng.productions 7 ай бұрын
@@stevenignelzi9257 Exactly yeah! The QC has built in amps and effects that sound great, but you can also 'capture' real amps and pedals too. The QC has dedicated inputs/outputs for capture, you literally just mic up/plug in the amp/pedal you want to capture the sound of, go to settings to select 'new neural capture' and it plays a series of noises into the amp/pedal and returns back to the QC, capturing the sound of the amp/pedal your settings. You can then fine tune it to get it sounding accurate. Like with all capture/modelling, it's capturing the amp/pedal at that moment, like a snapshot. So if you turn up the gain, it won't respond in the same way an amp would. But it means you capture 'your sound' and if you run overdrives on your pedalboard normally, you can capture them in the QC and use it. The QC is an impressive piece of gear!

What does the QC do in this case? I hear reverb and its nicely mixed, but since its miced acoustic instruments, wouldn't a normal mixer do the same job?

The guitar and violin are going straight in with 1/4", and the other two are mic'd and XLR in. It looks like there are amp/pedal captures on the 1st and 4th channels which will be making a huge difference. And then the processing (compressor models, reverbs and delays in this case) will be far more extensive and better sounding than most sound desks. The description mentions how they're toggling effects on/off during the performance too. The QC is also the recording interface
