Good evening sir... I am a student... I have seen you video on quartile deviation... Thank you for the very informative video... There is no problem with regards to the computation,. I was able to follow the steps in computing the quartile deviation... I just have a problem with regards to interpreting the data... I just would like to ask a fee questions. 1. What is the use of the quartile deviation? 2. After all the computation, what does the value of the quartile deviation tell us about the data of our study? 3. I have been searching the internet, and all the articles say is that the quartile deviation tells us about how spread our data is... I still can't relate it to the numbers... I mean what does the answer of the quartile deviation has to do with the spreading of data? Please help me sir... Thank you...

Sir, why do we have to take (n+1) What I mean to ask is why is there the necessity of adding 1 to n before dividing it by 4? Please answer 🙏

Nidhi Mathew if we consider the interval of real numbers [1,𝑥] the point that's at first quartile distance say ‘m’ from the ends would be m - 1 = x - 3m, that gives m = (x +1)/4. And same way the calculation in Real Analysis goes for 2nd and 3rd quartile.

@@bksoam why is the set considered from 1 to x

KHUSHBOO BHAVNANI it’s a general expression. U can change the interval as per ur understanding

How did you know that the observation should be 2nd or 3rd or 6th or 7th?

Sir, what if you didnt got a decimal? What if you didnt get 2.25 but got 2 instead? Is 2nd + (3rd -2nd) correct?

then simply the second number is ur quartile

what if the answer for the first line is 8.1?? Where did I minus that since the 8th is the last score?
@bksoam5 жыл бұрын
Marrean Jill Hequibal since u will be dividing it by 4 it would always be .25, .75, .50 after decimal and u could never get 8.1 as third quartile shall be below top 25% items

what if the number of the observation is an odd number ??

In that case, the r(N+1)/4 will give you a complete or decimal number. In case of complete number count that number from left for the first quartile and in case of decimal follow the same process.
