@@masongreen4433 The problem is Tanner is not a cobbler, he doesn't really have a deep understanding of the technicalities when it comes to shoes/boots construction. Granted Rose Anvil isn't a cobbler either, but his reviews are a lot more in depth due to the sheer amounts of shoes/boots he has cut opened and reviewed. Essentially all Tanner can do is review the leather quality and maybe a cursory overview of the level of craftsmanship.

Tanner this video made me realize that if a leather worker were to cut himself, it would be morbid. I'm sure you have, and I'm sure you'd have stories that would rival a seasoned butcher. The strength involved in cutting and the sharpness of the blades isn't lost on me. Crazy stuff lol.

This shoe has vegetable tanned leather, not chrome tanned because you don't see the blue hue on the underside of the leather and most shoes are made of veg tanned calf leather. The quality of shoe is not just the quality of leather, the construction: whether it is goodyear welted or just glued. Sole: most modern shoes have rubber mid sole and outer sole but traditional good quality shoes has hard leather from the mid sole all the way to the outer sole. Heels: It can be rubber or high end shoes have stacked leather heels that are glued and reinforced by nails that are nailed into the heels but bent before it reaches your heels.

Amazing video! Will definitely be looking into this when I buy high end boots from now on! The craft of leather shoes is fascinating to me! The expertise is so useful when I walk into a store. Could you please check out one shoe brand I’ve loved for years, Jeffery West. I’ve been to one of their stores and loved their handmade shoes with very unique designs but I’ve never known what kind of leather they use!

@@unachimba9 so this particular brand is little well known to most people. They have a couple shops but it was born out the shoe making town of northampton. Their designs tend to be very eclectic, lots of personalised features, high end leather, a bit gothic some may say but I’m sure they use high quality leather.

I ask about craftsmanship. Please actually walk me through anything about how they are made. Like was that foam in the sole? Do you think foam is in high end boots?
