For those commenting on the loss of Roger's top note. The timber in our voices does change / lower over time. There are some things you can do to prolong your range ( like never smoking ) or continuing vocal exercises. Mostly, its use it or lose it. Unfortunately, both Roger & Freddie were smokers. Smoking kills your voice over time. It is one of the things my mom said to me at 13, when she saw my friend smoking. Quote... If you ever expect to make a living with your voice. Just know that smoking is one of the quickest ways to destroy it, End Quote.

For everyone sad that Roger wasn’t doing his falsetto... he stopped doing that as early as the 80s, because even with his range in the 70s it was hard to do when out of breath as you are performing a concert. Plus, the lows and highs get more difficult with time because vocal chords age just as the person does, and smoking doesn’t help with that
@MilesAway
@MilesAway 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah thank you, I've been saying that. He stopped doing that in the Jazz tour.

The way Brian looked up at the line 'the volunteers came home that day' breaks my heart. The song is about time travel so that makes me think that maybe he's wishing to go back to the 70s or 'home' where everything was simpler. It has to be so hard on a person to see the world change so much in one lifetime. He was born in 1947, this is from 2012. I couldn't imagine living that long and through so much. Maybe Freddie had the right idea dying young. Maybe Brian wants to see him again and that's why he looked up. Or maybe he saw a funny shadow on the ceiling, I'll never know. But it makes me sad.

After The Flood The song is about people traveling to space on a 1 year long mission. Due to time differences, the mission lasts 100 years on earth and the travellers come back to a world where it’s only their grandchildren and nobody they knew prior to their mission.

@@Baphy-xxx Well, time dilation is, in effect, time travel - but it's a one-way trip to the future. Of course, time is always like that. Some days you ask yourself, "Where did the time go?", and sometimes (pun intended) the clock just crawls. So time dilation is just like a lot of good days, all going by too fast. Kind of... :-}

Beautiful song. Beautiful voices. They are missing Freddie so bad. It's so freaking obvious. Brian often looks up to the sky and Roger has a kind of melancholic and sad expression on the face. This made me feel sad and nostalgic too.
@maddy7
@maddy7 5 жыл бұрын
Sure they miss Freddie, but "39" is Brian's song, not Freddies. Brian is more concerned about the earth & physics, hence the sadness as humanity is taking a dump on the one planet we have. I think both Roger & Brian are enjoying themselves in 2012 with their family & friends. They do mention Freddie often, but we can't forget Queen wouldn't be Queen if not for the Fab 4~~Deaks, Roger, Brian & Freddie.

He hasn't even done that since the News Of The World tour in 1978. He didn't do it in the Jazz tour or the Crazy tour, and after that they never performed it until Queen + AL. To sum it up, it's not cause of his age. He stopped doing it in the late 70's.

I think it's great first of all for KZbin to give me a platform to revisit groups I grew up with from the '60s and '70s, the best era for music IMO. I loved watching Brian sing HIS own song with passion, and Roger enjoying himself as well. I"m 63, and there's no way a voice 40 years later can reach those high notes~~time does take its a toll on a person's body & voice.
