I love all four of them, but John is, and always will be, a personal favourite of mine. His songs are some of the sweetest and warmest of Queen's collection, not to mention his iconic bassline in almost EVERY Queen song! To add to that, I always think his quiet, yet firm personality is so inspiring-- he may not be in the spotlight, but you can never not notice this bass hero. Mr. John Deacon, if you read this, just know that I really respect and love you!

John Deacon is the very best of all extraordinary musicians, in my humble opinion. Besides being incredibly gifted and tasteful as a musician, so intelligent, down to earth, wise and humble as a person. The kind of traits that you could admire in anyone, only amplified by his brilliance and talent... “Illustrious,” as Brian has perfectly described him! So much admiration, God bless you, John! ❤️🙏🏻

What a blessing to have four very different personalities plus extremely talented vocalists and songwriters all in one band. It's easy to see how this could have torn the band apart but instead they worked hard to keep it together with each member having a voice. Well done boys.

The compromises weren't always easy to reach though! John wouldn't have had you're my best friend or AOBTD if Freddie hadn't supported him and he always encouraged him when the other two weren't keen on his style of music Apparently Roger and Brian fought a lot over singles etc but Freddie was the one who calmed things down and found a compromises (I hate they had Freddie depicted in the film as the difficult one) There were also difficulties over some of Freddie songs having gay overtones So often they weren't on the same page at all (Hot space nearly split them up!) But somehow they got through it But performing they worked Except for Freddie not being able to hear himself on stage half the time!

Strangely, he did the same to me after I saw Queen in 1974, then in 1976 I went to Hyde Park and heard him play what was then a new beast called a Musicman Stingray....It came across Hyde Park like absolute thunder. It was then that I realised how he was the most important man in the band on live performances....well, him and Roger. In my 20-odd times of seeing Queen they never ever once got it wrong. They were brilliant and nobody sounds like them. These days I have about 12 basses and have played in a few bands myself....all because of him really.

David Bowie deserves some credit. John Deacon said that Bowie came up with the riff. Bowie denied this. Over the years there was some confusion over who wrote the riff, until Brian May clarified it: “Deacy began playing, 6 notes the same, then one note a fourth down”. After the dinner break, Bowie changed Deacon’s memory of the riff to “Ding-Ding-Ding Diddle Ing-Ding. Bowie changed one eight note into a sixteenth note, which made all the difference.

Gracias Queen.

The most modest and very talented member of the legendary group. I dream of thanking him for the songs that he wrote and asking how he is doing, nothing more, I know that John needs peace, so don't need to burden him with a lot of questions. Alas, this dream will not be realized, so I will write here: Thank you, John Deacon! Your songs will always sound cool!

I miss him greatly, admire and respect his loyalty to his incredibly close friend Freddie. A perfect storm of talent, personalities and minds created Queen, Queen IS John, Freddie, Roger & Brian. They were a family, meant so much to do many and 50 years later, still picking up new fans from all over the world and others who had never thought of Rock as a source of joy before. We lost Freddie and John, Rog and Brian are out flying the flag, it took John a long time to get over his friend. As much as I miss him, I want him to be happy far more. He did 2 funny cameo's in videos for Morris Minors in Stutter Rap and another song they did.

John Deacon is one of the best bassists of all time. Way up there, and in my opinion number one. Apart from being more known for basslines, he is also a genius songwriter! I mean, just look at Spread Your Wings! What a genius song, and one of my favorites. Looking forward to hits written by Brian and Freddie and the next installation in these mini documentaries. I look forward to them all week and they always make my Friday!
