Indeed, MJ was rather obsessed with Freddie in the late 70s and the influence is significant upon MJs stage presence adjustments made during that time. This in no way diminishes Michael’s presence, but we saw at the time often static interspersed with amazing dance grow to playing specifically for the larger audience of arenas and stadiums whereas the J5 in those venues were still staged primarily for the camera. After seeing Freddie work the crowd Michael transitioned his traditional presence with exaggerated moves visible to the “nosebleed” seats and took things to the next level during “Off the Wall” & “Thriller” shows that cemented the King of Pop stage presence that became defining and legendary.

There are two different "dust" phrases which I think you are mixing up. Someone dying and falling face first on the ground/dirt/dust, would "bite the dust." Someone following another car or horse in a race (thus in the loosing position) is typically in a cloud of dust thrown up from the lead driver/rider, and would "eat dust." Though loosing, not necessarily dying.

If there was any inter-group inspiration being harvested between Michael Jackson and Queen with regard to "Another One Bites the Dust", it would have been Jackson being inspired, since "Billie Jean" wasn't released until January of 1983, while "The Game", which was the album with "Another One Bites the Dust" was released at the end of June, 1980.

Yes. It's a similar beat. Funny you should mention that. Michael was a huge Queen fan. In fact Michael is the one. Who convinced Fred / the band. To release this as a single. He told them it was a hit. It went to#1 in 1980. Michael later admitted the Thriller album itself was heavily influenced by this song / sound. PS. The face on the drums. Is the drummer. It's a bit of an inside joke. In the early to mid 70s. Roger was quite a heart throb. Girls loved him. The irony of being the heart throb of the band. Behind a drum kit. Where you are not easily visible. Struck him / them, as funny. inspiring him to put his face on the front of the kit itself. The bassist ( John Deacon ) wrote this one.

Roger is the one who brought synths in first, when he bought a newly-launched American synth , the Oberheim OB-X , and showed it off to his bandmates. Apparently the OB-X was a vast improvement over the early Moog synths (which the band members disliked because early Moogs weren’t very flexible.) They liked this OB-X so much that the band immediately adopted its use.
