People need to realize that Giri is not the draw seeking guy people perceive him to be. He is an excellent theoretician and an insane calculator. He was world no.3 not so long ago. For those who are wondering: No, you cannot block Rxg3+ with Rg5, because simply Rxg5+. The king cannot capture it because the queen defends the rook. The only legal move for the black king is Kh6, then Rxh4#. So it’s actually mate in 2 rather than mate in 3.

i’ve always assumed it’s the volume knob for his speakers? he makes a move, realises he’s getting the move sound playing and interfering with the mic recording then has to turn it down

I'm tired of jokes abt ''Anish Drawnish'', and BTW do your own research, you will be amazed that the one ( 2750+) who have the most drawn games in tournaments isnt Anish....it's Magnus
@jacobmaciver3543
@jacobmaciver3543 3 жыл бұрын
Not saying you are wrong but doing my own research you are only using his overall games that are ties not his percent of games that are ties as magnus constantly gets further than anish hes of course gonna have more games and therefore more ties

7:19 Rd8 Didn't he lose tempo there? He moved the Rook to h8 a few moves later anyway, and it doesn't look like Rd8 served any purpose. Can someone explain what I missed?

What an amazing game. Defending well and using the material for a winning attack. Tari probably never plays that sacrifice again.

6:00 Why didn't Tari sac the g pawn with g2 which forces Kxg2? That would create an open file for Black to occupy with his Rook with Rg8+ or 0-0-0 followed by Rag8+

Oic, and there are a lot of possibilities for Black with that sac, and who wants such a passive -- retreated -- Bishop! But yeah, one has to be prepared indeed for this theory, on both sides! Gg, thx.
