They were really on that steam locomotive going between 30 and 60 miles an hour. The slow part at the beginning of the song was a verse from another song that Freddie wanted to use because he liked it. The woman in the video was Roger’s girlfriend Debbie Leng. At this time Brian was going through terrible depression because of the public scrutiny over his marriage breaking up, his relationship with his wife now and feeling like a failure over all of it. Being outside for a few days filming this did wonders for him. Freddie was worried about Brian and when he sings, “your smile speaks books to me” you can see it means something to Brian. They were all brothers and never closer during this time. Only appropriate that Roger, the drummer is wearing the conductor hat. Love the video and the song. A Synth Bass was used on this track as well.

This is such a great video and the fact that it is filmed on a real moving train is so cool. The drummer is the conductor of the band so it is fitting that Roger is wearing a conductor's hat. How is he doing all that drumming, sitting on a drummer's stool while on a moving train? Brian's hair blowing in the wind is absolutely sooooo Rock Star. John really seems to be loving the whole train idea and of course Freddie is as always, exceptional and larger than life. I love the song but the video really takes it over the top for me. One of the guys suggested that they do this video on a train and they finally found a train that they could rent and paint for the video. This is an actual track of an old train route that they were able to use for the video. According to Brian, that train was really going that fast. He said it felt pretty dangerous. People keep it together on skateboards and snowboards so I guess it was just a matter of getting used to the rhythm of the rail. Thanks for your reactions.

Indeed. Filmed on the Nene Valley Railway, about a mile or so from where I live. It was also used in a couple of James Bond films

You really need to react to Headlong, Somebody to Love live at Montreal (much different than the studio version) and White Queen live at Hammersmith Odeon 1975. Their live performances can’t be beat.
