FBM, love the videos, this one is really interesting because of the versatile uses of the box. Like the way you had this one, could be a 2 N 1 nuc box. Can't wait to see the 2nd part. I sorry for not being able to make a donation, but here lately I have been so broke I can't pay attention!!!

Miss ya Don, This should help minimize multiple nucs in my yard for queen rearing. Also thanks for winter feeding tip. Do you bother with sugar blocks/cakes for winter feeding?

Hey Don Would you be worried at all when using this as a regular hive that the grooves would give the small hive beetles somewhere to hide?

I been broke most of my life. but I try to provide a service everyone can afford. think if every one that use 1 of the videos to save them 10.00 and just sent a 1.00 donation it would help to continue keeping the channel a learning channel.thanks for your thoughts. Don

Queen Castle is pretty much just for getting the queens bred or banking them, so 2 frames is plenty.

I hope they have stored plenty so we don't have to feed. Don

If you have a bee space at the top AND the bottom of your boxes, doesn't that just encourage the bees to build comb between the boxes?
@Cdlzzl10 жыл бұрын
He is leaving approximately 5/16 of an inch. Less then 1/4 and it get propolized more then 3/8" gets burr comb. (that is the basic principle of bee space) so by leaving something in between 1/4 and 3/8 he is allowing bees to pass freely and usually that space is respected not not filled in with anything. Also as he stated his primary goal of leaving space at the bottom is to keep bees especially queens from getting smashed when he is setting frames back in.

CDizzle Absolutely! The point I was trying to make was that Don has a number of videos where he puts a number of 5 frame boxes ontop of each other. If there is a bee space at the top of a lower box and the bottom of an upper box, you immediately have twice the space bees require.

Hey, Don. So, HOW do we make a donation? I love your videos, and have definitely saved at least $10. :-)
