Queen charlottes daughters not wanting to leave their mom behind while she stayed frozen in time -mourning her husband who is alive is such a heartbreaking and tragically beautiful piece of writing. If they got married and left their mom she’d be stuck in that castle and have to worry alone about George just like when she first got there. They deserved to love and leave the nest as well but their choice to stay for their mother, I respect it😭❤️

And this is why Lady Danbury still continues to hold the first ball of every season. She fought for it, and it was like her for the culture Beyoncé moment lol.

Loved your reaction! To clarify something about the eldest son since Trey brought it up: The oldest son had a child! That child was the young woman (Princess Charlotte) we saw in episode 1, who was dead. She was the heir to the throne, but died in childbirth. She was the only legitimate grandchild of Queen Charlotte and King George. 15 children, more than 50 grandchildren, but only one legitimate heir since all the other sons of the couples were on some Nick Canon type of sh*t. The line of succession would have been: King George, eldest son (George IV) and then Princess Charlotte. But since she died there was a literal constitutional crisis. Those who know history, but this might come as surprise, but really highlights the despair. Eventually an heir will be born, however it was uncertain whether the heir could assume the throne. After all back then, you could only become monarch at age 18. So for 18 years they were threats of killing them (she was the last of George's line. If she died it was over.) So the heir was kept in isolation. After King George died, George IV became king (the eldest son) and he and his brother agreed to live as long as possible to the day the heir would become 18 so that King George's line would continue. EDIT: For those who care the heir that would continue that line from which the current royal family still descends was Queen Victoria.

@cleopatra3744 thank u for this breakdown. I was confused because I thought George iv was enough. Constitutional issue is nuts.
@cleopatra374417 күн бұрын
@ you’re welcomed! The show did a poor job explaining the crisis and if one is not familiar with the regency era, things seem confusing af. But you would think that with 11 boys that there would be plenty of legitimate heirs around. These types of problems are not only unique to past time periods, but still happen in our modern age (e.g. Spain and Japan) If there was no heir (grandchild), the heir to the throne would be the next eligible male heir relative up up from the family tree ( a cousin). The constitutional crisis of the current Japanese royal family shows what would have happened if QC and KG never gotten a heir/ grandchild. The only difference in Japan is that women can’t ascend the throne and in the UK (until 2013) they would only give the throne to any woman if there’s no eligible male heir. So Japan‘s current emperor has just one child. A daughter. He has a younger brother and through him two nieces and one nephew. The nephew was born way later (more than 12 years from his sister and the emperor’s daughter). The current line of succession looks like this: 1) The Emperor 2) the emperor’s younger brother and 3) the nephew. This was less than 20 years ago, but Japanese parliament was debating if they should allow a woman ( the Emperor’s daughter) to ascend the throne because back then the nephew wasn’t born and the family line/ line of succession looked like this: 1. emperor 2. emperor‘s brother 3) NO HEIR. THE LINE DIES OUT and the government would be looking for a distantly removed relative who was related a an emperor in the past. The emperor’s uncles had no kids so they would be looking at a relative who shares the same great-great grandparents. Anyways, when parliament was about to change the law. The emperor‘s brother announced his wife was gave birth to a boy. He forced his wife to go through multiple rounds of miscarriages and IVF so that he and his son could assume the throne.

Also Trey & Tasha to add to what Brimsley was explaining about her daughters if you look, the Queen is still wearing the style of clothing when they were younger yet if you look at “present day” the clothing style has changed…Charlotte stays HIS queen never changing her fashion so when he has his episodes he remembers her

Her oldest son actually did get married and have an heir. The young woman who died in the first episode was his daughter. That's why he was so distraught compared to everyone else.

Tasha, I actually love what they're doing with Lord Danbury 😂 Hear me out: He represents how men who feel powerless can inflict onto others. His sex romps tend to happen after some racist incident. It would have been easy to make him physically abusive or a cheater, but to make Lord Danbury a misogynist he inflicts the inequality he experiences outside their home at Lady Danbury to feel "empowered".George even wields his power as king at Charlotte whenever she presses him about his behavior since he feels powerless over his mental state
