I think us older folk have seen the best of people, long before the age of the selfie and such like. I used to groom Peter Gadd`s (Arnold Peters) little dog...what a smashing chap, home made wine was his hobby and he`d chat away about that, totally unpretentious.....it was a different world.

"Thank you" so much dearest Helene, and wishing You, Alan (and your nearest and dearest) a "HAPPY NEW YEAR" 🥳 as well, and may 2025 be kinder to us all. I won't be 'seeing in' the New Year. Meaning, not staying up until midnight, unless I still happen to still be awake, but the first day of 2025 will appear, whether I 'see it in' or not. Won't it? I used to stay up, but find it harder as the years roll by. Although Bob (being a night owl) will still be up at midnight. "Bless him" 🙏 and I know that he has a bottle of wine that he just might partake a glass 🍷 of, to 'see in' the New Year, and why not? Good morning my dear Lyndell, such a joy to hear from you, your warm words brighten my every day and I am so thankful for our amazing friendship, a highlight of 2024 something I believe in and treasure. Good friends are hard to find but I have certainly found one. I am so blessed to have yours and Neils friendship, something so special. Very windy here today, i battled to put the bird feeders out and they are spinning, with the birds clinging on for grim death, bless them. We had a windy walk yesterday, all walking sideways, I don't know how Kasey stays on her little feet, he tiny tail upright in the wind and the look on her face when she wonders why her bottom and undercarriage is so cold is priceless believe me. Bayleys long flowing hair protects him, he glides along like a superhero. They both bring such joy. I am sitting here, Kasey on my lap, Bayley on my hip and Merry snorting in my ear, but bless them all, they send you big hugs as always. I have just taken a cuppa up to Alan, my daily ritual, the other day I went flying across the bedroom floor, the tea went everywhere, even in his new slippers, but my pride remained intact. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, it certainly woke him up😂😂. May I wish you both and all your precious Family a Happy and Peaceful New Year, I cannot wait to share more joy and happiness with you and may our friendship ever flourish.Take good care of yourself my friend, I will have a Sherry to toast you both, my special friends so far away, but always in my ❤. I remember Mum and Dad talking about the Archers programme. I find it interesting to know what the RF enjoy watching. Glad to hear Camilla still watches Strictly and that she even got our late Queen somewhat interested guessing scores who might be going through etc. Good to know just how interested Prince Philip was in their subjects that he was interested to know why and what we'd like watching! American here - I remember hearing a story of the queen going over to her sister Margaret’s house going up the stairs to see her and within one minute the queen is flustered and coming back down the stairs, and the reason was Margaret was listening to the archers and didn’t want to talk to her sister until the show was over - did you tell us that story Neil?

I can imagine Queen Camilla being a part of the Women’s Institute, doing all those wonderful things like baking, supporting local charities, polishing off the sherry as she cuts some dahlias for the vase! She is my quintessential middle class wife, possibly with a farmer by her side.

@chalkiememe4183 when I was at boarding school we used to stand in a queue outside the dining room waiting to go into dinner. At the first dum from the kitchen radio the door was opened and we filed in to eat .... and cook would listen to the Archers ! So,not only was I still humming but I was craving rice pudding too 😋 Happy New Year 👋 Chum .

I remember when Camilla appeared in the Archers. She came across as really lovely and a lot of fun. Princess Margaret also made an appearance too. When I was growing up I would listen to The Archers with my dad. It was our special time together. We would sit in the dining room with a pot of tea. He remained a devoted listener right up until his death at the age of 86.

I think its a mistake to turn it into a play. Everyone will have their own vision of what the people and places look like. I wont watch a film after reading a book because of this. Watch a film and then read the book - yes but never the other way round.

🇭🇲🦘👋 You did ask! So, I agree that if Queen Camilla can attend the opening night of 'this' new play, then she will; and why not? A great idea. It really is so nice to hear an uplifting story like this one Neil. It really is. I am happy for Queen Camilla that she has these special interests (like the dancing show, and listening to radio plays, like "The Archers") and why not? I also like it that she will not be interrupted (even by the King) if watching the dancing, or listening to her radio plays. As, I am certain that there are many things that are the King's alone to enjoy, in which she leaves him to it, uninterrupted. So, I will look forward to hearing if (in September 2025) the Queen is able to (in her busy diary) make time to attend the opening night (in the theatre) of one of her favourite radio plays. 📻 I too listen to the radio (trannie) every evening. With the usual crowd listening in, where you can often join in, by phone or via text message (some texts read out). From which you do get to know the usual listeners, and where they are from. In itself, often quite entertaining. Especially the friendly banter! 🥳 "HAPPY NEW YEAR" I take this opportunity to wish everyone a very "HAPPY NEW YEAR" and may 2025 be kinder to us all, in so many ways. That said!
