What promise was that exactly? To serve ? I cannot deny that the Queen has executed her official duties as a head of state in an exemplary fashion . Yet what of her duties as a Monarch supposedly committed to the welfare of Great Britain and all those , to include those from whence and wherever , committed to British , Britain’s values ? Yes, those old fashioned values recognising hard work , loyalty honour and commitment to the said same . The Monarch has and holds a pastoral duty to uphold those values at home and abroad amongst the “commonwealth “ . In seventy years of my life , I may have missed anything attesting to such a thought ? Ineffective may be a word not necessarily my opinion. There is much to be analysed on this topic but best left at the questions and questioning and for those of more of acute analysis than myself.

It would have been hard on her. Imagine being a beautiful young women entitled to be out enjoying life in your youthful prime and you suddenly get lumbered with all this work and responsibility.And you can't even turn down the job. To opt for a less pressured one, so you can focus on husband, home and family more and take care of them. And modern career women think they have balancng home and work issues to grapple with.She was doing this long before women's lib. And managed to hold onto her marriage for over 60 years, as well as successfully raise 4 kids whilst doing this high pressure job of Queen. No sick leave or maternity leave. And still working at age 90+ . Incredible! She is a very femini e ladylike woman, but she knows how to wield a spanner, to fix a car, in old overalls or ride a horse. I have never met any woman in her 90's who still rides, let alone a queen who does, at age 90+ years of age. But she still rides. Just trying to mount the horse would be an ordeal...

She’s such a graceful and amazing Queen! She had such a natural beauty when younger and she has truly aged in a very graceful manner and her choice of outfits and colors are always incredible! I also really love stories about her humor, and the corgis are just so adorable! I'm an American but I love the royal family and history and have studied them for years. Yet, I never realized until they made the comparison here how spot on is the similarity. Its like it all clicked! Queen Mary was really a horrible mother. Distant. Nasty. Hardly saw them. She didn't even know the children's nanny was abusing them! But both Kind George and the Queen Mother were excellent parents. Very loving and spent a LOT of time with their children.

The queen has lived an amazing life she has triumphed above everything good and bad she has worked hard and gave her whole life to what she believed in at the age of 15 can you imagine having all that responsibility and living up to the expectations that her father knew that she could manage it and succeed. Down to earth not out there to gain things but just being themselves and leading in a special way. Catherine and William are so lucky to have such a magnificent grandmother and had a fabulous grandfather who cared and loved for them and their country and the commonwealth countries. You can see it in their eyes faces and what they do and what they say that they are in it because they love it and they are dedicated to it. They are not trapped in this they flourish into helping others and showing kindness it comes from the heart. The queen has Had to make so many tough decisions I would be proud to stand next to her and learn from her. She is a very wise funny loving kind person goes inside and out. Her love for people and animals show how kind she is. She cares about everyone no matter what or who they are. But she also hast to draw the line when things are not right whether they’re family or not she hast to uphold her dedication and rules of the monarchy. God bless the queen and William and Kate for being such supportive people to their grandmother and grandfather. These documentaries are amazing and need to be shown to the children of the world so that they can learn from her and what she has done and continues to do. I am British and do love our royals. However, she doesn't need to rule as the government do that, she is updated and out of loyalty they ask her, her opinion but our prime minister makes all decisions. My aunt and my uncle who belonged to the Royal Navy and attended her coronation, were invited to a dinner in the garden. It was a select group of high ranking Navel Officers. My aunt and uncle were seated at the table next to the Queen. My aunt could not take her eyes off of the Queen. She could not believe how beautiful she was in person. My uncle Roy told her quietly to stop staring at her as it is not good manners. I will never forget this lovely story. I can only imagine what it was like being invited to her coronation.

I absolutely treasure the time that I first saw Queen Elizabeth. Very close to the open car which passed within a few feet of me, along with the rest of the small school represented by a few of us. Just six yrs old, I was permanently starstruck. Canberra, Australia 1953. At that time the then Aust.
