There are photos of Her Majesty tinkering around under the bonnet of one of her Landys when her escorts could not get it going. She did.👌 She was trained during the war as a vehicle mechanic.

I own a 2001 P38 Range Rover with 200,000 miles on it. One owner from new before me. Sadly it was stolen and recovered and so I bought it in a bit of a state as a project but the 4 litre V8 , bodywork, frame and even the electrics are all in excellent shape. Why did this one survive? Because it was regularly serviced.

Many years ago I owned a Range Rover and it was nothing but a headache, in the end I signed the title over to the mechanic just after he presented me a bill for $1500. Never again.
@dalane51962 ай бұрын
You gave away a Range Rover for $1500.00 dollars, you are joking. Or are you one of those people who can’t afford to buy a new Range Rover and buys a worn out one instead because it’s cheap, then wonders why it gives them trouble. I have owned numerous Land Rover vehicles and have always traded them in at 4 or 5 years and under 200,000kms, they have as a rule been very reliable. Few idiosyncrasies with them, but over all reliable and always got me where I wanted to go.

Let’s face it, Land Rover has been taken over by the woke mind virus as a company, they dont even pretend to build a car for working people anymore. Their target market is yuppies and drug dealers, I don t even look at them for a vehicle anymore, plastic flash rubbish that will never see a dirt rough road in the vehicles life now.

Were are the identical 2 X-type dark green metallic 3.0L estate her majesty had 1 would be with the queen & they would be swapped round every 6 months with the other been with JLR. Regarding the Landrover V8 Block & head used in the classic P38 and defenders from 91 to 05 when the V8 was killed off i was responsible for Foundry tooling approval & dimensional engineering reports for both.

I have owned a 2001 P38 with a 4 litre V8 for about a year now and I am the 2nd owner. The engine was swopped in 2012 for a Turner prepared engine and runs superbly. Reminds me of the Rover SD1 3500S and Vitesse I owned 'back in the day'.

Great display, such an iconic review of the stupidity of British vehicles. Imagine a vehicle so stupid that Corgies were made to claw on linoleum for their lives. It's just great British design.
