I am from Turkey. I was born in 2003, so I didn't make it to Queen Era but my mom is 59 years old and saw them live in legendary Live Aid concert in 1985. She went the concert all the way from Turkey in 1985. She was 20 years old at the time. She always cries when she talks about the concert and the queen and says it was the best moment of her life.

Deepest respect to you, Mia. You have gone top tier with this one. One could make a legitimate case for this song to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest recording ever made. In fact, it feels like three different songs in one encompassing elements of the melodic, operatic, and metallic. Freddie Mercury's masterpiece. No coincidence that they named the 2018 Queen/Mercury movie after this track. It is a work of perfection.💯

Loved your very sweet reaction to this iconic song by Queen……. and also your reaction to the Bohemian Rhapsody movie too. Although the movie was good …. and it was mostly factually correct…. but the timelines were way off. First of all …. The band never split up as portrayed in the movie. They took a break from recording together to do their own solo albums, Roger released an album before Freddie did. They were always in contact with each other ….and toured together through 1984 right up to the 1985 Live Aid concert that was portrayed in the movie. Second….Freddie was not diagnosed with AIDS until April of 1987 and did not immediately tell his band members about it. They continued to write and record music together….. right up until Freddie passed away in 1991. I also personally felt that the movie didn’t show enough of Freddie’s sense of humor and personality…. but that’s just me. I am happy the you enjoyed the movie and you learned more about Freddie and the band….. you definitely should react to more Queen, because there is so- so much more to see and hear. You should react to the actual 1985 Live Aid concert that they did in the movie ……Queen was …and still is considered the best live performance ever. Thank you. 💕

This song went to number 1 in the UK for nine weeks, the first year of its release. It only got to number 9 in the US but was number 18 on the year-end chart, which is probably a better measure of how well it did. It topped the charts in many countries across the world, including Canada, on its initial release. It was predicted to bomb but it didn't.

I thank you for appreciating this masterpiece of a song. You are correct in the fine way that they placed and staged their rock music sound with the symphonic/opera-related style to make it all turn out beautifully. Nowadays in this vastly digital age that we live in, composing this would not be a large hurdle to jump over, yet during the time they composed this, it was a bit more effort involved, especially the specific placement of tones and making it all fit as basically a masterpiece. Thank you for a grand reaction!

The movie 'Bohemian rhapsody' portrayed Freddie Mercury from 1970 to 1985 (the Live Aid concert) but some scenes were not chronologically correct - for example: 'We will rock you' was written and recorded before Freddie cut his hair and grew a mustache. Also, he knew the band Smile in the late 60's - in fact it was Brian May (guitar) who introduced Freddie to his girlfriend Mary Austin, who had dated May but began a relationship w/ Freddie (They did not meet in a club as portrayed in the movie) ... Mary did work in a boutique and fashioned Freddie's early stage image. The conflicts between the band members were mainly between Brian May and Roger Taylor... Freddie Mercury would often play peacemaker between the 2... Also, the record label guy (portrayed by actor Mike Myers) was fictional but he said out loud the standards of the music industry that Queen were up against in the 70s'. Freddie Mercury fired his personal manager Paul Prenter not because of Live Aid (as portrayed in the movie) ... but apparently, after discovering that Prenter had been using him for his own lavish lifestyle. But the story was mostly accurate from the Queen members' (and Mary's accounts)... Here is the timeline according to the band: 1970: Smile was a London trio that Freddie Mercury became a fan of... When their vocalist/ bassist quit, Freddy volunteered to join the band (w/ guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor), so that they could continue pursuing music, rather than a professional career. 1971: John Deacon (bass) joins Queen after going through temporary bass players... Freddie renamed the band Queen by then and soon designed a logo based on the astrological signs of the 4 members. 1973: Queen finally signed a record deal and released their first album... They proudly claimed that 'no synthesizers' were used on the record. However, it failed commercially. 1974: 3 albums into their career, they had a minor hit 'Killer queen' and performed on the BBC TV for the first time. Queen toured the USA for the first time but it was canceled after guitarist Brian May contracted hepatitis... 1975: Queen tours Japan for the first time and encounter massive fame there, after a US tour... Months later, the single 'Bohemian rhapsody' became a #1 single and made Queen superstars. They also parted ways w/ their former managers and signed w/ manager Jim Beach but were still paying off their debts that they owed. 1977: Freddie and Mary Austin break off their engagement after he revealed his infidelity w/ men... They remained friends and he eventually bought her a house next to his. It was around this time that Freddy's boyfriend Paul Prenter became his personal manager. 1979: Queen were making big money and selling millions of records globally... so, they decided to move to (West) Germany as tax exiles, so they wouldn't have to pay high British tax rates... Freddie Mercury indulged in the gay scene there and cut his hair and grew a mustache. 1980: John Deacon's disco song 'Another one bites the dust'... became a #1 hit for Queen and the band began making pop records. In S. America, Queen were a phenomenon, selling out stadiums. 1982: The pop album 'Hot space' became a commercial disappointment... Queen toured N. America for the last time experiencing poorly-attended shows in light of their new pop sound. Brian May later lamented, "We conquered the world but lost North America..." 1983: With Queen taking a break, Freddie Mercury was inspired by his friend Michael Jackson to sign a solo record deal negotiated by personal manager Paul Prenter, who was accused of driving a wedge between the band and Freddie; his drug use and sexual activities had escalated during this time. 1984: Frustrated w/ the quality of his solo album 'Mr. Bad Guy'... Freddie Mercury returned to Queen to work on the album 'The Works'... MTV in America banned the music video for "I want to break free" and the album sold poorly in the USA. Queen bypassed touring N. America and played massive shows on that tour. 1985: Queen triumphs at Live Aid ... the performance boosted their profile in the USA. Freddie Mercury's solo album 'Mr. Bad Guy' was released and failed commercially w/ Freddie declining to promote it. 1986: After Paul Prenter's dealings were exposed, Freddie Mercury fired him as his personal manager... Queen released 'A kind of magic' and launched their final tour across Europe in stadiums. 1987: Paul Prenter went public w/ Freddie Mercury's sexuality and private life to the media and tabloids... While Queen were taking a break, Freddie Mercury tests positive for AIDS... He was working on the album 'Barcelona' w/ opera singer Montserrat Caballé... That record was released in 1988. At some point, Freddie revealed that he had contracted AIDS but only revealed it briefly to the members of Queen, their manager Jim Beach, his friend Mary Austin, boyfriend Jim Hutton and few others. 1989: With Freddie Mercury unable to tour, Queen closed ranks and kept his diagnosis a secret from the public... They finished the album 'The Miracle' and shot music videos for it. 1991: The album 'Innuendo' was completed and released... Struggling w/ health issues, Freddie Mercury appeared for the last time on camera for the music video 'These are the days of our lives'... He returned to England in poor health and was taken care of by Mary Austin. Before his death in November, Freddie issued a statement admitting that he had AIDS.

Yes, this is a masterpiece. I love to sing with it in the car when it comes on. His voice is one of the world's best and he had done duet operas with some of the greats. The hair, the outfits, that was 1970s. Saw the movie, I liked the scene where he is talking to his bandmates and commenting on the fact that one is an astro physics, another is an electrical engineer and he made fun of the guy who was going to be a dentist and I laughed because, with teeth like his why would he mock the dentist guy? I play the piano for fun and I have the music to this song and when I play the song I do the hand cross over like he does in the video even though it is totally not necessary because the notes are really already there under the finger tips-----------but it looks cooler that way. There is a solo performance video as he sings "I was born to love you", and he puts his artistic style to it. Always love your reactions because you are a very expressive person. and you are fwine.

Such an iconic song. Queen just throws in everything and the kitchen sink, and it's wonderful! Freddie is one of the best front men of all time. You need to react to "Fat Bottom GIrls" it's a super fun song, and was written specifically for Freddie to vamp. The movie was really well done. Rock bands are complicated families, and I think it does a good job of showing the good times and bad. Also, the Live Aid performance is well worth watching. A masterpiece of how to put together a short set and engage a crowd.

It was a hit as soon as it was released. Was that a reaction? What about commenting on the lyrics and music more than your emotions. That was the most placid 'reaction' I have ever seen for this song.
