My dad is a musician, I showed him the footage of the amplifier blowing up, he told me that it wasn’t an amp explosion at all, there’s a box looking thing that bands use for reverb, (for guitars I think) and when the box is moved, it makes a loud sound, such as the sound you hear during you take my breath away, someone must have moved it backstage, which I guess would explain the lack of echo after the noise, I hope this helps.
@metallica-fan

Yeah, sounds reasonable, especially how the noise didn’t really have a proper fade out but rather a quick disappearing sound…

I agree.... a spring reverb. Literally a massive spring that makes a terrible noise if accidentally struck.

I don't know much, but I always thought it was Roger on drums. That day of that concert there was a special tension between Freddie and Brian, and Freddie was somewhat intense. That's why I thought Roger did it to express his displeasure.

OK- To be clear- pitch correction is NOT autotune. Pitch correction is a tool on the soundboard that can isolate a sharp, or mistake musically to where it should be. Auto tune is when you set what key you want your song to be sung or played in, and no matter how many mistakes are made, Auto tune corrects it. No Queen was NOT using Auto tune.

Yes! And pitch correction back in the day was also not a computer doing it, it was done by ear by skilled musicions and engineers. So there’s still skill involved

10:44 I think this "lose" phrasing at Houston 77 is not simply a cut and past, i think it's an overdub and they take the same phrasing from another concert to replace the crack (I think it's an November show because if we listen carefully to the moment 10:49 where they replace the crack we can hear it's a very clear Bb4 like his November sing tone)

It was featured in the BoRhap movie so maybe they edited Freddie's vocals to match Rami's mouth, which probably made it jumpy like in Earls Court. But I don't think it was overdubbed. First example with Brian is legit and that he was out of tune. "Only one" was in tune, he ran out of air - they blended in the end of "one". "Change my life" also in tune, but substituted an end with more vibrato. "destroy my mind" they substituted a better take. "control and shiver" sang a half-step tag on "control", but they again picked a stronger take (connnntrol) "whisper in my ear"... again, stronger take. "Pitch correction" is not happening here, and was only happening with an Eventide Harmonizer, starting around that year. These are flown in overdubs probably from a different night. What is the point of this?

1) There are only 4 nights in the Summer Gigs tour, my bet is that they weren't recorded because they were warm-ups, and they possibly can't use vocals from a show during the Day At The Races tour cause Freddie sings the song very differently there (i.e. he sings the song in chest voice, as opposed to the more falsetto-intensive variations we can listen to in Edinburgh and HP) and even if they did we'd have already noticed cause we have a truckload of ADATR audience recordings out in the wild and to be frank Freddie wasn't really in good shape in most of those shows. 2) What do you mean by "takes"? QPL already have the master tapes, I can place my bet that they don't flutter nor distort cause, well, they're the master tapes. Multi-track master tapes. They definitely don't have "stronger takes" cause well they already have the strongest and definitive takes. We also have an audience recording of Hyde Park. Go listen to it.

I always thought Queen were great live, seems like they were not so good. Did more bands from the 70's 80's do these fixes to?

Basically every band does this. Queen was still amazing live, it's just that QPL always nitpicks these small mistakes because they want Freddie to be "perfect". They're still as amazing live as you'd think. Channels like Ryan Newton and Gregsynthbootlegs prove that.

I actually don't mind the removal of the harmonizer. It sounds like shit. If Hammy 79 ever comes out, I *really* hope they get rid of the ridiculous harmonizer in Save Me

The overdubs are pretty subtle. It's not like George Lucas going back and screwing with his movies. Some of the comments here are majorly overreacting.

Pretty bitter by the channel owner. What's wrong are you a bit butt hurt because queen gets too much praise for your liking? Overdubbed are not queen is still on of the best bands in history of rock and Freddy Mercury was still one of the best vocalists the world's produced. Go and pick on all the other artists, and bands who do the exact same thing.

How is that butt hurt? He's just trying to be informative. And he's obviously not picking on the band when he points out overdubs, etc. in the releases. Like 99% of his videos are dedicated to Queen and you think they get too much praise for his linking? Go troll somewhere else.

First of all, Freddie* Second of all, how tf is he bitter pointing out overdubs a band did? Also he's specialized in Queen stuff so yeah, makes sense for him to point out overdubs from Queen releases and not any other bands. Also how tf is pointing out overdubs picking on a band? It's not even like he hates Queen, otherwise he wouldn't post Queen content. Also yeah overdubbing is a pretty common practice, but man some of the Queen official releases have some excessive overdubbing lmao.Pointing out mistakes ≠ picking on people, buddy.
