Rania Al-Yasin's entry into the Jordanian royal family was swift - she met Prince Abdullah in January 1993 at a reception at his sister Princess Aisha's house. In March they have already announced their engagement, and in June they played the wedding. Rania was born in Kuwait in a family of Palestinians and from childhood sought to change the world's perception of Arab women - contrary to tradition, at school she did not wear a headscarf and read glossy magazines. She completed her secondary education at an English school in Jabriya and then went to the American University in Egypt, where she studied business administration. After that she continued her studies in Geneva. Rania planned to start her own company but joined the Kuwaiti branch of Apple. She then moved to Citbank, where her manager was Princess Aisha, who eventually introduced her to her future husband.
