Freddie's clothes were layered and padded because he was so thin. It was filmed in B&W and with a lot of makeup to hide Kaposi's tumors on his skin, his foot was gangrenous and his eye hemorrhaged. He was in terrible discomfort. Regardless, he wanted a farewell video to his fans. "I love you" was his message to them. The song was written by Roger about his kids but took on a whole new meaning because they all knew Freddie was dying.

This song was written by Roger about watching his children grow up. Because of Freddie's condition at the time, the song ended up taking on a different meaning once recorded. Beautiful song. Thank you for reacting to this. It still makes me melancholy every time I hear it, for Freddie, this was his goodbye to his fans. This one and The Show Must Go On really hit home for me. Of course Mother Love just rips me apart.

“I’m not gonna cry ….. I’m not crying” 😭😭 Welp! MOTHER LOVE should be next. Then ONE BY ONE (Only The Good Die Young). The trifecta of Queen’s tribute to Freddie!! Watching this should encourage all of us to be more courageous in difficult situations!! (Pass the tissues please).

It's hard to believe it's been almost 30 years since Freddie left this earth (Nov 24th, 1991). Freddie left us with so much incredible music, I am grateful for that. Rest in Power Freddie 🙏❤

This song and performance is so touching. Such a beautiful song…and for me sad as this is Freddie’s last video performance. It was filmed six months before Freddie passed. The song was a number 1 hit and in 1992 won an Ivor Novello award (writing) for Best Single and was named Best British Single of the year.

As a huge fan of Queen, I think this song was written by Roger Taylor(the drummer) as a nostalgia trip but it took on a whole new meaning when they shot this video. Freddie Mercury was in the final stages of dying from AIDS and I think this was Freddie and Queen’s way of saying goodbye for Freddie. It’s a beautiful yet powerfully haunting song and when you watch the behind the scenes making of this video, you see how difficult it was for Freddie to be there physically to do it. He loved his and Queen’s music and fans so much that he gave it his all and it took a huge toll on him. If you see many of Queen’s videos, in the live performances, Freddie was fond of the phrase “I still love you” and I think he knew many generations of fans would still be watching his videos and musical performances long after he was dead. It’s amazing the showmanship and connection Freddie had with audiences. You should check out the 1986 Wembley performance Queen did for “Love Of My Life” and you’ll see just how connected Freddie was with the fans and that he really did love us fans. Great reaction video man!

An Austrian Director shot this video. He told that they had to stop filming often because freddy was already so weak while shooting/filming that he had to fight to finish the shooting. So the director also had to fight his tears cause of course the atmosphere at the set was sadly unforgettable (he knew Freddy for a long time and did more than one queen music video)

Great reaction, thanks! Did you notice their song "Thank God it's Christmas" at the end of the video? It's a fabulous, always contemporary Christmas tune that is so not recognized for it's greatness! Check it out right after Thanksgiving!

This was the last major work they did as a four-piece. Freddie and the rest of the band knew his time was near. But he was determined to complete this. He would rest then do a block of singing. At the end of the song when he says 'I still love you' is one of the most emotional and poignant moments and when this is played on any radio station they better not talk over it (or they will know about it).

Funnily this is a song by the Drummer (Roger Taylor) thinking about where he was in his life, with his family. However the video is the last one we see Freddie in. It was released the day (?) or so after he passed. Fuck it makes me emotional. Try Mother Love, thats his last recording we've heard

Great reaction. This video is still hard to watch for me. This was his last video. They did not expect him to do this one but he insisted. The previous video released was Innuendo and was animated because of Freddie's condition but he did not want to go out as a cartoon and this song gave him the ability to say a meaningful goodbye to his fans.

It's actually written by and about Roger Taylor and his family, it only became a way of Freddie saying Goodbye because if his illness, and it was filmed a few months before he died, which will be 30 years towards the end of this month

Great reaction! This is obviously an emotional video for all Queen fans, I always think of this song as very mature song writing especially from Roger. You are right Queen did many different styles and genres, you have really looked into Queen hard rock or metal style much, I suggest you check out Princes Of The Universe, it is completely the opposite of this song, and an awesome song.

Great reaction - thanks! You might be interested in this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIvQg4KDmM5sebM It's a side-by-side of the original and alternative versions of the video. I like the latter because it has close-ups of John and the love on his face is palpable. If you feel up to it try Mother Love - it's a work of art - but it's also hard.
