This one is a tearjerker. I love Freddie, but this is my favorite version. Brian's heart is wide open.

The two versions are like night and day. With Freddie we have power and drama, but with Brian we can almost feel the pain of his dilemma, of the choice he had to make - to stay with his love of many years, or leave to be with his new love. For me, as much as I love Freddie's vocals, I adore Brian's version.

Brian was in love with his then wife and now wife Anita, losing his family , thinking of suicide and his Dad and Freddie dying. Now do Brian's Back to the Light it's young Bri and old Bri.

This was written well before he met Anita, his current wife who he met in 1985. This was written about an earlier affair when he was considering leaving his wife and 3 kids, but stayed with his wife.

I love this song cuz I definitely get Brian vibes from his version regarding what he was dealing with at the time! Then we got Freddie’s version with a video mix of Queen songs tugging at your heartstrings!! There’s a third version … YESSSS with Brian singing this song with Pavarotti 🎶🎶 OMG - Live version in Italy!! 🇮🇹

Brian was shattered at this point in his life. He lost both Freddie and his father and his marriage was in complete ruin. He had also become romantically involved with another woman which was just adding to his shame, sorrow and fears. Brian was so afraid he was going to lose his children while going through all of this that he actually became so deeply depressed that he was considering suicide. Even in this video you can see the pain and heartbreak in his eyes and hear it in his voice.
