There are a number of different Guards regiments that wear the Red Jackets and Pipe Clay (White webbing/embroidery) including the Coldstream Guards, Grenadier Guards and more. Apparently they can be told apart by the buttons down the front of their tunics (The number and groupings of them. Some have groups of three, some groups of four etc) and all have bands that take part in ceremonial duties. I LOVE hearing them play, as they are just so beautiful and inspiring at the same time :-) I know a friend in the Life Guards, one of the mounted regiments that guard the Palace, and met him on guard the last time I was in London. He was a skinny kid when he joined, and grew into a truly awesome looking man, and wore his regalia with the utmost pride. His horse was truly huge and beautiful, like all the Household Cavalry horses, and he was surrounded by tourists taking his photo, when he saw me in the crowd, and we had a little reunion all our own :-) I am so proud of that lad, who I saw grow from a kid into a man, who now guards the Royal Family. I saw the Guards bands often on trips to London when I lived in England, and lately found a video online of the Royal Marines Drum Corps that is just mind-blowing :-)
