The contrast between She Makes Me and the other tracks ensures that the whole album is a hugely satisfying experience. Not a bad track on it, yet they cover a huge range of styles and sounds thanks to the four very different personalities in the band. Excellent.

Favorite Brian May track (after’39) is “Long Away” from 1976’s A Day at the Races” Arguably the best hit single they never had, it perfectly captures Queen’s overall sound in that era.

Bringing out all the big guns this week. Stormtroopers (originally strumtruppen) were elite German troops in WWI who specialized in infiltration. The Germans later used the term to refer to the Canadian troops after the Canadians captured Vimy Ridge (Canadians were notorious for their "take no prisoners" approach to trench raiding). I don't know if I had ever heard this before. It does tend to zone me out but I did enjoy it. Interesting.

It's one of those tracks that doesn't sound like Queen and yet is still one of my faves of theirs. Roger's "Drowse" from the Day At The Races album is another like that. Not virtuosic, not trying to impress or grab your attention, just dreamy and sincere and beautiful.

Don't know if it's already been said, but apparently, Brian wrote it in a new york hospital when he had hepatitis in his arm, and it's about the nurse who helped him. The ending is a recording of the street outside his window. One of my favourite tracks from my favourite album by them, thank you.

Overall Brian’s songs, especially the ones he sings lead, are among my favorites in the Queen catalog, this is no exception. The vocal and guitar harmonies are wonderful, but I also just love how he delivered lead vocals during the Queen years. He worked on his voice for his solo albums and tours, as he wanted to be able to project a stronger presence as *the* lead singer, but I still prefer these earlier performances. I actually head this on the radio once, which was quite a pleasant surprise.

This song makes use of the Gated Reverb technique on the drums which was later pioneered by Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins on the former's song Intruder and, more notably, the latter's In The Air Tonight. Gate Reverb just means that the "gate", which closes off all sound until it's loud enough to reach a threshold to be audible, has been pushed very high to right at where the drums' volume is at its peak, so it only gives the initial attack of the drums, and then they add a bunch of reverb after that attack, so you have this almost gong-like snare and bass tone. This was essentially the sound of 80s drums. And here it is on a Queen song, 6 years before it really became big.

Hey there! Thank you for your reaction. Gotta remember this came out a couple years before "Star Wars" was a movie. The Stormtroopers that he is referring to, I believe is the women soldiers in WWII. the ending puzzles me with the gun shots and the sirens. Maybe a murder/suicide?

Always loved this song and this album. It took a while for me to actually play Side II since Side I is amazing. I was blown away by the contrast on Side II. I love the breathing at the end and how it leads into the last song. The guitar parts are so awesome (especial when Brian sings for the first time "I'm warm and terrified She makes me so"). Great song! Thanks JP!

Freddie, Brian and Roger were each emencely talented singers and song writers, the only weak link was Bass Player John Deacon who wasn't a singer, but a great song writer in his own right. It pretty rare to have multiple members, the can compare to The Beatles and a few others in that regard.

My interpretation of the lyrics is that it is an unborn baby singing to his mother. The noises and sirens at the end, maybe, invoke the beginnings of Labour and possibly an ambulance journey to hospital. The heavy breathing at the end could be his first breaths outside of the womb. Hopefully, the sudden stop at the end doesn't represent anything sinister. Obviously, this is just MY interpretation so I could be way off!

Afternoon, Justin. Dave from a brightening London (sky's on its Way To Blue). Love the variety on this album from a phenomenally talented band, but this song is one of the weaker ones for me, despite some nice harmonies. I can't help comparing it to The Rolling Stones' We Love You. Melody's similar, but there's so much more going on in the Stones song. P.S. my song ref Way To Blue is by Nick Drake.

If I maybe so bold as to make a suggestion. I think your channel would benefit greatly from an extra posted track (3 daily uploads) whereby you catch-up on albums and bands that you've set aside or neglected for the past 2 years. Eg, The Waterboys, T.Rex, Simple Minds, The Kinks, Killing Joke, Prefab Sprout, etc. Call it "Today's Catch-up Track" whatever, but allow yourself more connective tissue to what you've been playing in the past. Also, would be good to hear more 80's music, such as Lloyd Cole and the Commotions.

Relentlessly, unbearably plodding and tedious. A strong contender for the worst track I've ever heard by Queen, and there are a few in the running. I once saw someone riding a bicycle while wearing a Star Wars stormtrooper helmet. It was the highlight of that particular day.

Sorry to drag the tone of the channel down to the gutter, but this gives me BDSM vibes. Maybe it's where I am given my never-you-mind, but to me she's a dominatrix and he's a submissive. I suppose this is one of those "if you know, you know" affairs, because they couldn't exactly be explicit about it, but this song gets me as high as a trek up Everest. With spiked oxygen.

probably the only track on the LP that had the makings of a semi decent tune. That said, the overall melody, lilt put me in mind of numerous other bands, so nowt stood out. Where they lost me, that dragged out ending. The sirens, erroneous noises, not sure the point of that. For me, about a minute too long. knock that last min off, and I might've had to bite my tongue and say it was't bad...
