Freddie wrote this as a tribute to Aretha Franklin...he had hoped that one day she would sing it...has a total gospel feel to it..when Queen went to New York, Freddie said that people thought they were a black band...🤩

Freddie mentioned in an interview: „For Somebody To Love, we had the same 3 people singing on the big choir section, but I think it had a different kind of technical approach because it was a gospel way of singing - which was different to us. That track was me going a bit mad. I just wanted to write something in the Aretha Franklin kind of mode. I was inspired by the gospel approach she had on her earlier albums. Although it might sound like the same approach on the harmonies, it is very different in the studio because it’s a different range.”

Saw Queen in September 1980 on "The Game" tour (yes, I'm old.) It wasn't a huge venue, something like 16,000 people, but of course one of my favorite concerts. Nobody could work a crowd like Freddie Mercury. It didn't matter where you were in the arena. He'd still make you feel like part of the show. 👍🔥😬

You are SO. LUCKY. to have seen Freddie and the boys live!
@gregrambo6062 жыл бұрын
Plus, that's only three people singing on the song:Freddie, Roger Taylor and Brian May. They stacked vocal track on top of vocal track on top of vocal track to make it seem as if a choir were singing. That was Freddie's idea. Clever.

saw an article on yahoo a couple of days ago " is old music killing new music" its was about songs are downloaded and what's played on the various online sites older music far outweighs newer music the problem is that new music just sucks -- there are no mega bands, no super groups -- a lot of new music is autotuned

There used to be a shop right next to our theater and they would give us belt buckles. I happened to get a Queen and a Kiss and some would ask if you were interested in antimony. Cool pictures of broken bones from x-rays. They were printing popular music on them and sending them to the Soviet Union.
