Freddy was a freak of nature honestly. His range was absolutely insane. He had very high roof of his mouth which allowed him to have that crazy range. Paired with possibly the best tone out of any guitarists, a drummer with a solid falsetto, a bassist that wrote some of the most timeless bass riffs of all time, and all four of them write music and lyrics... you have a match made in heaven

The thing I enjoy most about people discovering Queen is not when they see how incredible Freddie is, that's a given, it's when they discover how immensely talented John, Roger and Brian are. How each wrote songs that reached #1 on the charts. When they dive deep and listen to songs like '39 and I'm in love with my car to see how amazing Brian and Roger's voices are. When they hear all of John's iconic bass lines. When they get into songs with deep meanings or realize a song they've heard a million times is made by queen. And of course, once they see these 4 perform live. In my opinion, the epitome of a perfect band. Yes, Freddie gets the attention, as he should, there will never be anyone like him, but man, Queen isn't Queen if any of the 4 aren't there.

They love Freddie? LOL Why then was Freddie portrayed as such a tormented villain of the band in the biopic, the biopic that made soooo much money for May and Taylor? Now the younger gens keep quoting the movie repeating things Freddie NEVER said and making statements about him as based on a completely fabricated narcissistic and self-loathing character, which Freddie never was! May has always competed with Freddie and does so to this day! It’s sordid.

His range is off the charts. You need to hear them live. They sound even better live. It was back in the days there wasn’t any auto tube or tricks. Just pure talent. You need to react to Somebody To Love live in Montreal 1981. Also, react to the number 1 rated live rock and roll performance in history. It’s Queen at Live Aid 1985. It was a 16 hour charity event to raise money to help the starving in Ethiopia. Each band had 17 minutes to do their best. Queen stole the show. It’s amazing. Fun fact: Though Freddie didn't consider himself to be a great pianist, he was. Watch his hands, the way he dips his wrists down. He was triple jointed and, according to those who knew him well, could bend his hands all the way back. Very flexible all over, too, thus some of his iconic moves onstage, bending over backwards, etc.

Kerry, hyper-flexible wrist is NOT something to boast about. It points at a weakness in the wrist and poor hand positioning. So, As good and entertaining as Freddie was, he was not a great pianist. He also completed only 4 out of 8 grades of the piano proficiency course.

Freddie was out of this world....his vocal range is vast, he can sing high and low and everything inbetween to perfection and his voice can suit any genre of music because he is so versatile. He wrote the best song in history...well that's what everyone voted plus he wrote many other classics. He is an incredible composer and his music is art with so many transitions and unique styles, he could pack out stadiums... he was the brain behind all the videos and how they are so artistic...he can play lots of musical instruments very well....his stage presence is second to nobody....he was a quite humble man but at the drop of the hat he could be the most charismatic colourful character ever. Every part of being a great musician Freddie has those skills and talent but his is on another level but let's not forget the rest of the band each of whom contributed by them all writing songs and all being very artistic and skilled musicians in their own right....and put all 4 of them together and you get musical nirvana in Queen.

Glad that you are listening to studio versions as well as live. The are both amazing. In the studio versions, you get the full effect of what they envisioned the work to be - lots of multi-layering and taking the technology of the time as far as it can go. Brian May (the lead guitarist) said he listens to their studio stuff and he doesn’t know how they did it with the technology available then. Then the live versions - a little stripped down from the studio versions, but no less spectacular. Some songs I prefer the studio versions, some I like the live version better. My only advice is that when you listen to the studio versions, use headphones. You will be amazed. Hope you enjoy this adventure into Queen’s music - they were totally unique and you will never hear a song that sounds like another Queen song or any other song - and there will be some you know, but didn’t know it was Queen. (And they have VERY passionate fans. I’m one of them from the early days). LOL

Freddie Mercury the best Rock n Roll voice ever! Glad you finally found him. BTW, he identified as male but was gay. He eventually died of AIDS. There are so many other great Queen songs to listen to. After you've watched a few, (Love of My Life), YOU MUST WATCH Queen's Live Aid 20 minute set. You WILL ABSOLUTELY LOSE YOUR MIND!!!!!! I love watching your reactions. When you watched BoRap (Bohemien Rhapsody), you were hysterical.

Favorite quote from Freddie Mercury. A reporter asked him what instrument he plays and he answered, "I play the audience." So true!

Great vid dude. Fred was simply the greatest frontman ever. I don’t see how anyone can be greater than him with a mic and on a stage.

QUEEN is the name of the band!! HE the greatest vocalist & frontman in the world FREDDIE MERCURY! Brilliant musicians in the studio and masters of the live performance! In 2020, Queen voted best live rock band of all time! It is required by law that after watching the studio version you must watch & witness the live version! Every version of Somebody To Love is unique!! Most fans request Montreal 1981 which is perfection ... I do like the Milton Keynes 1982 version, too due to the energy oozing from Freddie!! It’s HOT HOT 🥵🔥🔥

Can you >imagine how much fun that it was to be living when all of this great music was happening? I have been around for all of it, but at least you can see it now. He was great. His band was great!

No one, and no band like Freddie and Queen. You're right, do the studio and then the live. they are both so good and sometimes so different. Both fantastic.

I agree - I like thst he is doing the studio versions first. These are pure art, constructed to perfection. The live versions show Freddie’s incredible energy and one-of-a-kind showmanship, but his stunning and unique vocal talent can most fully be appreciated in the studio versions IMO. These are masterpieces.

His accurate enunciation of every word he sings (and speaks) is what allows him to "speak" to us. Grew up with these guys in my teens. I dont get tired of listening to him.

Great reaction!! My favorite cover of this song is done by George Michael as a tribute to Freddie. Also, you absolutely MUST react to their Live Aid performance at Wimbley. It is one of the most epic moments in music history.

Heyup Fella, I think Marc Martel might be the guy you was thinking of. He does a show called The Queen Extravaganza ................The live version for this has to be Montreal 1981.

I just have to say how much I LOVE your reaction. To see some one recognize how amazing Freddie's voice is but also how amazing the background vocals are. I watch reactions to chase the feeling I got the first time I heard them. If I had a men in black "flashy thingy" I would use it so I could hear them for the fist time again.

Mercury had four additional teeth in the upper jaw that pushed his incisors forward, an overshot and that gave him more volume in his voice
@catecurry483 жыл бұрын
And he would not have the teeth "fixed" as he was concerned that it would change the way he sang.
