By all accounts Freddie faced his death with courage & grace. Brian said he never complained no matter how ill he was, he just wanted to keep working as long as he possibly could. It's also remarkable how his bandmates closed ranks around him and how protective they were as the tabloid press hounded him (rumors were rampant once Freddie started losing weight & looking gaunt). It's astounding how strong his voice was even as he grew so frail. Thank you for such a respectful, empathetic reaction. Millions of music lovers around the world still love Queen, Freddie & the music they made. And we appreciate this kind of respect from newcomers to this music. I also love the way you do a little research first. It gives you and others not so familiar with Queen some background to go on. You're doing a good job.

Deborah, you're obviously a great writer. Had to mention that because I appreciate your style. I, too, know Queen's music very well -- though not nearly as well as you. But still, I grew up with it. Just had to affirm your appreciation for TMF's empathy. This band is sheer genius -- and FM a one of kind, never to be forgotten man. I watch TMF reaction videos because I love the host's genuine love of music and wide open ears -- devoid of meaningless distinctions between genres of popular music.

@@unmuzzled7795 Thank you for such a lovely reply! Sometimes my comments are lengthier than I intended (I guess it is the frustrated writer in me), but it's nice to know someone enjoyed what I wrote. Especially when it's someone like you who has quite a way with words themselves & knows how to turn a phrase. I love what you said about Freddie..every word so true. There aren't enough superlatives for him. I hope he's never forgotten. Also agree with your description of L & his channel. Those are the exact reasons I'm a subscriber. And even though I watch a few other reactors, he's the one I enjoy the most. He's special, and what a sense of humor!. Thank you again for your kind words. You absolutely made my day!💙

@@Kim-ss5bbnot defending them at all I hate the media as a whole. But the hounding of Freddie as they believed he had aids was the final fledglings of being non straight was considered a scandal and a moral outrage. Things were changing but the press wanted to oust him. I mean Elton didn’t feel comfortable to come out to 1993 or around there. I mean the sexual revolution in the late 60’s to the mid to late 80’s where the press were hounding him isn’t really that long.

powerful reaction. yeah, with the title, he was telling everyone and the universe "screw it" he was going to keep singing and making music till he dropped. he also sang a duet with Michael Jackson called "there must be more to life than this". the very very last music video with him on screen was "these are the days of our lives" and the very last song recording he made before he died was called "mother love" but sadly couldn't finish it, so the guitarist Brian May sang the last verse. years after Freddie's death Brian, Roger (drummer)and John (bass guitar) wrote a tribute tear jerker song called "no one but you, only the good die young".
@hannyhawkins7804

Diana North The beautiful, heartrending Made in Heaven album isn’t strictly a tribute. It’s Freddie’s final recordings, finished off by the surviving members of Queen, plus some songs they’d all recorded earlier, Only the Good Die Young (No one but You) isn’t on Made in Heaven. It was recorded and released years later, in 1997, after which John Deakin retired for good.

The day Freddie went in to lay down his solo track, he looked so bad that Roger told him they could do it another day. In perfect Freddie style he said, "I'll f-ing do it, dahling", took a shot of vodka, went into the booth, and slammed it in one take. It's the best vocal he has ever done, in my humble opinion. I have incurable cancer, and if I have just 1% of his gumption, spirit, and strength, I hope I go out as powerful as he did. Freddie...someone still loves you.

Btw - this was like a little tribute the band did for him about this. The last two videos he was IN are really about his dealing with his illness. Mainly the first (one I just suggested). The very last was his GOOD BYE to us. He kept his illness secret for 2 reasons - one privacy - two so the knowledge of it wouldn't skew the listener, meaning they'd be listening to the music for its own merit not for pity or what have you.

i’ve always been kind of haunted by how brian, deacy and roger felt as they spent those last few months with their dying best friend who kept asking them to make him music, he can do it, just bring him more songs. they must have been so broken after. i remember brian saying in the documentary that it was a close time for them, and i imagine their friendship deepened even more by them. i watched brian and roger’s interview a week after fred died and it was so brutal! they were barely hanging on and they were so angry at the press smearing freddie’s name. they must miss him to this day, and deacy too.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I really don’t find this song sad. The feeling I get is triumphant. I mean this was Mercury looking death straight in the eye and saying “I don’t care how close you are to me, I’m gonna keep on going until my last breath! The show must go on!” And that’s exactly what he did. It also gives me confidence in whatever I’m doing and not to ever give up no matter what. And of course it makes me extremely proud of Mercury for not letting anything get in the way of him doing what he loved for himself and for us, his grateful fans! Thank you so so much Mr. Mercury! He didn't announce it not out of pride or anything egotistic, he just didn't want his fans to think his lyrics were meaningless, and that he was a fallen star. If he knew that we would support him and GOD how strong he is by singing literally til he died, WOW we love him. He is a Superstar! A Master! Freddie has a word? The concert with that many people was Knebworth it was the last concert Queen did with Freddie as front man (1986) there were 125,000 people in attendance.

The massive crowd that you are seeing in this video is actually at Knebworth Park in Hertfordshire (a County in England, just North of London). It was an extra date added on to a mini-tour of England that Queen were doing in 1986. They already played 3 nights in London, then 2 nights in Manchester, 2 nights in Newcastle upon Tyne. (Can't really remember if they had any in Scotland - if they had it would be Edinburgh or Glasgow) before returning back South. The Knebworth Park concert as it turned out was in fact Freddie Mercury's last ever live performance. But the sheer numbers that you were seeing had a lot do with the band's iconic performance at Live Aid the year before.

The large crowds were there for Live Aid, which they played along with many other bands, kind of like a more organized 80s version of Woodstock, held in both England and the US, but it was a fundraising concert, with the funds going to fighting famine in Ethiopia. The organizer Bob Geldof knew a lot of "charities" that sent food and supplies over there got waylaid by either the government or warring assholes that would steal it for themselves. Bob knew about this, and so he, at great risk to his own life, he and his workers PERSONALLY hand-delivered the food and supplies to Ethiopian villages to make sure they actually got them. They raised over 125 million dollars in 16 hours.

Something I dont if you knew or not is "Mama Please Let Me Back Inside" Brian would bring him slips of paper with lyrics on it and Freddy would do it and it would tire him out so every day they would bring him more lyrics and he would sing what he could but he was so sick he never finished the song. Brian sang the last of the song 2 years after Freddy died then they released it. It was awesome that he loved the music and his band so much that he kept doing it right up till he died

Great reaction. Queen has been my favorite band for over 40 years. The crowd you are reacting to is the very last time Freddie performed live with Queen, August 6th, 1986. The official audience total is 120,00. But photo experts state they could be about 180,00 people at that gig, which is Knebworth Park in the UK. Glad you like the music. Good luck and best regards.

Freddie was dying--DYING--and he nails this. Brian May said in "Days Of Our Lives" that Freddie wanted to record because he knew he didn't have much time left. That is part of why Freddie is the GOAT.

The huge crowd that you see is at Knebworth House in Knebworth, Hertfordshire, England actually just down the road from me in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England. I tried to get a ticket for the Queen Concert but they sold out in a hour but I could here the concert from my garden. There was between 250,000 and 300,000 Queen fans. As a Queen fan I was disappointed for not getting a ticket but I sat in my back garden and listened to the consert. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

In my opinion, the most powerful words in this song are "I face it with a grin, I'm never giving in, on with the show" really shows how determined he was to keep going

I’ve only read a few descriptions about Freddie’s struggles at the end, including blindness, I can’t even imagine. The sheer strength of WILL it must have taken just to get out of bed. I have systemic Lupus and find it difficult to get up and do my laundry. Freddie is a true inspiration.

While Freddie was sick, he wrote a number of songs and recorded the vocals. Later the band put the the vocals to music. The album is called Made in Heaven. The last song Freddie recorded was Mother Love. He died before he finished it. Brian May sings the last verse. He also recorded A Winter’s Tale. It is the most hauntingly beautiful song I have ever heard. It is a must review!!

I will always remember what my( step) Dad said when some one insulted Freddie after his death "what has his private life got to do with his music ?Talent is Talent". My ( step)dad introduced me to so much brilliant music as a kid and he also taught me alot about respecting people .

This was the first Queen song I ever heard (a long time ago) and it is very special to me! The whole Innuendo album is so great! Please listen to Mother Love. It is the last song sung by Freddie. In fact he couldn't finish it so Brian sung the last verse

I love the fact that you do some research on the songs before listening to understand the deepness and the pure talent that was put behind it. I think that was the best reaction video I saw so far. Freddie was something else, the amount of energy that he put thru all is songs Queen songs is just incredible. I don't think humankind will ever see someone like him ever again. Great reaction!!

I know I am a little late to the game, but I just wanted you to know that Queen was the first band to perform in stadiums. The stadiums were not always big enough so they would do a second show the next night. That wasn’t always possible due to the fact that the stadium was not available. If you go look up full concerts on KZbin you will see how special they all were, but especially Freddie! He always made the audience feel like they were part of it. He had them in the palm of his hand! I have seen a lot of people comment about Live Aid and you really should watch it! Queen wasn’t even on the list of bands that would be playing! They had split up at that time, but their manager convinced them to put their differences aside and do this one concert together. So they literally was added to the line up at the last moment. And they stole the show! And they realized that they were all better together! I love Queen and have since I was a little girl.

There is a video of this song without showing all these other cuts from different videos. It’s just the four of them stripped down to bare bones on that small stage in that theater where they did many practices. That crowd was over 250,000 people in attendance! Incredible!
