Beautiful, haunting, mystifying song! Queen never disappoints! A band of pure talented genius wizards, plain and simple! Their musical effect on the soul and the power they have over crowds is just a magic all its own! In case you're wondering about the champagne glass in Freddie's hand, this was a televised Christmas Eve concert and just before he started singing, he gave a special toast to the audience. Freddie would give a toast to the audience in general on occasion. What I love best about Queen's early works is how they explored fantasy and mythological themed type of subjects. Brian May wrote "White Queen" about a girl he had a crush on in college, but didn't have the guts to tell her how he felt. Alongside the loving from afar motif, he also found inspiration from an archetype/mythology book he was reading at the time called "The White Goddess" by Robert Graves. By the way, in case you didn't hear, Brian was knighted earlier this year! So he's not just "Dr", but "Sir Brian May"! Of anyone who actually, truly deserves it, it's him. Fantastic reaction.
